I still don’t understand how a 17 year old isn’t interested in dating. Isn’t that what 17 year olds do? Go out on dates? Or have times changed that much since I was 17, 8 years ago?

And snuffles, IMO, fantasizing about your idol falls into the “kind of creepy” category. I doubt it will affect fandoms. Most people I know like artists for their music, not if they are available or not.

Creeps me out as well. The relationship status of a musical artist I like really doesn’t concern me one way or the other. Heck, most of the musicians I really like have been married to a super model at some point.

I think if your fandom is comprised of too many girls who secretly fantasize about being your girlfriend, you’ll definitely go the way of the boy bands. As in, super hot one minute – then can’t get arrested the next. I would venture that it’s not so much that he’s not interested in dating, as that he’s not interested in discussing it publicly. Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue if he announced that he was ready for a girlfriend? And I do believe that he’d rather invest his energy in the tour and his CD than in trying to coordinate dates between cities. JMO.

About fantisizing about idols — I’m thinking that MJ’s blog tends to skew a little older than a typical “fan” site. Not that I want to talk about the AI boards, or any of the others fan sites around — but thankfully (to me) this blog isn’t all about that fangirlie squee’ing, seriously weird fan fiction, or planning out somehow meeting an idol at the buses and marrying him/her and living happily ever after. If you’re 14, that’s pretty exciting stuff. If you’re 40ish and already been married forever, that’s seriously creepie/stalkeresque thinking.

There’s a place for all types of boards/blogs — and posters tend to land where they fit in the best. And that’s a good thing.

I just started watching AI season 6. Did Ruben and Mandisa date? I saw her in concert 2 months ago and she was fabulous. I interviewed him last November; what a sweetie. Now you have me wondering!

Mandisa is incredible!!! She left way too early Season 5 IMO. Supposedly her gay comment hurt her- who knows? I always thought she was one of the most talented Season 5 contestants and was beautiful as well. Unfortunately America likes their idols skinny.

I just saw that Brooke White is going to be on Jay Leno tonight. I might be wrong but I think it’s a new show. I like Brooke so I’m going to try to watch.

Idolbeat, Mandisa had a crush on Ruben and sang a song dedicated to him during some stops on the tour. I don’t think they ever dated, but I did hear he called her several times, so who knows. I thought they would make beautiful, musical babies, and that they had plenty in common as well. Music, their faith, etc. Anyway that ship sailed…. congrats again Ruben.

Dont even try to tell me I was the only one, that when I pulled up my AOL page today and saw the headline “AI winner gets marriage license” I clicked and held my breath (knowing it wasnt REALLY going to be him) to make sure it was not my Cookie. Hi, I’ve been coming here to catch up on all kinds of DC news for a while now, but I’m new to the commenting. I’ve always read the comments though because they are full of extra info. like the “young hollywood” video.

While I was watching this particular vid, I realized why I personally like David Cook more than Michael Johns. MJ made the comment about (tongue in cheek) about how he’s so serious and has so much depth and it struck me how much emotional depth DC brings to the stage when he performs! That’s also why cooktard76, in response to your question regarding wedding news it didn’t even enter my mind that it was DC getting married, I don’t think he would make that level of commitment so suddenly.

BTW, I liked your Randy haiku, esp. the 2007 at the end. LOL.

Don’t get me wrong MJ is hilarious and I laughed all through the dan band vid.
