Tour Hits Carly Smithson’s San Diego Where We Visit Hubby Todd

Immediately after the Glendale, Ariz., show, the Idols boarded buses and attempted to sleep on the long ride across the desert to San Diego, site of their second concert. Reports seemed near unanimous that little sleeping got done on this first overnight trip as they each adjusted to their new homes for the next 52 cities and counting à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’- bunks on the boys’ and girls’ buses. David Cook said later in the day that he had been too pumped up with adrenaline from the excitement of the Glendale show to get much sleep. In any event, by the evening, if their enthusiasm remained undimmed, it was tinged offstage with a barely perceptible bleary quality.

American Idol Tour Photos in San Diego

Cali Kat Phan of the Idol Forums was nice enough to post the photos she took of the top 10 American Idols as they arrived in San Diego! Judging from the pics, it seems as though our Idols were really open to hanging out with their fans and that the fans in turn were really mindful of others and waited their turn to have photos with them. Thanks for sharing, Cali!

Phil Stacey Release Flag Tribute Song

Rising Country Music star and former American Idol contestant Phil Stacey is releasing his new single titled à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Old Gloryà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ just in time for the Fourth of July holiday.

“The song is really just an allegory for this country,” Stacey said. “It’s using the flag to represent our nation, which is exactly what the flag is. The flag has been tattered, turned and burned, but she hasn’t lost any dignity. It’s just like our country.”

Stacey was inspired to write the song long before his Idol days while he was serving in the United States Navy. After playing it with a Navy band and most recently performing it at the Grand Ole Opry, the song has gained popularity, according to the tennessean.com.

Montgomery Gentry, Swift lead Billboard country charts

Montgomery Gentry is number 1 on the Billboard country song chart with “Back When I Knew It All,” and Taylor Swift leads the country album chart with her self-titled debut for the week ending July 12. Montgomery Gentry secured the top spot from Kenny Chesney’s “Better a Memory,” which slipped to third.

On the song chart, Blake Shelton stayed second with “Home.” Alan Jackson was up one to fourth with “Good Time.” Dierks Bentley moved up two to fifth with “Trying to Stop Your Leaving.” Brooks & Dunn was a big mover, up three to sixth with “Put a Girl In It.” Keith Anderson’s back in the top 10 with “I Still Miss You,” the first single from his forthcoming CD, “C’mon.”

Idols continue to sing through their 15 minutes

There can be only one winner of “American Idol” each season, as fans of Fox’s ratings behemoth know. And for every Carrie Underwood, and, perhaps, Kelly Clarkson, there is a LaKisha Jones, a Jon Peter Lewis and an Anwar Robinson, to name just three of the also-rans from the first six seasons of the show who will appear at the Rrazz Room over the next nine weeks.

The often pleasant and sometimes awkward 90-minute set by Lewis, Robinson and Jones on Wednesday night at the Rrazz was a good reminder that, as hyped up as each “Idol” season becomes as the thousands of contestants get narrowed down to the final 10, this is a contest for amateurs and less-than-seasoned professionals.

Week 4 results on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’

The group number is to “Money Money” from the New Broadway Cast Recording of Cabaret. I wasn’t too much into it but it might just be because of the insane number of unnecessary camera cuts. Oh. It was a Tyce Di Orio number. That also explains things. I don’t always dig his stuff. But at least Cat Deeley looks good tonight.

Katee & Joshua and Kherington & Twitch are the first two couples on stage. Neither of them are in the bottom, to both their delight and that of the crowd. After the commercials, Kourtni L. & Matt have gained no reprieve in their seemingly constant Bottom Three status. Chelsie H. & Mark are safe but Courtney & Gev take their first dip into the bottom, mostly likely thanks to the uneven showing in their Hip Hop routine.

Canadian Idol: Not Exciting

Four more contestants were eliminated from Canadian Idol on Wednesday night. Lisa Bell, Paul Clifford, Jesse Cottam and Jessica Sheppard (who’s now been eliminated twice) found no love from Canadian voters after their performances on Monday and Tuesday nights and were sent packing.

