Asheville musician Caleb Johnson to perform in Greenville with Idol tour – The American Idol Live 2014 tour won’t play in the winner’s hometown but Greenville, S.C., is close enough for Caleb Johnson to enjoy some things he’s missed. “It kind of stinks we aren’t going to Asheville, but being 45 minutes away is OK,” Johnson said. The album was finished in three weeks with Johnson co-writing the songs. “We just put our noses to the ground and busted our butts. We really just plowed through,” he said of his studio time. “That’s one of the great things about ‘Idol’: It prepared me to work under large amounts of stress and time constraints. Really, it was just a walk in the park. It went really smoothly.” – Read more at Goupstate.com

‘American Idol’ Alum Matt Giraud Still In The Spotlight Five Years Later – “I wasn’t writing much, I wasn’t doing anything. It was almost like I was retired when I wasn’t playing. I was like ‘Well, I’m doing okay, my hometown loves me, I can play here.’ But I wasn’t having these dreams of really getting out and playing everywhere,” he admits. So I got a little bit lazy and – I don’t know, I just kind of had to change. I started going to Nashville, started writing songs, making friends, started going down there every few months. I’d come home – I’d miss home, but I finally decided to give this a shot.” Since relocating to Nashville, Giraud has been splitting his time working on new music and performing in Michigan and Tennessee. Last year he released a new EP, “Live at River City,” and will perform in Kalamazoo at the end of the month at Warner Vineyards. He’s come a long way from his early days of singing in the church choir and mapping out his future through Disney movies – but, like the characters, he knows the power that can come from taking a chance and putting his talent to work. – Read more at WMUK.org

‘Voice’ Duo The Swon Brothers Talk Shelton, Sexiness – Voice alums the Swon Brothers are preparing to release their full-length major-label debut, and their single “Later On” is already a bona fide country hit. (It racked up the most one-week adds of any debut single in Country Aircheck history when it was released this past March.) But despite hitting the big-time, the fun-loving Okies from Muskogee haven’t changed one bit since they charmed their way into America’s hearts, and the grand finale, on The Voice Season 4. They’re as hilarious as ever, as their new interview for Yahoo Music’s Reality Rocks proves. – Check out the Videos at Reality Rocks

Maroon 5 Discuss Sia-Penned Gwen Stefani Duet & ‘Experimenting With Electronic Elements’ on ‘V’ – Maroon 5’s upcoming new album “V” represents a continuum from 2012’s platinum “Overexposed,” according to guitarist James Valentine. “We didn’t really stop recording after we finished ‘Overexposed,'” Valentine tells Billboard. “On ‘Overexposed’ we started working with outside producers and writers, and we just kind of kept the process going after we finished with that record because we built great relationships with these guys. Things are just a little bit more relaxed now, because we have Adam [Levine] doing [‘The Voice’] and the touring thing is a little different for us. So the writing and recording just keeps going, and [‘Maps’] seems as much like the fifth single off of ‘Overexposed’ as it does the first single from [‘V’].” – Read more at Billboard.com

‘The Voice’: Blake Shelton Looking Forward To ‘Mopping The Floor’ With Other Coaches – Access Hollywood’s Liz Hernandez sat down with the country superstar (and his Season 7 team advisers, Grammy Award-winning group Little Big Town), where Blake opened up what he’s most excited for when the new season kicks off on September 22. “I mean, lets not beat around the bush. I am looking forward to mopping the floor with the other three coaches’ asses,” he told Liz. “I do want to win real damn bad,” he said. “I thought there after season 4 – I had won three seasons in a row – we thought that I had them all from there on out. – Read more at Access Hollywood

‘Big Brother 16’: Devin Shepherd on Eviction, Bomb Squad Implosion and Dumb Moves – Looking back, should you have had a different strategy? My strategy heading into the game was I wanted to play as honest as possible and I said that to some people. I wanted to potentially be more honest and loyal more so than anybody who played the game. And I knew that by doing that I wouldn’t be in the game for very long so when I walked through the front door, that hit me. My favorite players were Dan, Boogie and Rachel and they didn’t get to the winners’ circle by always being as honest as possible. It hit me that I might have to do some things in the house I’m not proud of, but at the end of the day I would have played hard and gone out Week 3 like I did than having floated and then gone out Week 3 and not have an opportunity to have played. All in all, I was very happy with the way I played. I played hard and I have no regrets with that. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Glee’s Kevin McHale: ‘Chris Colfer hacking was actually super serious’ – Kevin McHale has revealed that the recent Glee hackings were actually very “serious”. Earlier this month, Chris Colfer’s Twitter account was hacked and a message was posted suggesting that he had been fired from the show, while the following day Lea Michele’s account was hijacked to post a tweet claiming that she was pregnant. However, McHale – who confirmed that he has changed his password since the hackings – admitted that the invasions were more worrying than they seemed. “I talked to Chris, and it was this super-serious thing where it wasn’t just his Twitter they hacked,” he said. “It was everything. I feel like on the surface it seemed like, ‘Oh, someone hacked his Twitter’, but it got quite serious and he had to change everything. – Read more at Digital Spy
