” I can never understand how record label chooses a song to be single,
his single Love Me Bad is one of the worst songs in the album.”

James explains the reason for choosing LMB as his first single in the rockline interview here:

People still say that Taylor was dropped because he didn’t sell a million albums, but that is a lie.  Taylor was dropped because he failed to establish himself in his genre, RCA felt it would be too hard to market him to such a niche audience, and those 700K-800K albums that he sold were clearly to his AI fans.

Saying Taylor failed to establish himself in his genre is like saying Taylor failed to swim after he had 10 pound weights strapped to his feet. Someday hopefully the truth can be known as it has only been hinted at. TAYLOR initiated the split from the label on threat of breach of contract. He was alluding to it to fans as early as the spring after he won. The record company was the one who failed Taylor, not the other way around. When his record was released, he had to make his media promo rounds without so much as a single that people could buy. He was the only idol winner never given a video that his (then rabid) fans could vote on VH1. Taylor got the WORST. DEAL. EVER.

But back to the subject at hand…Scotty has the country music establishment behind him. I also think he will make platinum, because he is perceived to be genuine in that genre (which he is) they will take care of him.

Add to what you have written Good Vibes… the show itself did not promote Taylor’s album.  It was as if he didn’t exist.  This also influences sales.  He is such a wonderful entertainer and respected by many in the business.  I still watch his performance on the Jimmy Fallon show.

This may be a stupid question or one nobody cares about but why is JLo’s On the Floor at 207k when in August it was at 2.9 mil? Is this some other version of the song? Is it Pitbull free or something? It really doesn’t matter but its driving me nuts trying to account for the discrepancy.

Happy Haley and Casey came in around 15,000 for a Christmas song that had little to no promotion. I hope it ends up at around 25,000 by New Years. Go Haley!!!

David Cook has hardly had a “flame out”. He’s currently on tour and done over 30 shows, most of those co-headlining with Gavin Degraw. Here in Cincinnati, I hear Cook on the radio almost daily. Not to mention that his current single “Fade Into Me” is gaining steam, sitting around #36 on the HAC chart.
