Bearing in mind that last week’s overnight Twitter follower increases were unhelpful in predicting the bottom 3, I continue on my quest to determine if Twitter follower behavior tells us much of anything. (I’m totally okay with confirming the null hypothesis that it doesn’t).

Use of overnight gains is because these are probably partly driven by interest in the performance, for good or evil.

Haley Reinhart gained followers at a far higher rate than anybody else, and she also did well on raw numbers, despite coming from a low base.

    PERCENTAGE GAIN
    Reinhart, Haley 9.13%
    Abrams, Casey 5.29%
    Toscano, Pia 5.18%
    Durbin, James 4.66%
    Lauren Alaina 4.59%
    McCreery, Scott 4.44%
    Langone, Stefano 3.95%
    McDonald, Paul 3.83%
    Lusk, Jacob 3.69%
    Adedapo, Naima 2.95%
    Megia, Thia 2.93%

    FOLLOWERS GAINED
(Since follower numbers can vary a lot from hour to hour, I’ve ranked these with T for tie where the gain is pretty close.)
    1. Abrams, Casey 2,591
    2. McCreery, Scott 2,232
    3T. Toscano, Pia 1,812
    3T. Reinhart, Haley 1,781
    5T. Lauren Alaina 1,617
    5T. Durbin, James 1,592
    5T. McDonald, Paul 1,588
    8. Langone, Stefano 1,223
    9. Megia, Thia 975
    10. Lusk, Jacob 752
    11. Adedapo, Naima 468

I enjoy reading these stats, so thanks for compiling them. It may be a combination of stats that ends up being the best predictor. Or perhaps we should look at the percentage change from week to week (e.g. If Conestant X went up Y followers this week and Z followers last week, what is the ratio from Y:Z? Does it tell us anything?)

wonder what percentage of the audience has taken their seats by the time CaseyJ is on stage. although i think no matter what the scenario, Casey is still in a good position to be on a tour with these kind of numbers. yay for him.

    79. Tiny Dancer – Elton John – Stefano
103/390/454. Your Song – Elton John – Casey
171/363/476. Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going to Be a Long Long Time) – Elton John – Paul

    322. Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word – Elton John – Jacob
    742. I’m Still Standing – Elton John – Naima

There were also a lot of songs by Elton John not sung that are in the iTunes top 1000.

    No Traction:
    Country Comfort – Scotty
Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting – James

I’ve seen a couple of videos of Casey’s set from seats that were way out in the venue. Both of them showed that most of the crowd was there. Great exposure for Casey. I also think it helps that his songs were all great. IMHO of course. ;-)

Wow – 2 out of 3 of the Sugarland shows sold out plus the other almost there. Even if all of these people may not have been there when Casey played, I’m sure a large percentage were and he picked up some fans!

Wow 17 tousand people in Dublin? Louis must be proud of them.
JLS has really become the “Daughtry” of the Uk X factor. I hope the US version can find groups as good as them.
