Inside Queen’s Huge Summer Tour With Adam Lambert – Filling Freddie Mercury’s shoes is an enormous task, but Lambert feels up to the challenge. “It’s not an easy feat,” he says. “I think a lot of the apprehension has faded because we’ve done this a number of times in the past couple of years. That’s not to suggest I’m getting cocky at all, because I will never compare to Freddie Mercury. He’s one in a million. At this point, I know how to strike a balance between honoring the way these songs were originally meant to be sung and my own instincts, my own choices.” Meanwhile, Lambert has been using his downtime to continue work on his next solo album. “I’m not finished with that,” he says. “I’ve done a lot of work and there’s some amazing music. We’d probably be able to put something out now, but I’m a perfectionist and I have to make sure that I love every song 100 percent and that they’re perfect for me. I maybe want to find even more material. I’m not going to rush a project like this.” – Read more at Rolling Stone

Blake Shelton: Missing the Hell Out of Shakira and Usher – “Gosh dang it, man. I’m gonna miss the hell out of Usher and Shakira,” Shelton told a handful of reporters in Nashville recently. “I know Shakira’s not coming back. She’s a great person and a great lifelong friend I made there. Usher, too.” Shelton admits he really doesn’t know what this season holds because he really doesn’t know the new judges — singer-songwriters Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams — at all. “As far as Gwen and Pharrell — I always want to call him ‘For Real’ — I’ve met them, but I can honestly say that outside of a handshake and a ‘What’s up,’ I don’t know these people that well,” Shelton said. – The Voice 7 had a press day at auditions yesterday, so Blake has certainly gotten to know his new coach-mates, of which we’ll here more soon, I’m sure. – Read more at CMT.

Kellie Pickler: 11 People Who Changed My Life – Kellie Pickler may have entered the public consciousness by competing on American Idol, but the North Carolina native’s love of country music, and her path to a career in the genre, was established well before that. “It’s been so long ago, I feel like an antique Idol now,” Pickler says with a shrieking laugh. “I’m a dusty Idol!” As the singer prepares to re-release her latest album, The Woman I Am, on vinyl, she opens up about the personalities — from country legends to her own family — who made her that titular woman. – Read more at Rolling Stone

Fantasia Barrino Comments on AFTER MIDNIGHT Closing: ‘It Makes Me Sad’ – “It makes me sad,” began the American Idol champ. “Gladys Knight was supposed to go on after Patti Labelle [the show’s current guest star]. That was the first Broadway show that I started with. Those young people I worked with became like family to me. I saw how hard they worked; I know how much they love and respect jazz music. They’re talented and will do great things.” She continues, “But I’m also sad because I felt it was a much-needed play for people to know that jazz still lives. The music is great. So hopefully someone else will come back out with something like that so young people will know where music really started.” – Read more at Broadway World
