    Sorry, got idols mixed up

But what we do not know how much Trespassing sold in Canada, Japan etc.  For all we know he sold another 100,000 which brings him to 200,000 and in today’s sales enviroment that is not shabby.  I am sure RCA and Adam himself would have liked Trespassing to have sold more but without radio support that isn’t going to happen in the US.

But geeze Louise, if you are saying that 100,000 is lowly you must be as dismayed as I am over Kris’s & Haley’s sales because they are 1/4 of that?

I am more alarmed, saddened and worried about Haley & Kris’s sales than Adam’s.

I do not think this is correct.  I am not an Adam fan and when I go into the sales threads those like yourself and others whom I know stan another Idol are all there.

Most Adam fans do not visit other Idol contestants threads so a debate/discussion doesn’t ensue.

    This always happens with Adam.

Like I said like him or loath him, he has this effect.

Brian Mansfield posted that Phil sold 102k last week for a total of 380k. Way to go, especially since he had no radio play and hasn’t appeared on any TV show.
    Other tracks:
    We’ve Got Tonight (15,000, -65%, 58,000)
    Phillip Phillips, Volcano (14,000, -60%, 49,000)

    Wow… great news.

I’m a Cook fan…obviously. I have to disagree with you on Cook not being a interesting interview. I personally could listen to him talk all day long. The guy has personality oozing from him.
He does however, keep to himself quite a bit and getting yourself out there in the public eye more can indeed help sales.
Of course, I’m sure Kris and Cook know this but that isn’t their persona…So if that’s what they choose then so be it.
Adam however, seems to enjoy being in the spotlight. He does have that kind of personality and it works for him.

I wish that Kris had half of Adam’s sales. I think he is doing fantastic and I’m sure that he will continue to do well. I’m also not too worried about Haley. Her song is climbing the charts and she has other good songs which will be great singles. Her voice is different enough to set her apart from the rest.

I’m pretty sad for Kris. He sacrificed so much time with his wife to make this album and it’s turned into a disaster sales wise so far. It kind of hurts my heart a bit for him :(

Promo is meant to sell the artist as much as the music and all the promo in the world can’t sell a boring, rude or inarticulate person whose music is nothing special or even bad.

And when I say promo is meant to sell the artist I mean it gives the artist an opportunity to sell themselves and their music. The promo is just the platform it’s up to the artist whether they use it to their advantage or not.

This ALSO applies to ANY artist, not just Idols.

Promo is meant to sell the artist as much as the music and all the promo in the world can’t sell a boring, rude or inarticulate person whose music is nothing special or even bad.

The part about the music being nothing special or bad is highly subjective.  It’s not like let’s use Adam’s music as an example, has achieved as much as songs by Daughtry or Fantasia, for example, but he still gets a lot of promo.  Who knows if the music of others who don’t get as much promo would do well or not, if they or their music was heavily promoted.

The part about someone being boring always reminds me of the 2009 Rolling Stone article on Rob Thomas, which touched on how people have always labeled him as boring, yet, he’s a multi Grammy winner, with millions of albums sold under his belt.  Despite a sketchy up bringing, few media people would pay attention to Rob Thomas if it wasn’t for his music, which is why it’s so important for artists, managers, and publicists to bring as much attention as possible to the artist, if he or she manages to produce a hit song.  That is the optimal time to increase the artists visibility.

I’d have to disagree with you. There are not so many Adam fans on this site anymore, many have moved on to pastures new (other sites), too much negativity on here. and as Loretta says, Adam fans rarely post on other Idols threads either.

Nice post Loretta. Its always nice to see people give Adam a chance. So many times on blogs all we read is eww, he’s gay/digusting etc and people will never go beyond that. But the majority of fans love Adam for his personality as much as for his singing.

I love adams version of no boundaries, sounded great on his first CD.

I just now noticed this tweet from idolsnow:

    KRIS ALLEN’s
“Live Like We’re Dying” makes a huge rebound on the Christian Digital
Songs chart, jumping 46-23 with a bullet.

Rob had Matchbox 20 fame first, then as I remember got solo singer fame with Santana. He got the Grammys for the Santana song. I remember first taking notice of him then myself being a huge Santana fan. And I loved his voice.

His solo albums seem to have only sold a “couple” million max if that. His singles never did anything. The same can be said of Fantasia, and both of them have alot more years 5-10 more, in the business than Adam. In fact Rob went back with Matchbox 20 and seems to have given up his solo career.

Maybe if Fantasia had used the publicity she had in better ways, since she even had a television show, movie about her life and a couple of plays she was in. Yes they’re both more “famous” but they have alot more attempts on paper than Adam, in a time when music was selling better. So you’re right. They both dropped the ball on PR but I wouldn’t say they had weak PR to begin with. And neither is really “pop” which is different, I’ll admit.

We also have no idea what artists are paying their management group. It’s not like an attorney that you pay billable hours to. But it’s definitely not like they’re going to dedicate a body to PR for days at a time for cheap. Like Adam’s UK rep has spent days on end on just pretty much him, including sitting in the room all day with him picking out clothing and styling. He was even answering her phone for her like her secretary LOL.

I’m really excited to see how Haley’s sales do after she’s on The View on July 6th.

That’s a good song. I always thought it would do well.

“Before that, it was TOML and that thing was a beast!”

Heh. snow_ghost – it’s still rather beastly – Brian Mansfield’s Top 100 Idol Airplay songs from 6/25 has it at #29, with 626 spins for the week.

But I have to say it, standtotheright, the demons in “Home” and the Rainbow in ToML are just flip sides of the same cheesy lyrical coin, both made me giggle.
