Wonderful news for country music lovers. Just saw on Taste of Country, the great Randy Travis is well on his way to recovery and has released a really nice music video singing ‘Don’t Worry Bout Me’! Love his classic country sounding voice!!

I think this site is a blog??? Adam’s PR rep just shot something down as “rubbish”. It could be this article she was referring to. . Having said that, I would be surprised if Adam released new music this year. As much as I would like new music sooner rather than later, I don’t know if there’s time to properly promote a single before album release. Of course, anything is possible as we have no idea what’s happening behind the scenes. I do think, however, that they will try to time everything perfectly. Adam has had a busy year thus far, and we have no idea what’s coming up in the near future beyond the upcoming dates with Queen in Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Melinda Doolittle is featured in Reba’s new song, “Pray For Peace”. I’m so glad she was a part of this project!

    Nope.

He is, but Orlando Bloom’s actions weren’t exactly a sign of maturity either, especially given his age.

Here is an interview with Constantine today. I can’t believe he is 38 years old! He talks about Adam and Carrie U as well. It would be interesting to hear those two sing together….maybe when Idol has its series finale.

This looks like it was posted today so I apologize if its a duplicate.

  • Mel432

I wonder if Constantine still thinks Adam is second tier male AI singer, ha ha. He thought even Colton was better.

  • Pippygirl

“We have a lot of fans in common.”
Really Constantine? Please don’t count me as one of them.

    What’s goin’ on???

  • Corrine43180

Reading that…I didn’t realize that Brian May and the others were big Constantine fans…..hmmm

  • Karen C

I’m watching it. I think it’s very interesting because they really go into the songwriting process. Some of the artists are very good, too.

  • Karen C

I thought it was interesting what he said about having a plan for the 6 months after the show to set up for the future. I think this is why those with more experience who know who they are as artists tend to do better than those with less experience. If someone is still finding their way, it’s harder to know what they want to do right away when the opportunities exist.

Other than both coming from theater and both doing Bohemian Rhapsody, I don’t see that much connection between Adam and Constantine.

  • CB40

Thanks for chiming in, glad I’m not the only one. The episode this week with the new duo Omar was intense!

  • Marko

Legolas is more than 800 years old.

  • Mateja Praznik

I don’t think experience matters that much. At the end of the day, major labels still prefer younger contestants that are often less experienced. No experience can solve label’s disinterest.

It’s definitely preferable if contestants have at least some vague idea what kind of artists they want to be. Show’s vocal coaches, vocal producers and other staff that works with the finalists should help with further development and after the show, label’s A&R. All contestants coming off the show that get signed need good A&R and management and sadly, that’s where things usually go south.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Constantine may be referring to this:

At the personal invitation of Queen’s guitarist Brian May,[17] Maroulis later recorded a studio version of the track for Killer Queen: A Tribute to Queen, which was released on August 9, 2005 on Queen’s label, Hollywood Records.[11]

  • Larc

No wonder he didn’t connect when he took the swing at Bieber. Maybe somebody 300 or 400 years younger would have had more effective aim.

  • elliegrll

I think that labels are looking for people who can connect with an audience. That’s why they are shelling out contracts to so many youtube stars, even if some of those artists would be considered joke contestants on a show like AI.

  • standtotheright

They are looking for people who can connect for less cost of production than potential revenue. Sometimes that means signing a songwriter to cut down on royalties, sometimes that means signing the right vocalist for a song that could be a hit but needs “a fresh voice”, and yes, sometimes that means a YT star with a marketing package built in. But there are still many paths to the waterfall.

  • Karen C

I agree that the artists need more A&R after they are on the show. But I think the younger, more inexperienced singers don’t make it that far. The ones that have the experience to know who they are as artists while they are on the show tend to make it further than those that don’t. Even with the staff working with the contestants, it isn’t always enough in that short amount of time to really help the contestants. I also think in order to win or do well, they have to show some originality, and the experienced contestants have less of a problem with that, and that’s why they come out ahead.

I also think the ones that at least on Idol, the younger contestants that did do well both on the show and afterwards had a lot of experience, or at least more than the ones that have been on lately.

Record labels sign younger stars, but they give them A&R and development before they release music to the public. I’ve read that this is for years sometimes. I think this makes up for the lack of experience of the younger contestants.

  • https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

Who are the youngest contestants who have done the best? Jordin is one that pops into my head. But wasn’t her dad a professional football player? So did that help? Then you have David A. But he had started on Star Search as a kid so he did have a lot of experience. He took that time off for his Mission, so it’s hard to judge is post Idol success. It’s interesting to look at. The most successful contestants (post Idol) were over 18? Over 20? When they were on the show?

  • Karen C

I mean Jordin, and especially David A, Allison Iraheta and Scotty too. They had enough experience to know who they were as artists, and had performance skills, and I think that’s why they did better.

  • Kariann Hart

Love those eyelashes and curly hair! Yummy.

  • girlygirl

Scotty, Jordin and Archie are the most successful teenagers to come off Idol

  • girlygirl

most YT artists are unable to translate that success when they actually have to perform live in front of an audience. I can only think of maybe a dozen artists who have made the transition from YT star to actual successful recording/touring artist.. If you look at YT artists, they generally get far more hits on their cover songs than they do on their original stuff. So I would argue about how well they actually connect to an audience. Certainly to a live audience.

  • Kariann Hart

Like I told the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, word his Induction as Nile Rodgers & Chic. After 7 nominations, this might get him in. He is is so talented and actively working as a producer. He deserves to be in the RRHOF. Working with Adam Lambert means something now.

  • girlygirl

Very few labels actually sign artists and then take years to develop them before releasing music. That’s pretty much a thing of the past, although Syco and Big Machine has done it with a couple of the younger reality show contestants they signed (to mised results once they actually release music from them).

  • Karen C

I know this was done with Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, and some others, not sure if this is still being done. But there would still be some development before releasing anything.

  • http://mjsbigblog.staging.wpengine.com/ mjsbigblog

I sat down and figured out. Constantine is the oldest of all the Idol finalists (That is, contestants who survived the middle rounds to make the Top 10-13)

  • https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

Its odd thinking that one of the idols is pushing 40. He’s almost in the main AI viewing demographic! I would have to say he is one of the more successful idols. I think the older ones do have more success because they are realistic about what AI can do for them, Let’s look at the post 30 year old idols Taylor Hicks has a Vegas show and owns a restaurant. Adam is touring with Queen and Bo Bice is touring with another band…can’t remember who. Clay is running for office. Justin is still on TV? Anyone know? How old is ACE? He is having a successful musical theater career. Of course Kelly, Carrie and Fantasia are doing well. Then there is Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson

One of my favorite songs from The Script’s 2nd album, Science & Faith. Kris strips it way down from the original. Nicely done Kris!
