American Idol Philadelphia Auditions – Idol reps said only 5 to 6000 of 15 to 28-year olds auditioned for the show in Philadelphia this year. That’s in contrast to 20,000 that showed up in 2007, to audition for the show’s 7th season. It was the first time auditions were held in Philly since then. – Read more at Philly.com

Rising country singer Scotty McCreery makes the most of ‘American Idol’ success – On the demise of American Idol, the season 10 winner said, “It’s sad to see it go, but it had a great run. It had a huge impact on pop culture and the music world, so I’m glad to be a small part of what that show was all about,” he said. “I don’t know what he secret recipe is, but I’m glad it worked out for me.” On the next album, Scotty says, “We’ve gotten five songs done out of twelve or thirteen,” He said, of his highly anticipated album. Though there are no collaborations yet, McCreery says that could change. “I’d love to work with Garth or someone like Dolly.
