If I Can Dream Ceases Production Until 2011

Simon Fuller’s web show, If I Can Dream has ceased production until 2011.  “Thanks for being a part of Season 1, ”  says a message on the website, “Get ready for Season 2 starting in 2011.

The decision was sudden, as the reaction from house member Kara Killmer reveals. She tweeted last night:

Show’s taking a break for a while. Thanks you guys for be so amazing and supporting us all of this time. I appreciate it more than you know.

WOW. It appears a lot of folks are freaking out a bit. We are too. Look guys it’s nothing personal, we aren’t allowed to disclose a lot.  We are simply taking a break and seeing what we can do to improve on viewership and showcase.

For the time being, the dreamers will be finding alternate living quarters. That’s show biz ya’ll. We’re okay.

This week’s episode should have just gone up on Hulu so you can go watch that. Thanks guys for being so supportive. I really appreciate it. Ya’ll have been there since the beginning.

We’ll see if the show comes back at all in 2011. There was a small, but loyal following that developed since the show began in the winter of 2010.  But it was apparently not big enough to keep the production online.

As for the fate of the housemates?  Alex Lambert, who joined the cast shortly after he was eliminated from American Idol Season 9,   appeared to be on the verge of a label deal.  He may get signed yet. My bet it will be with 19’s new partner, Universal Music Group.
