Simon Cowell and the Top 6 were Oprah Winfrey’s guests today on her show.   Simon answered Oprah’s questions via satellite from  Las Vegas.   His  top 2 Idols are Melinda Doolittle  and Jordin Sparks, but he’s not counting out LaKisha Jones, if she turns in  more performances like her show-stopping “And I Am Telling You” from the semi’s.   He likes Chris Richardson, because he is contemporary, and he thinks Blake Lewis is a pop star.

About the newly-eliminated Sanjaya Malakar, Simon says, “I miss him, probably in the same way as I would miss now my favorite horror movie…I don’t mean that nastily, because I like horror movies. But there’s a kind of like, ‘I hate it, I love it.’ And that’s how I felt about Sanjaya…He was a very sweet guy, quite entertaining, but a horrible singer.”

During the second segment, Oprah interviewed the Top 6 via satellite from the Idol studios in LA.   You can watch the interview for yourself right here:

I totally agree, pj. I love his recorded voice. It is so beautiful. That song, WTSGB, is one of my top 2 favorite Blake downloads, along with Time of the Season. :) Blake is going to sound great on the radio. I can’t wait. :)

Thanks for posting the Oprah video, mj! I found a video elsewhere but it didn’t include the part with Simon, which I wanted to see.

I liked Oprah’s interview with the Idols. I think this is a very likable group…Melinda comes across as very sweet and charming, and she’s even beginning to look foxy. Phil is quite phunny (see what I did there?) – I’ve gotten a kick out of his humor in all the little random videos that have been popping up on YouTube and such. Jordin is adorable, and Blake is, well, Blake. :blush_tb: Maybe this season isn’t as exciting as last, but I’m still enjoying it, and there a couple of people whose CDs I’d be interested in buying. Blake for sure, and possibly Jordin, depending on what her record ends up sounding like.

I’m kind of hesitant on watching it this week. I hope it is not like a long drawn out telethon. I understand that telethons and charity events are very important, and I do call in and donate……I just don’t want to mix American Idol in with it.

I hope we have the performance of the season, hell of ALL seasons, this week just so all the h8rs can STFU about this “boring, dreary season”. If you don’t enjoy it, why post in a thread about season 6? I’m sorry if I’m a little slow and don’t understand it, but why torture yourselves? And if you WANT to torture yourselves and KNOW you are, don’t complain about it. UGH.

I personally can’t wait to see Blake the Popstar, Jordin the Adorable, Melinda the Pro, and Phil the Phunny (star, I hate you for that… LMAO) on Tuesday.

    (Sorry MJ.)
