pj, I couldn't have said it better, but I will add that Kid Rock was probably stoned when he made the remark. It also explains his luke warm applause from the audience for his performance at the Grammy's. He needs to get himself to a rehab center.

Jennifer was awesome on the Grammy Awards.

As for Kid Rockà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s comments about Jennifer: Sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s getting enough attention (good) as it is, he must be really jealous.

I doubt he's jealous. More like an untalented, misogynist a$$hole. ;-) He's probably too solipsist to be jealous. *rollseyes*

Looks like AOL has pulled the recent videos for all Sony artists (within the last year or so). Not sure if it's temporary, but it affects all the Sony-signed idols--DC, DA, Carrie, Kelly, Jordin, Daughtry, etc. AOL Sessions are still up, just no music videos. Weird.

There are rumors of Archuleta concerts in the works for Utah near the end of March and then the Philippines during the first two weeks of April.

Wow!! Concerts for Archie in Utah and the Philippines! This is the first time Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m hearing about it.

The Philippines show(s) havenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t been confirmed, as Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m aware, but ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s an obvious place for him to go. I think he has 3 songs charting high on radio thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬'Crush, ALTNOY and TMH. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s loved there.

Oy! Yay (if true)! (I just hope Archie does not do a Cookie...)

I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe that is the same thing. Alicia Keys/Chris Brown have already established themselves. Their audiences will not question the fact that they are going on Sesame Street or Disney. They already have street credibility. I just think that teens are big on à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“the coolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ factor. If an artist has not already been established as à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“coolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ , then they run the risk of being à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“uncoolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ (in a majority of teens eyes) if they act or cater to a kids/younger audience.

Chris Brown went on Disney for his first album--he was far from established at the time. This was at the beginning of his career.

Besides, if David's teen fans were the type to really care about the media force-fed definition of "cool" and "uncool" do you really think they would be fans of David? He's not the media's definition of what is "cool." He's David--he's himself and nothing else. What makes him cool is that he's not trying to be cool. Teens who get that and like his music are fans of his, regardless of whether he sings a kids' song or appears on Nickelodeon (more of those teens exist than I think people believe). Teens who don't get that and refuse to listen to his music because he's not "cool" won't be swayed by anything other than David not being David.

Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s like when Alecia Keys goes on Sesame Street and sings that sharing is caring, or whatever. Doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t mean her management or label is suddenly focusing on the 5-year-old market.

And Billboard (IMO, the most respectable music publication) has always taken him very seriously. ALTNOY was recently given a starred à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“critics choiceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ review in the magazine.

That's all well and good, but they are not the ones buying the songs, buying the album and listening to the song on the radio.

I am still perplexed about how they are marketing David. I understand this song is for charity, so I am not disputing that, it is a good thing. On one hand, however, with his album, they seemed to try to give him an edgier feel (more R&B) and look. Like to target the 15-20ish age group. Then on the other hand, they seem to go to the audience of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“kidsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ like with iCarly and BAB. I understand it is good to target different audiences, but they seem to conflict. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Cool teenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ vs. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Hannah Montanaishà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . It seems to me that if the teens see that he is geared more to the kids market, then they will not respond to him. I just think they should have gone one way or the other. JMO.

The BAB song has nothing to do with marketing. The founder of BAB saw David on the Today Show, loved his voice, thought he was really nice and asked if he would sing the song. He said yes because he's David. It's for charity. It has nothing to do with his career or how Jive or Azoff are marketing him. It's like when Alecia Keys goes on Sesame Street and sings that sharing is caring, or whatever. Doesn't mean her management or label is suddenly focusing on the 5-year-old market.

I don't see anything conflicting about the way he's being marketed. Jive/Azoff can straddle the lines between adult, teen and tween if they do things right, and so far in that area they've been doing just fine. Crush is top 10 on AC and very recently top 10 on Disney at the same time. He sang the National Anthem at the Pro Bowl which isn't a tween event. He did iCarly, yeah, but pre-scandal Chris Brown did Disney when he released his first album. And Billboard (IMO, the most respectable music publication) has always taken him very seriously. ALTNOY was recently given a starred "critics choice" review in the magazine. And he gets a decent amount of airplay on college and high school radio stations (both singles). ALTNOY is already top 40 on AC.

I am still perplexed about how they are marketing David. I understand this song is for charity, so I am not disputing that, it is a good thing. On one hand, however, with his album, they seemed to try to give him an edgier feel (more R&B) and look. Like to target the 15-20ish age group. Then on the other hand, they seem to go to the audience of “kids” like with iCarly and BAB. I understand it is good to target different audiences, but they seem to conflict. “Cool teen” vs. “Hannah Montanaish”. It seems to me that if the teens see that he is geared more to the kids market, then they will not respond to him. I just think they should have gone one way or the other. JMO.
