Is America ready for a gay ‘Idol’?

…No finalist has ever been portrayed as openly gay during the past six seasons of “American Idol.” With more details about contestants’ personal lives being exposed Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ both on the show and unofficially online Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ that could change, and soon.

Or will it be “Idol” business as usual?

“It feels like we’re closer now than ever to having an openly gay contestant on the show,” says Jim Verraros, who came out after his run as a finalist on the first season of “Idol…”

Re: Daughtry/Live “I Walk the Line” and David C/Incubus “Hello”

There is a big, BIG difference in what the judges said about the particular arrangements.

They praised Daughtry for being “original” blah, blah, blahityblah.

The most they said to David last night was “great arrangement” and “I like people who take risks”. Nothing about being original.

And the same thing could be said about all the fawning over David Archuleta’s ripoff of Eva Cassidy last week.

“4) Ramiele: Against All Odds – Phil Collins”

Poor Ramiele. Someone gets stuck with this stinker almost every season, but has any Idol been able to sing it well? Hope Ramiele does well enough to make Top 12, I really like her voice.

Lots of Whitney love this week. Does nobody listen to the judges? Oh, wait, I wouldn’t either (but I might on this topic) BTW, if the judges don’t think that you should sing Celine or Whitney, why are those two all over the “song short list”?
