Blake was a good example of that last season since he was never expected to be in the top 5 let alone the top 2. It was supposed to be all girls. So far this season the only TCO is David A although the judges like various others on a given night. Him they like every time, even his mediocre performance last week.

Who isn't a plant by someones definition. Michael, Carly, David A, David H, Kristy, Syesha. Then there's TCO, first it was Carly, then Michael, David A. To me that sorta means that you must perform in order to earn that. I guess ideally everyone should begin on an even playing field, but I pretty much think that this season everyone has. Jason Castro is proof that even cannon fodder can rise above it's station.

I haven't read every one of these articles and don't know who's supposed to be a plant. I'm not sure I believe there is one because from what I've seen in the auditions, everyone here did very well and deserved to be in the top 24. Since then there has been some judge fawning but am not so sure it's affecting the viewers. I'm don't think this is any different from previous seasons since the judges always rave about someone early on and may or may not change to someone else later. Last season it was Melinda early and Jordin near the end although they still liked Melinda. Sometimes the reverse backfires especially if Simon is seen to be overly critical about someone they clearly want gone.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Michael get the pimp spot this week.Their plant is wilting and I think people are going to see through their praise. I sort of want him to continue to be mediocre because I think they will toss David C under the bus and run over him a few times if Michael ever gets his groove back. Apparently I enjoy a great voice (and a combover!) more than the "hot" Michael these days. :)

Well, certainly Michael can have a comeback. He's one of the plants. I actually would bet money on it.

I guess I resent him b/c of false praise.

I just did a search on Michael Lee Johns and The Rising.

The website I referred to, posted by The Rising, is gone.

In it's place are websites that include both Michael Lee Johns and The Rising.

So yes, apparently there has been an agreement but it doesn't dismiss the fact that, at one time, Michael swiped the song.

Actually, I have read something out there that talks a little bit about Michael's side of the story. No big reveal or anything, just him saying that yeah, he took the song(s). Funny how the actual songwriter isn't the one that made a big fuss about it. It was another band member. The article/interview/whatever it was that I read said that all the songwriter wanted was to be credited, and that he'd spoken to Michael about that and Michael said that the songwriter would be. I'll have to see if I can find it, but I know I read it awhile ago.

And, honestly, I think Michael is doing kind of what Brandon Rogers did - picking songs to sing that he loves, just because he loves them, rather than picking songs that show off his voice. Because he does seem have a good range and a pretty powerful voice, he just needs to pick songs that showcase that. He needs a breakout performance like a "Hello" or "Imagine" and he's right back up there as a front-runner, IMO.

He may "strut" around on stage or whatever, but pretty much any performer does that - even when they're not having a great performance. If the artist realizes in the middle of the song that it's not gonna be great, what are they supposed to do, just stop putting their all into the performance and just give up and stand there?

After reading these articles, I feel sorry for Kristy Lee. I knew she was sick but it seems she has had a very rough time of it. Also, did anyone catch that David A had strep? Must have been why he was weezing Thursday night so much. An interview said his voice was almost gone in one of the articles. I hope this is the last of the illnesses.

Well, song stealer or not, MJ really needs to step up to the plate. Maybe he's holding back, but so far he's just a cute guy with an accent and plenty of attitude.

True JoJosie but Michael has had plenty of time to respond - this came out months ago. He apparently has chosen not to share his side of that story.

We have to remember on the Michael Johns vs. his previous band the only side we've heard is theirs. I like to hear both sides of the story it might shed some light on what really happened. It maybe all true or it might be mostly hard feelings or a combination of both. Michael I think will be around for a while and will get some type of record deal and actually record a record this time. He's got talent, looks and that great Aussie accent.

Oh, I disagree C-Sally -- there are plenty of excellent singers and musicians out there that don't know squat about musical history.

They may have their favs, the one's they connect with but singing is a talent. You don't have to have a college degree. Imvho.
