Phillip Phillips rocks Albany Homecoming for Music=Change – Q. Let’s talk a little about music. If I grabbed our iPod and popped on a playlist what might I hear? ##A. Man, I’ve gotten into Radiohead a lot real deep, such amazing stuff. Peter Gabriel I love. He’s so incredible. Listening to those two bands and artist they had a little bit of inspiration on this new album, which is kind of fun. But Peter Gabriel, like I said, he’s got this swag to his music that’s just so sick. And Radiohead it’s very technical, but in a very strange, heavy rock way and the lyrics are unbelievable. And Fink, Fin Grenall, he’s become one of my good friends. He’s a great musician, great writer as well. I listen to a lot of different things. If you go through my iPod it goes from Charlie Daniels to Tool to whoever else you can think of probably. – Read more at Albany Herald

Brad Paisley, scarred by mistakes, shares album his way – “It’s me getting to be me,” he said. “If you look at ‘Rising Star’ this summer, it’s been a showcase for who I am. If you see ‘Planes: Fire and Rescue,’ that’s me. The album is very me. My Country Nation is me. The CMAs will be me and Carrie doing that. It’s letting people be a part of what it’s like to be a friend of mine. “That’s been the most rewarding thing, if I think about it, that more people figured me out this year than ever have. And it’s a great thing to feel understood for who you are.” – Read more at The Tennessean

Aiken getting mixed reviews for fundraising efforts – According to the most recent campaign finance reports from June 30, Aiken has raised nearly $687,000 for his bid to represent North Carolina’s 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House and has $209,000 in cash on hand. By comparison, his opponent, incumbent Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.) has raised $1.3 million for her campaign and has $405,000 in her coffers. Stuart Rothenburg, editor of the Rothenburg Political Report, said the amount Aiken has raised is “low, it’s not horrendous, it’s low,” but makes his challenge even more difficult. “When you look at his money, he doesn’t compare to these serious candidates,” Rothenburg said. “You can’t run a media campaign on that. He needs to have four or five times more in cash on hand on June 30. It just adds to the overwhelming evidence that he’s not a serious threat.” – Read more at The Washington Blade

Ryan Seacrest Opens Up About Fame, Love and Turning 40 – Ryan Seacrest is head over heels. In fact, his new love – a fresh-faced, raven-haired beauty who’s totally into him too – moved into his Beverly Hills home five months ago. So what if Seacrest’s new roomie is a 40-lb. black Lab named Georgia? “It’s a big deal,” says Seacrest, relaxed and upbeat as he settles into a couch on his cliff-side patio overlooking a pool and the sprawl of Los Angeles below. “I’ve never done this before!” The 39-year-old American Idol host says committing to a puppy “is me saying to myself, ‘You should have a little responsibility’ … I’m turning 40 and it’s a turning point number. You go, ‘Wait, you’ve got to grow up a little bit.'” – Read more at People
