Please not that the above numbers are the Top 50 song from the download charts plus a few extra songs that have made à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“interestingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ gains in the top 200. Later today, Ken Barnes at Idol Chatter (USA Today) will come out with the full list of Idols in the top 200. We get data as it dribbles out.

Here is some of the airplay chart (this is a differential from last week so the numbers in brackets are gains or losses in millions of audience impressions since last week).

    No. 16 – Jordin Sparks ( 6.3 million) lw 19
    No. 22 – Leona Lewis ( 4.2 million) lw 28
    No. 26 – Jennifer Hudson ( 13.4 million) lw 48
    No. 60 – Daughtry ( 3.6 million) lw 71
    No. 61 – Artists Stand Up ( 6.3 million) lw 90
    No. 75 – David Archuleta ( 3.0 million) lw 94

Jennifer is at number 3 on the R&B airplay chart

Increase in sales already? Go Crush!

Airplay is increasing so slowly comparing to other idol songs. Wow, Jennifer.

  • frogcooke

well last week also included the holiday week end, so spins and airplay were down a bit.

  • jpfan

Wow, Jennifer Hudson’s airplay is so much bigger than her sales. That’s really odd. Maybe she’ll sell albums and not singles.

Archie has the opposite situation where his sales are much greater than his airplay would indicate. Not really a problem as his radio play is def increasing daily.

  • cruzceleste

I have starting to have a love hate relantionship with being a fan… I miss those days when I didn ´t care how much an artist were selling… now I hate charts, but I have to see them… I miss my normal life :(

  • frogcooke

The airplay rankings are before recurrents are removed right?

  • spritely

ianamy, I don’t know about comparatively with other Idols, but I don’t think DA’s airplay is increasing slowly at all. I’ve been following his progress while I chart DC’s, and I think it’s really impressive. Just from yesterday to today alone, for instance, on the three rolling charts. . .DA moved from 22 to 21 on AC where’s he’s sure to go into Top 20 very soon. . .he moved from 33 to 31 on HAC. . .and although he maintained at 22 on Top40, he could move to 21 at any time now. Plus, all three charts have bullets. Really, he’s doing great.

  • ianamy

Ok. I see he is making progress.

Do Daughtry also get airplay from rock stations? He is doing well.

  • jollyoldfella

    How bout Cook’s?

  • Jolene

Aww, Cookie needs a new single already. The Magic Rainbow can only go so far, and I think it has exceeded most expectations.
Good thing that appearantly a new single is coming soonish.

I’m curious to know about KLC. I don’t get why they released her single so early if they had no intention to promote it. Makes no sense to me. For her and her fans sake I hope she gets a push after the tour is over.

  • frogcooke

Jolene I heard Kristy is supposed to be on Regis soon.

  • AInoob

I wonder if Kristy is getting any airplay on country radio. I hope she does well. Heck, since this is my first season of following the show religiously, to some degree I feel invested in all of them so I hope they all do well within their genres.

I’m happy to see Jennifer is gaining airplay, though her sales still seem lousy in comparison. Spotlight is pretty catchy, enough that I downloaded it and have it on my daily playlist, lol.

  • jpfan

Crush is doing very well on the charts so no need to worry. And it’s good news if TOML starts to fade. That’s usually when the label puts out the next single.

  • spritely

Cookie is holding at #1 on AC, but today on the rolling charts he fell from #6 to #7 on HAC (even though he’s tied for spins with the new #6), and he’s falling fast on Top40 where he’s now 35 and he was in the 20′s last week.. If his new single drops this month, it’s coming in at the perfect time, imo.

  • Kirsten

The airplay rankings are before recurrents are removed right?

Correct. I probably should have mentioned that.

For those wondering: Recurrents are not eligible for some charts. Something becomes recurrent after a certain length of time or after dipping below a certain threshold (e.g. Albums become recurrent and move to the catalogue chart if they have been out for 18 months and dip below the Top 100). Therefore, songs could chart higher than indicated by the airplay numbers posted.

    How bout Cookà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s?

Sorry. No details about Cook’s numbers have leaked so far.

I wonder if Kristy is getting any airplay on country radio.

She is. She is currently sitting at 41 on the Country Airplay chart with 505 spins and 2.554 million AI. She doesn’t seem to have gotten as much promo as Kellie did when she released her first CD (and those two are releasing CDs within two weeks of each other). AllAccess lists Kirsty’s label as Arista which, IMO, has done some questionable promo in the past. Kellie is with BNA which does a top rate job of promo (IMO).

Lots of good numbers today! So happy that Jordin is getting what could be a solo top 5 song. And I wasn’t expecting an increase in Archie’s numbers, but I like it very much. Great spin increase for Crush today too. I heard that, since he’s a debut artist some stations are waiting for Crush to hit top 50 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. He may get into the 60s this week, it looks like. So close to top 20 in CHR. Video should be officially out next week with ET airing something about David (probably the video shoot, since they were there) tomorrow. And he may do one or more Jingle Balls this year (I don’t think that’s confirmed).

Go Jennifer! Those are some impressive airplay gains. I admit I haven’t heard her single yet but I’ll check it out.

  • Trina

Even though the magic rainbow has been #1 on Mediabase AC this makes me happy.

That should mean he’ll be #1 on Billboard tomorrow I think?

  • frogcooke

I wasnt sure where to put this.. lol But I found it interesting, and it sort of works into the airplay angle. sort of.

Seems Crush is playing on 3 south african radio stations. A new one just showed up this morning, on yes.com. He had been showing up on one of their stations, but within the last 2 days 2 more stations have shown up.

  • spritely

Lovely chart, Trina. :) ::pets chart::

There is one AC station that has refused to pick up TOML for all this time. I don’t know why unless they hate AI or him, or me. But they’re finally spinning it now. I guess once it hit #1 in their format they pretty much had to cave. nyah nyah.

  • clee1107

I’m very impressive how Jive is doing.
Jordin and David A are doing really well.
I think they know this music business.
When I heard crush as BGM of abc drama, “wow”. I think its gonna be huge help.
Both are climbing up all charts.
Great spin & sales increase for “One Step at a Time” and “Crush”

Idol album sales numbers from Ken Barnes HERE.

  • jan

Ken Barnes now has the numbers for downloads.

David C.’s The Time of My Life is down 61-71, selling 20,000, a 6% drop, for a total of 863,000.

  • frogcooke

Crush is #32 on the Hot 100.

    31 32 DAVID ARCHULETA CRUSH

(only a one position drop probably due to 2 songs landing higher on the chart.)

  • soundscene

Notably, “Crush” is still bulleted this week despite the 1 position drop. It means it had significant gains in either airplay or sales (airplay most likely since sales only went up 3%).

  • Trina

I had a feeling Fred Bronson would write about TOML’s #1 this week:
    Magic rainbow indeed!

  • tij
