No concert stats from Idols, X-Factorers or (unsurprisingly) Voices this week, but old Idol judge JLo made a lot of money (a cool $13M across 13 concerts) co-headlining with rumoured new Idol judge Enrique.

This is the daily numbers thread. Please post numbers as you find them.

‘American Idol’ On the Charts: Phillip Phillips’ ‘Home’ Run; Lauren Alaina’s ‘Eighteen’ Climbs

Thanks to a “Rock of Ages” resurgence, season four alum Constantine Maroulis scores his 118th week on cast albums chart. Season 10 runner-up Alaina, meanwhile, can credit Carrie Underwood for her latest country hit.

I had no idea that Jennifer Lopez could sell so many tickets.  Over 20,000 each night for 4 concert dates in Canada, and all sell outs for the US dates.  That’s impressive considering that her catalog of music is that memorable.

The actual concert took place a few weeks ago, but this article contains numbers for Scotty’s concert at the Bay City pig gig…15,000 :)))

It would be nice to see some boxscores for Scotty’s solo gigs…I know he makes the money either way but I like having the numbers out there.

JLo didn’t really tour at the height of her musical success so I’m a little surprised by her numbers now. She’s not doing it alone and she did have a big hit last year but I never would have guessed that she’d be such a successful touring act.

Scotty has drawn really well at the festivals this summer and his home town gigs.  Festivals are different they are usually cheaper and people tend to go out for the whole experience the fair etc.   This is not meant as a dis on Scotty he is a big draw I would be curious to see what he could do indoors on a fall tour with him as headliner  and higher ticket prices. I would guess 3000-5000/show in some places would not be beyond his reach which would be great.

I can’t see any reason for Scotty to set up any kind of headlining tour at this juncture.  His album is 10 months old, he has covered most of the nation with Brad, he gets plenty of invitations to “festivals”, fairs, and one-offs, he’s doing OK in the media coverage, he’ll probably get some highlighting during the awards season (presenter, if nothing else), and he’s going to college.  I don’t think we’ll see a Scotty tour until his next non Christmas album has been out for a few months and I wouldn’t be surprised if that tour didn’t showcase him with someone else as a joint venture or if he didn’t tour as the premier opener.

There is plenty of time for Scotty to move up to headlining status and when he does I bet it will be a smaller more intimate tour.  The kid isn’t out to “prove” something, he is singing and performing because it seems that it is something he wants to do and to do long term.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see him waiting for another couple of years before he solo tours to gigs larger than 10k.  Time is definitely not his enemy.

I wasn’t actually saying I thought it was a good idea
just idol (see what i did there) curiosity as to how he might fair.

It was a co-headlining tour with Enrique Iglesias. He draws very well when he tours, so the crowds could have been there as much (or more) for him as they were for her. I

Money? The opening act/radio show circuit doesn’t earn you the big bucks but the band still needs to be paid. Carrie was an opening act in 2006 but she also toured on her own. She played the festivals/fairs but casinos/theaters/arenas too, especially once fall came. She had sold a lot more with Some Hearts and wasn’t going to classes on campus at the time so her circumstances were different than Scotty’s.

I think he’s been doing all of the above, except no attempts at arenas on his own.  He’s done the free radio shows, fairs and festivals, plus some concert halls with the 3-5 K range part of the deal.  We have the listing at IDF on his Event thread… July 12 American Music Theater (Lancaster, PA) SOLD OUT – 13 Chautauqua Institution (Chautauqua, NY) SOLD OUT – HEADLINER 14 Mayo Performing Arts Center (Morristown, NJ) SOLD OUT – HEADLINER . .   were non-festival dates, for example.

My guess is that he’ll hopefully be a 2nd opener for someone next year and continue to do these one offs.

Oh, and I’d love to see some box scores, too.  I’d love to know how much he gets paid (not so much that I’m nosy;), but that it’s reassuring) for drawing 15K to an event like the Pig Gig or 10K to the NC State Fair.  It’s just interesting…

  • DB987

I am guessing he will sell enough Scotty calendars to keep himself in pocket change until  if/when he is ready for those arena’s.

While we are on the topic of Scotty, it will be interesting to see where he ranks on Forbes top idol earners for this year. My guess is pretty high from all those tickets sold, albums sold, and singles sold.

Do we have any idea when that Forbes list comes out?  I thought it should have come out earlier this summer?  Don’t know why…

Do we have any idea when that Forbes list comes out?  I thought it should have come out earlier this summer?  Don’t know why…

For the excellent reason that it used to come out in late May, then Forbes changed entertainment beat reporters, and in 2011, the list was published in July. Since it’ll be September any minute now…

I can’t find a 2012 list. Forbes doesn’t even include a link to the 2011 Top-Earning Idols on its Lists page, so either it’s not considered a “real” list or there are no plans to keep doing it, possibly both.

Ah, so I was right.  And that’s sad…