This week’s results show introduced yet another exciting change for Idol. We got to see more performances. Each judge picked his or her favourite singer from this week to do an encore. Woo hoo! Recaps and show favourites usually come at the end of a season, not one or two days after the initial performance. Come on, give us something more entertaining. It’s not like this show isn’t dragged out enough already.

Working with Lloyd Webber to learn the “Cats” anthem “Memory” was particularly awkward when the composer had to explain the tune was sung by a cat.

“While we’re kind of different and didn’t really exactly see eye to eye, I really remember him as being one of the most passionate people I ever met,” Castro says of the British theater titan. “That’s one thing I think music thrives on, or at least should. “I love to write music.” Writes Jon Peter Lewis on his website. But his talents go beyond penning possible future pop hits. He’s directing the “American Idols Live” ensemble, performing on his own new CD “Break The Silence” and touring across the country.

If that’s not challenging enough, Plan B is pretty impressive too. “I was getting ready for Medical School; getting all of my microbiology out of the way…” He says. “I still have this dream of taking the MCAT and doing really well on it…”

Simon’s news is that he’s going to marry Leona Lewis and have many babies with her (one more than whatever Angelina Jolie ends up with). They’ll get hitched in a special double ceremony with David Cook and Mandy Moore. Terri and Kimberly Caldwell will be outside, looking in, with single tears running down their cheeks.

After that, Simon is going to oust everybody else associated in a production or judging capacity with AI so he can be the solo producer and solo judge.

    And after that… The world!

Nothing against KC (well, OK, something), but David should definitely give it a try with Mandy. Something tells me she might also be the only woman the fans will accept happily.

Well, it’s a long shot, but it could happen.

We all know that “Memory” wasn’t sung by a real cat, don’t we? If my cat could sing, I’d be a millionaire.

Maybe Simon is going to marry Terri Seymour after all. I imagine he’ll have either Clay Aiken or Taylor Hicks sing at the wedding. More than likely, it’ll be Taylor, since he is a pro at being a drunken wedding singer.

I thought he said the Mandy Moore thing as a joke?

While the OK article was interesting (that DC and KC were going out for a month before anyone found out….not that a tabloid article is necessarily going to be true, haha), I thought the comments posted at the bottom were awful. Why can’t people let these two crazy kids who obviously dig each other just be happy?

Mandy Moore is single now? Sad news. The wheels in my head will stop turning…right about now. Hmmmmm…. Oh well. Fate.

Simon’s got a “fantastic” announcement, huh? He’s marrying Paula.

  • spritely

I’m really tickled that DC and KC played their sweet little drama for tv. It was fun, clever, good-natured. . .and gave them some room for themselves beforehand. While I might *like* to know all the real details, they don’t owe me ANY of that, ever. I’m totally on the side of celebrities keeping their personal lives private for as long as they can. If that means punking the press and “lying” to the public (me!), then lie, babies, lie!! I just appreciate it that when they ‘came out,’ they used some imagination and made it sparkle a little.

But. . .if they ever break up? And Mandy goes in for the grab? Hey, does that mean my hope of him getting together with Carrie Underwood is over? :p

Maybe Simon’s announcement is that AI has signed on through the year 2026, giving me hope of continuing to feed my addiction for quite some time.

On second thought, that might not be such a great idea.

  • cookcricket

I’ve been cool about the whole KC thing, but that article made it sound like he got her on the ‘rebound’. Grrrrrr…he deserves so much better than that!

Oh well, waiting to hear ‘truth’ coming directly from him if he decides to share.

Simon sure knows how to drop a ‘teaser’. Let’s see…He’s personally going to back DC 1000% (he did mention ‘whatever it is’ will make him more successful), but then DC says, “sorry, I can do better without you.” LOL

Seriously though Simon is undeniably very successful so of course I’m very curious.

