In the midst of the exciting AI7 news, I have exciting (for me, LOL) AI5 news about Elliott. His recently released song, “Wait For You” is #6 on the Japanese Hot 100 chart.

So all the performances and studio versions are no longer available except from Time Of My Life, what is the logic of not making them available, when they are selling?

One thing these numbers show is how consistently great DC’s performances were on the show.
Almost ALL his songs are in the top 100- I count out only Baba and All I Really Need — but were they available to download at all? can someone tell me? i would be surprised if they were because they were two good ones and they’re not on the chart.
(sorry but I can’t access iTunes US so don’t know)

It’s crazy. DC fanatic madness going on!!!

I don’t usually follow sales but it is interesting to see. I would have added another sale for DC and Jason but they had cut them off by the morning after the finale. That suprised me since they had given an extra few days last season. I’m happy to see Michael’s “Dream On” get a flurry at the end which is one of my favorites of his studio mp3s.

I just wanted to weigh in here about the d/l’s. I was one who downloaded quite a few of JC’s songs and a couple of videos.

Thanks Kirsten for your number crunching. I’m from the world of engineering and numbers are something I know. I’m sure Kirsten knows this, when doing comparisons you need to compare apples to apples and not oranges. But I’m glad for DC that he has done so well. Good for him

And that’s not even for a full week. Magic Rainbow’s figures reflect four days of sales and the others were for three days before they were removed from sale. Very impressive indeed.

My jaw hit the floor when Bax emailed me these numbers earlier today. Just wow.

I am going to beg and plead Ken Barnes, when he gets back from his vacation, to request the overall sales of the tracks from iTunes, like he got last year. I am REALLY curious about how the tracks did throughout the season. I can understand why TPTB didn’t want the tracks to chart during the season, but what can it hurt now, right?

Congrats to DC. May he ride that magic rainbow out of the ashes and find his wings so he can deliver me some awesome music to buy!

Ok….I’m STUNNED. Not for DC’s Magic Rainbow numbers, but for his total DL’s this week. HOLY CRAP!!! And to think, most of the older songs, BJ, ABMB, HELLO, etc are for this week only. I would kill to know the total numbers for all of his songs throughout the season. TPTB at RCA and 19( pick a letter) have to be giddy right about now. They got themselves one hell of a winner this year.

Hope like hell DC has one great accountant working for him.

I also do not believe that the dl numbers for all of the contestants are complete. A small common sense observation: JordinÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s OSAAT is new to the top 200 dl chart this week but it does not say new, it says off because the track was already available for download and its previous figure carried over into this weekÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s additions. All of the AI performance tracks say NEW.

Just to be clear, the “NEW” and “OFF” are conventions that I follow to make it simpler for people to understand. I take the SoundScan numbers and try to make them a little easier to read (SS numbers look like something sent via Telex and the columns can be cryptic to new readers). Plus, depending on the source for the SS numbers, they columns are different. So, I standardize things.

The actual SS representation for both NEW and OFF is –. The percentage increase is limited to three digits, so it’s 999 for percentages greater than that. Because the previous week’s sales are 0, there is in a infinite increase in sales (divide by 0). For non-new singles with large increases, I calcuate the correct number.

All of the Season 7 Idol numbers were:
– Position LASTNAME*FIRSTNAME SONG NAME AMOUNT 999 0 TOTAL

example:
– 1 COOK*DAVID TIME OF MY LIFE 236024 999 0 236024

There were listed as being off the charts last week, having sold 0 items last week and having AMOUNT=TOTAL. So, I noted them as NEW.

I just didn’t want anybody to think that SS had given them that notation or that it had some sort of deeper meaning.

Help the slow girl here… Are these performances along with songs because I thought some of these songs weren’t done in the studio? I haven’t bought any songs from anyone so I’m not in the loop on this.

For those of us who have been avid viewers of AI for many seasons now, some just don’t realize that what we may term, “conspiracy theories,” is in fact, more along the lines of manipulations. However, none of us really know what goes on behind the scenes. But, this year in particular, that curtain has been pulled back a little further, and, even those who believe this show is on the up and up, are questioning some things.

For example, how do people relate the fact that Syesha had only one song, “One Rock & Roll Too Many,” to ever be downloaded on ITunes this season. She has virtually no representation on any of the message boards, and, came in 3rd? These are things that make you go, huh? It seems that Jason was truly in 3rd place, and, some weeks on ITunes, he matched Archie’s sales.

Call it what you want, but, if it looks like a duck, talks like a duck, then………………
