Idol Sales News – Week Ending 05/03/15

The Zac Brown Band can relax with their toes in the water and a cold beer in their hands…they have their third number one album by a convincing margin on both the sales and combined chart. Josh Groban, with a track featuring Kelly Clarkson, is also sitting firmly in second. The Furious 7 Soundtrack is out of the top 10 in sales, but strong single sales accelerate it into third on the combined. Alabama Shakes holds down fourth spot on both charts after debuting first last week. Tyler Farr slides from third to fifth from sales to combined. Fifty Shades of Grey and Megan Trainor see ordinal gains between the two charts while Drake, Taylor, Sam and Ed (still right next to each other) see drops.

The only singing show competitor on the sales chart is Miranda Lambert, but she drops off the combined chart. Fifth Harmony are not on the sales chart, but are on the combined. Maroon 5 represents the judges and they move up when you count TEAs/SEAs. Blake also has enough juice to get onto the combined chart based on the performance of his singles.

HDD is predicting Mumford and Sons will top the charts next week with 250-275K on the SPS. Their previous album, Babel, opened at 600K and went on to sell 3.1M TEA. Their debut, Sigh No More, opened with 5K and went on to move 3.9M TEAs. “Believe” recently topped the AAA chart and is making moves on HAC.
