Idol Sales News – Week Ending 09/14/08

Please not that the above numbers are the Top 50 song from the download charts plus a few extra songs that have made à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“interestingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  gains in the top 200. Later today, Ken Barnes at Idol Chatter (USA Today) will come out with the full list of Idols in the top 200. We get data as it dribbles out.

Here is some of the airplay chart (this is a differential from last week so the numbers in brackets are gains or losses in millions of audience impressions since last week).

No. 14 – Jordin Sparks ( 1.7 million) lw 16
No. 20 – Leona Lewis ( 3.2 million) lw 22
No. 23 – Jennifer Hudson ( 1.1 million) lw 26
No. 54 – Daughtry ( 1.4 million) lw 60
No. 64 – David Archuleta ( 1.6 million) lw 75

Yay, sales increase again for Crush. And it entered top 10 this morning! The MV is sitting at #1. I think we will see more increase next week. I think his airplay increase is still slow. At this speed when is he going to be in top 50 in airplay?

ianamy, 64 is before recurrents are removed, so he’ll be higher after they are removed.

I think Jive has a plan for Crush. They’ll push the airplay to coincide with the release for the album. They’ll want it to be in Top 10 or Top 5 by the time the album drops. No guarantee that it’ll happen that way but they’re good at this kind of stuff. If Crush continues at this rate of sales, it’ll easily go gold in two weeks.

This week’s #10 seller at itunes sold 89K. Of course, that doesn’t mean Crush will sell that many. Still, the longer he can stay at that number, the better.

well Fallout boy was in #10 for a while but they were also higher on itunes earlier in the week.

If “Crush” stays steady at #10 on iTunes for the rest of the week, I expect about 70-75K next week, which would be awesome. I’m just really happy the numbers increased again this week. Gold in two weeks is definite (which would put it at the 7 week mark, which is what I predicted after the first week–go me!). I think “Crush” would have to move up to a sales position of #7 or #8 on iTunes to get Gold in one week.

David C.’s The Time of My Life is down a bit, 71-73, selling 19,000, a 4% drop, for a total of 881,000.

Congratulations to David A. He’s obviously crossed over to having success with a non-Idol audience now.

Now David C. will obviously hit 900,000 by the end of the month, but will there eventually be a pot of platinum at the end of the magic rainbow?

I’m betting eventually. I just don’t know how long eventually will be. Perhaps a small sales bump when his new music comes out. Perhaps it will be used as a song for another montage or in some TV show.

Jordin and Archie are stuck! lol. I know Archie has a bullet b/c of increased sales and increased airplay. Jordin may have a bullet as well because she increased airplay and I think that would make up for her drop in sales. Awesome that Cook is still in the 40s with TOML!

What are both of Daughtry’s albums counted as the same thing? Is there any way to tell how many sales for each the CD and the Deluxe Edition?

Have any of the coronation songs, other than Kelly’s, even had a music video? I recall seeing hers on television but since then, I’ve never seen any of the others (granted, I wasn’t a fan of the show in the past either, so it could be that I just didn’t notice).
