I don’t think this is fair at all. I am a Cook fan, but I’m not now and never have been anti-Archie, not even close. At least speaking for myself, I really want (and expect) to see him succeed. Commenting on or, for that matter, even questioning his label/management’s marketing approach seems to be a legitimate topic of discussion to me, and reflects interest and concern for Archie rather than attacks.

I doubt if they would waste his success and talent on such an early show. I can't remember the exact dates his US tour ends or when the European tour is, but he does have some timing issues. For all the talk about how we are in a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“singles eraà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  now, singles still yield miniscule profits to everyone involved.

Sell enough of them though and they DO become profitable. Jordin sold around 7 million single downloads — roughly the financial equivalent of 700,000 album à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“unitsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  on itunes. And ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not impossible to sell both singles and albums sucessfully (see Daughtry with 8 million single downloads.)

And there are artists out there who are absolute single-selling monsters like Rihanna, but still find themselves out of favor with their labels because they donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t move sufficient numbers of albums.

Rihanna, along with Leona Lewis, was among the top ten world-wide album sellers of 2008. Add to that her massive single sales and thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s just no way Rihanna can be said to be underperforming…