Simon’s big news – He’s producing a Broadway play full of ex-Idols?? He’s getting married? What could it be? Back in the day, I remember Taylor being the ones the fans wanted to hook up with Mandy Moore. They even had dinner together in NYC. I guess she’s the ultimate Idol dream girlfriend.

  • Layla

I really and truly do not understand why some fans think it is their right to pick out a celebrity’s mate? WTF??? That is really crazy and delusional to me.

What some fans fail to realize is, is that we fans do not know these celerbities on a personal basis and are not privy to what turns them on in a mate.

KC is pretty (would be prettier without all the goop on her face) and probably good and experienced in the lovemaking dept. She understands the idol thing DC says she’s supportive of him and his family. That she seems loud and brassy doesn’t make her wrong for him. My only problem with her is that I want him to be with some one who can be a muse for his talent….she doesn’t eem “deep”. But who knows…maybe she is.

When I think about it, KC is probably infactuated to the hilt with DC…why not? we are!!!!!!!!!

Top 10 Big News Items Simon has to Announce:

    1) Inspired by Mike Myers appearance on the finale, Simon has decided to chuck the material world and live in an Ashram in Oregon.

    2) Last year he claimed he was a bigger asset to Sony/BMG than Springsteen, this year he’s going to claim to be bigger than Clive…er…Barry…er…better make it Clive. He has magical powers of evil while Barry seems kind of normal for now.

    3) Simon is going to replace himself on the AI judging panel with a robot. This robot will auto-generate comments like “I don’t mean to be rude, but I’ve heard better [derogatory term for singer] in a [derogatory location] in [random Eastern Block country]” (e.g. “lounge singer in a hen house in Bulgaria”)

    4) Last year, Simon took a luxury limo to explore the mysteries of that rare and unknown place called “The Food Bank”. This year, he will drive around the USA in a Hummer to enlighten the world about the need to conserve energy.

    5) Simon has declared himself King of England. The current Queen and her assorted relatives are being evicted from Buckingham Palace as we speak.

    6) Simon is tired of judging talent contests. He is going to propose a new show where he displays his many and assorted talents. People can vote each week on which talent they admire the most. No matter what happens, Simon wins a $100M prize.

    7) Simon is going to rant about how the music industry is unfair and how he plans on being a beacon of hope, patience and tolerance in the otherwise bleak landscape.

    8) Simon will finally admit that he cuts his own hair with a flowbee.

    9) Simon has had an epiphany. He now loves Broadway and cruise ships. This has nothing to do with the secret Simon karaoke tapes that have been inundating the internet.

    10) Simon will reveal to the world that he does, in fact, eat babies.

I guess I never understood why fans don’t think someone the idolize should have a private life. They are entitled to one as much as the next person. And, that goes for DC as well. If he likes KC, then more power to them. Being in the limelight isn’t easy, and, you need someone who understands and has had similar experiences. Kim has a great personality and is very attractive. I just can’t see DC with Mandy Moore. I don’t think he hired us to play matchmaker for him, did he? If so, I didn’t get the memo. He doesn’t owe his fans anything other than to make good music. This is my story, and,I’m sticking to it.

    Re: Running My Life

    ————————

It has come to my attention that I will go far on this little show called “American Idol”. As such, I feel that I need help from all of my devoted fans. Even though I have managed to achieve the age of 25, lived on my own, obtained a degree, earned a steady pay cheque, fed myself and learned to tie my own shoelaces, I fear that I am not qualified to make any of my own decisions going forth. This is a new and scarey stage of my life and I require assistance.

Please offer advice on the following:

    1. My love life – if you do not tell me which woman to date I may end up dating somebody who you consider beneath me. Or even worse, I may end up paying some woman to be my fake girlfriend.

