Hopefully, next week, during his BIRTHDAY (and why do I know this?!) he will sing a brilliant song.

You think THAT'S bad! I sent him a birthday card!

How cool is that to sing on live television in front of 30 million people for your birthday! :thumbup_tb:

Has anyone been checking the iTune downloads? Last week's songs are not faring as well as the first week of Beatles songs.

Kat -- I too love, love, love Neil Diamond. Cannot wait for Neil Diamond week. Hopefully I'll still be thanking Nigel afterward...

Prime -- as usual we are on the same wavelength. I would love an all male top 3 that did not include Archuletta. And for those that think that Huhchuletta is unbeatable, I beg to differ. He has shown that anything outside of a ballad is difficult for him. The audience will give him one bad performance, but I think another bad performance could make him vulnerable. Plus, I still worry about his health.

Cherokee -- thank you for the article on Phil. Is it wrong that my eyes tear up a little every time I read about good stuff happening for Phil? Squee!!!

This contest is going to get really, really interesting right around top 6.

They're both really good looking but I prefer the more manly look of Michael, Kari. He's great looking and hot but can be goofy which is a great combination. Ace is more boy band cute to me and that's probably because of his cheeziness when singing like pointing to his scar. :laugh_tb:

I think I am reading the same book and the same page. Jason is #1 on my list, but I believe he will show us more talent then we've seen. Kat, I think I would like something with a little more bounce, uptempo like à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m a Believer.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Yes, bean, 'Sweet Caroline' would be perfect for Michael. I have this debate in my mind as to which guy is more handsome, him or Ace Young?

So happy to hear the mentors are arriving! Neil and Dolly are absolute favorites of mine!

I so agree, Kat. Besides "Hell Yeah" I am drawn to "Evermore". Raw, stripped and not a sequin in sight.

May I also say, I'm kinda surprised to find someone of your generation appreciating this side of Neil. It warms my heart.

The album cover was just revealed for Clayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s upcoming Cd

Oh wow! Looks like he still has that Spamalot look. That's a pretty good picture though; I like it better than the cover of ATDW. Thanks, undecided!

Neil Diamondà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s early songs were great. Later on, not so much.

Agreed with the exception of his last album. He worked with Rick Rubin on "12 Songs" and it's friggin' awesome.

Neil Diamondà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s early songs were great. Later on, not so much.

And Dolly is the opposite. Her last few albums have been brilliant. Much better than that 9 to 5/Islands In the Stream crap. Love the bluegrass.

Hopefully, next week, during his BIRTHDAY (and why do I know this?!) he will sing a brilliant song.

I wonder if they will mention it's his 21st when he sings a song from the year of his birth? LOL.

That's my dream top 3 too, Primeminister. My next favorite would be Carly as far as voice.

I could see Michael doing a great job with Sweet Caroline.

primeminister Mar 21st, 2008 at 7:20 pm

    Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d love an all guy top three (and I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t mean lilà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ archie).

Cook, Castro, and Johns would be my ideal Top 3 (although Archuleta will probably crack this group even if he sucks from here on out.)

I'm 100% in agreeance, although I think young Archie will suffer from peaking too soon.

The album cover was just revealed for Clay's upcoming Cd

Maybe someone will sing à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Love on the Rocksà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ for you.

*swoon*

I think one of the contestants needs to tackle Neil's "Men Are So Easy." Maybe Michael Johns or Brooke White. (If Syesha chooses it and changes the title to "Girls Are So Easy," I'll kill myself.)

Other suggestions:

David Archuleta: "Solitary Man"
Jason Castro: "Song Song Blue"
David Cook: "I Am...I Said" (get him out of the rock box but keep the gruffness in his voice)
Syesha Mercado: "Hello Again"
Kristy Lee Cook: Maybe "I'm a Believer," but she'll probably do "America" in an act of desperation
Ramiele Malubay: "I Got the Feelin' (Oh No No)"
Carly Smithson: "Hell Yeah"
Brooke White: "Play Me"
Chikezie: "Delirious Love"

If Amanda was still there, I would have suggested "Thank the Lord For the Nighttime."
