Sparks and Houston bring the ‘Sparkle’ – “Sparkle is a very emotional character. She’s strong-willed and determined, but she’s really sensitive and very loyal as well,” she says. “I didn’t want to focus so much on exactly what Irene Cara did in the original. Jordin Sparks: “I Want Fans to See How Happy Whitney Was” - “I knew my lines. I knew everybody else’s lines,” Sparks told ABC News Radio. “I knew their exits and entrances and that’s really what helped me as soon as I got there and then I just learned from everybody else.” The young singer also got Houston’s seal of approval for the job she did on the film, which she says meant the world to her. Maksim Chmerkovskiy Hope Solo is LYING … I Never Slapped Her – Maksim Chmerkovskiy is adamant … he NEVER slapped Hope Solo across the face behind the scenes at “Dancing with the Stars” … despite allegations she made in her new book. TMZ has learned … Maksim was absolutely shocked when he heard about the “completely false” story in Hope’s book, “Solo: A Memoir of Hope” … in which the Team USA soccer star claims Maksim pulled a Rick James while trying to put her head in the correct position for a dancing move. The two were partners on “DWTS” in 2011. Sources close to Maksim tell us … he has no idea why Solo would publish such a false and defamatory statement and doesn’t know why she would have such ill will towards him … especially because they’ve had dinner several times since the show ended. In fact, Hope JUST tweeted Maksim right before the Olympics, offering him free seats to one of the Team USA soccer games. – Read more at TMZ

    Wasn’t Tamyra tacked onto part of the S3 Idols tour? While this move with Haley may look a little desperate and cheap it’s not unprecedented for 19. I don’t know if that’s reassuring exactly.

    Tacking her on to the entire tour, or even more than one date, is cheap, tacky, and lazy, but this is different.  

    It is a fail that the performance will just be in front of AI fans, but hopefully there is still a chance that the Clear Channel stations will repay Haley for this.

    It seems like most Idols bend over backwards for radio for little to nothing in return, so I’m not holding my breath.

    This is 19 picking up the slack for Interscope not yet pulling the trigger on a tour for Haley. They decided it was worth “slumming” with S11′s top finisher’s because it’s the NYC media market. The last person the station’s site shows appearing at the theater is Adele.

    Thanks for putting this up in the Headlines Thread, mj. I didn’t know Juliet Simms was from Clearwater FL. But then, I also didn’t know she had been on The Voice. It’s an interesting line up, David, Edwin McCain and Juliet Simms head the top of the list, but there are other people on the bill; I don’t know them, some folks will.

    Even though it’s three weeks away, the tickets are on sale now – the GA tickets are a deal at $20 – but the Park holds 8,000 and there are only 250 VIP tickets available – so if someone is considering the conveniences listed: VIP tix are $100 and all inclusive of food and drink. Private bathrooms and an Artist meet and greet is also included. VIP tix allow you to stay in VIP tent or roam the park freely. Tent will be located next to stage. Approx. 250 will be available. Park holds approx 8,000.  – it may be a good idea to click on mj’s link provided in the Headline post.

    Funny thing, much of the focus in the Twitter timeline is on the private bathrooms. I guess people are used to rough and ready amenities in a Park venue. Heh.

    I always thought it was management’s responsibility for setting up the tour so are you saying Haley has a 360 deal so label is more responsible in setting up her tour?

    The z100 shows are usually streamed on all the clear channel stations. Adam did a concert at PC Richard in May that was streamed and the videos are put up on the site. Carrie also did a concert for them. I imagine the same will happen for the idols and Haley.

    So it’s the ‘building from the ground up’ strategy it seems.  Laying the ground work.  They really haven’t spent alot of money on her so maybe they’re spreading the investment over time rather than putting it all in one or two massive efforts.  Just depends on how patient they are willing to be and how soon the payoff happens.

    That’s what I’m not sure of, reason being Interscope is one of UMG’s biggest labels, we’re not just talking about a major label but one of the biggest players in the mainstream. If she was on a genre specific indie label then I can be confident that they will be patient and not worry about her catching on at radio immediately. This is a new scenario, the only other example on an Idol on a major not releasing immediately is Casey James and his outcome is still to be determined as well.
