Phillip Phillips to perform at Luhrs Center; singer talks Mumford and Sons comparison, ‘American Idol’ past and more – So you’ve got a new single out, care to tell us a little about it? “Yes. ‘Unpack your Heart.’ To me it’s a good little love song and it’s very universal. It can be about whatever you want, it doesn’t have to be about a girl and a guy, it could be whatever you want it to be about. It could be about your love for elephants or whatever it may be. To me it’s a beautiful little song that has a big meaning towards it. I think it’s good. Hopefully people will like it.” – Read more at Penn Live

Kris Allen Talks ‘American Idol’ Baby Boom, New Video, Fall Tour – “There is a lot that has to be done for people to hear the record,” he says. “You can’t just put out the record and hope people find it. You have to find ways to put it in front of people. I think people that hear it really like it, we’ve just got to find more ways to get people to hear it.” His plans include a fall tour with Boyce Avenue as his backing band, kicking off Oct. 17 in Nashville, and filming a new video for the single, “Prove it to You,” which will feature Allen’s duet partner on the track, Russian vocalist Lenachka. The lyric video for “Prove it To You,” was shot by Allen with his trusty iPhone, he revealed, but for the new clip, he and a buddy are going for something “a little more professional.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Former ‘Idol’ contestant Paul Jolley gets musical makeover with some Blount County assistance – For former Blount County resident Steven Paul, it’s apparently a little “American Idol.” The Nashville resident, who until earlier this year was the singer and guitarist for the rock band After Elvis — a fixture around East Tennessee several years ago before moving to Music City — has teamed up with former “American Idol” contestant Paul Jolley, and the two are embarking on a new musical adventure. Jolley released two new singles on Friday — “Flip the Switch” and “Givin’ You,” which feature a harder edge than Jolley’s previous pop-country material and a simmering intensity that bears some resemblance to Paul’s After Elvis material. Paul has no doubt that After Elvis fans will likely be taken aback, as will those familiar with the material Jolley sang in his “American Idol” days. Most of the new material was written in Alcoa at the home of former After Elvis drummer Jared Everett, and the end result has been something that’s the equivalent of hitting the resent button on Jolley’s career, he said. – Read more at The Daily Times

DWTS S19 Final Rehearsals

Pro-dancer, Cheryl Burke, says this season of DWTS will probably be her last.

‘Survivor’ host Jeff Probst on importing other reality stars – “I love the sisters,” says Probst. “I think they’re colorful. I like that they’re twins…. I’m guessing that having somebody that has your back all the time like a twin does, allows you be a little more aggressive in life, and maybe walk through a door that you wouldn’t walk through if you were alone. And if that assumption is true, then that means they have had a lot more life experiences at their age by virtue of being twins than they would have being not twins. And I think that’s big life experience.” – Read more at Entertainment Weekly
