Clay Aiken and Tony Winner Beth Leavel Star in North Carolina Theatre’s Drowsy Chaperone, Beginning May 7 – “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken, who was seen on Broadway in Monty Python’s Spamalot, plays Man in Chair in North Carolina Theatre’s production of the award-winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone, which runs May 7-12 in the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts (formerly Progress Energy Center). – Read more at Playbill

Beverly’s Angie Miller visits with Centerville students during her trip home – Beverly, Mass. — Angie Miller, former Centerville student and current finalist on the hit reality competition show “American Idol” returned home on Saturday and made her former elementary school her first stop. Miller’s first grade teacher Fran Ridge produced a class photo from the 2000-2001 school year at Centerville Elementary School, when Miller was her student. Miller was shown in the upper-left corner of the photograph, where a poster in the background reading “Success!” was hanging up directly next to her. For Ridge, who remembers her former student clearly, the irony was far less than a coincidence. Read more at Wicked Local

Kellie Pickler Discusses Len Goodman’s Dancing Criticism

‘DWTS’ judge draws Twitter outrage after giving Kellie Pickler low score in week 8 – Pickler and Hough, along with third dancer Tristan McManus, turned out a dramatic interpretation of the Paso Doble. Their powerful, near-flawless moves were punctuated by perfectly timed flashes of lightning and mirrors breaking. The routine was impressive enough for judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli to award Pickler and her partners a perfect score of 10, but cranky judge Len Goodman thought that the dance was too gimmicky for his taste. “I was expecting more than flashing lights and crashing music,” Goodman scowled. “It was a hodgepodge of moves just out there to titillate the taste buds.” But instead of deducting a mere point or two from his score, the persnickety judge awarded the trio a spiteful 7. News that ABC’s delicious (but normally not deadly) drama series Nashville (starring Connie Britton and Hayden Panetierre) will be doing a bit of housecleaning among the cast before the first season closes out—with a shocking storyline viewers wouldn’t expect. According to insiders, there will be two character deaths in Nashville’s gripping final episode, slated for May 22. (Nashville airs Wednesday nights.)
