OFFSTAGE: Maxim Names Its Hottest Women of Country

Somehow, the people at Maxim magazine were able to narrow down all the gorgeous women in country music to the hottest 13. They left out quite a few, in my opinion, but I guess you have to stop somewhere. So there’s no Dolly Parton, no Lee Ann Womack, no LeAnn Rimes, no Gretchen Wilson, no Faith Hill, no Kimberly Perry, no Martina McBride. But it’s time for some other beauties to shine, so this list shines the light on the obvious ones like Gwyneth Paltrow, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Sara Evans, Kellie Pickler, Julianne Hough and Miranda Lambert. Then some not-so-obvious picks like Jessie James, Julie Roberts, Sunny Sweeney, Shania Twain and Gloriana’s Cheyenne Kimball.

Pop star Clay Aiken sometimes wonders whether he was born in the wrong era, since he has such an affinity for oldies music from his parents’ time, in the ’50s and ’60s.

With two musician parents, music was always playing around the North Carolina home where Aiken grew up. Some of the old favorites he heard all the time — like “Suspicious Minds, ” “It’s Only Make Believe, ” “Moon River” and “Crying” — ended up as cuts on his fifth studio album, “Tried and True, ” his first with Decca Records. Aiken, who is bringing his “Tried and True” tour to Munhall on Friday, says he feels right at home on this album, which was almost effortless.

Gwyneth Paltrow Will Tango To Prince’s ‘Kiss’ On ‘Glee’

And it certainly seems as though the folks at “Glee” don’t plan to squander Paltrow’s newest knack for bringing the funk. “Gwyneth and I just did ‘Kiss’ by Prince, ” Morrison revealed.

Perhaps upping the ante from their memorable, albeit soaked, “Singin’ in the Rain”/ “Umbrella” mash-up, Morrison also divulged that he and Paltrow are doing Prince’s 1986 classic “as a tango.” Morrison could only find one way to describe the upcoming number: “It’s pretty awesome.”