    2. My clothes – I cannot be trusted to dress myself. Please feel free to pick apart all my fashion choices.

    3. My health – I am clearly an idiot. I do not know whether I should drink or smoke or even when I’m feeling ill. Please make sure that you mother me to death. If I end up crabby at a meet-and-greet, it’s because I’m not getting enough rest. Please do not let that happen.

    4. My career – All the people at the record label are idiots (we get along well). Please let me know which type of songs I should record, who should write them and how the songs should be promoted. Don’t worry, if I flop, we can always blame the idiots at the record label.

    5. Defend Me – There are evil people out there that will say nasty things about me on blogs and in concert reviews. Make sure that you call them horrible names and start fan wars wherever you can. Also, hound DJs to play my songs. They love that and it’s the only way I will ever be a success.

Thanks! With your help, I can navigate the trials and tribulations that I’m about to face.

    Make a Decision for David!

    Facial Hair this week:

    * None
    * Full beard
    * Soul patch
    * Scruff

Then all he’d have to do is check in with us. Easy peasy!

HIs mom is blonde and seems to have an over the top personallity like KC so maybe he likes this type. I think I would like her and at least it wouldn’t be boring. I think the asking her out on TV was a way to let the world know that he had a love interest and I thought it was sweet anyway. I’m just a hopeless romantic I guess. :wub_tb:

Kirsten, you came and delivered, as usual! :D

Hey, wasn’t there anything on the memo on Cookie’s necklaces? Maybe there should be. Those things could choke him! LOL

This is a little interesting. Those who are against stating how they feel about DC’s personal life seem to me as vehement as those who want to comment on it. IMHO.

I’m so glad we can’t actually have an influence on him!

I do want to say one thing, I truly thought the flower thing was so very sweet, and I don’t think he ever thought it would bring this much controversy. I may be wrong since I don’t know him personally…

I have never, ever seen his mom as being over the top. Only a sweet, loving very supportive mother. I will add that’s my opinion.

I hope I’m not too much off topic here, because I love coming here and commenting from time to time.

How ironic that mainstream media (My Fox KC) is actually referencing and linking to user-uploaded bootleg video on YouTube. :D

I see it more as a backlash against those who think they get to decide when he goes to the bathroom and what toilet paper he uses just because they voted for him…oh and I’d love to see an example of his mother as being over the top. Maybe it was the squeee she let out when he got his golden ticket. I mean, what mother would be excited for her son :mad_tb:

Kirsten, as others have already stated, that was simply brilliant. ROFL!

    LMAO. Very funny ya’all….

On the numerous ocassions his mother has been shown she has been absolutely classy and supportive of her son. Have yet to see anything over the top with her.

I don’t get what’s so great and/or special about Mandy Moore? She seems to have her own issues in the relationship dept. She is very pretty but a singer she is not. Seems like a sweet girl tho’.

I’m sure DC could care less what the fans think about his personal life.

It’s a lose-lose situation, as far as opinions are concerned. As long as the news is picking it up, I guess fans will feel that it’s a topic for discussion. My personal feelings about Mandy Moore, Keira Knightley, or Kimberly Caldwell are moot points. He can date Joan Rivers, for all I care…as long as he’s happy.

Heh. Just remembered one fan’s account of meeting him in Fresno. He reads the IDF boards. All he had to say was, “Play nice.”

I would certainly say Jason handled his comments quite nicely. Yes, passion, that’s the right word, Jason!

Loved the job Taylor Hicks did on national television. What a great entertainer he is. I loved his energy and stage persona.

Purple, thank you for the tour book link!

Kirsten, your lists are hilarious. Love people w/ as sense of humor!

DC’s mom, I believe is opposite of over the top.

One thing that impressed me about Syesha’s blog was her mentioning that David Cook stood with her while she waited to go on stage before Glendale when she was nervous. One reviewer commented on Cook standing in the side stage, listening to Brooke during the same concert. You’ve got to think that he was watching some of his other buddies’ performances. That’s just seems so nice, to be showing that much interest and solidarity.
