Resuscitating ‘Idol,’ and idols – Diva supreme Mariah Carey assumed the daunting task this week of trying to right TV’s biggest cruise ship, the SS American Idol, which has been taking on so much water of late that its lifeboats are swinging loose in their cradles. Just what did Fox get for $18 million? That’s a matter of speculation. “Mariah is famous primarily for her work in recording studios. Nobody really knows what to expect from her on live TV,” says Rolling Stone columnist Rob Sheffield via e-mail. “She doesn’t have a lot of experience talking off the top of her head in public, to say the least.” – Read more at Philly.com

During the interview, he discussed his “Idol” experience, desire to be a working musician and his upcoming first album: AJC: How far along are you on the album? Kelly Clarkson talks ‘American Idol,’ ‘Duets,’ ‘Stronger’ – Ten years after taking the crown as America’s first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson returned to the world of reality singing competitions in May with the launch of “Duets,” which features Clarkson, Robin Thicke, John Legend and Jennifer Nettles as mentors who also perform duets with the contestants. We caught up with Clarkson, who’s on her way to Phoenix for a co-headlining concert with the Fray, to talk about “Idol,” “Duets” (which declared its first winner in late July) and “Stronger,” the singer’s fifth album since winning “American Idol.” – Read more at AZCentral

‘American Idol’ singer: This one goes out to Brandon – “I feel like it was crazy being out there in Los Angeles, and so far from anyone I knew. It was really nice to feel the support from here, particularly Brandon. I got an enormous amount of email and Facebook and Twitter responses just supporting me 100 percent. While I’m back in town, it’s the least I can do to thank them.” Fraker has been on a European tour with a group he was with on the show — the eight members of Groove Sauce. Earlier this summer, the tour traveled to England, the Netherlands and Italy. Group members are taking a week off before heading on the final leg to Japan, Korea and Guam. The tour finishes next month, and then Fraker will go to Los Angeles to make an album. – Read more at AZCentral

Love Chris Colfer’s wacky interview… Don’t know why he is like that… Still, when I read “Rolling Stones”, I still cannot really forgive them having interviewed several members of the Glee cast and asking them inappropriate questions … (15 April 2010  http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/45559235.html ).  They were the kindest to Chris Colfer who they did not intend to interview in the first place, but in the end of the article they threw a stone at him as well.  I  wonder whether Chris Colfer still had that terrible Rolling Stone interview in mind. I have…

Kelly’s playing the Hollywood Bowl tonight and there’s rumblings that there might be some special guests again like her last LA show back in April.  For sure she’s having Jason, her Duets guy, join her on one song.

Jason Farol ?@JasonDuetsWILL BE SINGING WITH @kelly_clarkson TOMORROW NIGHT AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL FOR HER CONCERT WITH @thefray AND CAROLINA LIAR! CANT WAIT! :]

CCC (Clarkson Concert Cover) from Saturday in Murphys, CA… Wide Open Spaces by The Dixie Chicks.  The guy on banjo is her music director’s son who just started playing that instrument a few weeks ago.  She talks about it at the end of the video.

AOL is reporting that Nick Jonas and Pharrell are in talks to join AI.

They are using US Weekly as their source, so it’s probably just part of an old rumor.

It’s so great that “Free” is being used as a goodbye song on SYTYCD! That’s excellent promo for her current single. :D

Would be even cooler if she wrote the song, but it’s honestly the only song off of her album that fits.

I’d love it if a Haley and/or Kris original song ended up being featured in one of the dances. Several of Kris’ songs(Both Idol covers and his originals.)have appeared on SYTYCD. I think it’s about time that one of his originals were used for a dance.
