Crystal Bowersox to sing national anthem at Sunday’s Walleye game – Crystal Bowersox will sing the national anthem prior to Sunday’s Toledo Walleye game at the Huntington Center. The Walleye announced today that Bowersox will perform Sunday as part of the team’s “Pink In The Rink” promotion, which raises money and awareness for breast cancer. The promotion spans two games – the Walleye host Evansville at 7:05 p.m. Saturday and Trenton at 5:05 p.m. Sunday. Bowersox, an Elliston, Ohio, native, will perform Sunday night at the SeaGate Convention Centre with Monte Mar in a concert that benefits Toledo School for the Arts. – Read more at Toledo Blade

Carrie Underwood, ‘Sound of Music’ Role to Honor Broadway Over Big Screen – Carrie Underwood is slated to portray Maria von Trapp in a live NBC broadcast of “The Sound of Music” this coming holiday season. This is a new venture for the singer, who has stayed mostly with music since winning Season 4 of “American Idol.” Her only acting credentials so far are her small role in the movie “Soul Surfer,” along with the various characters she has played in her many music videos. “The whole experience will be amazing,” Carrie says, her voice exuding excitement. “I love the movie, and I’ve always loved musicals.
