Oh boy! Fan wars!

For those of you hoping this will stop when the new season starts up, you might as well stop hoping. Invested fans will never give it up.

They are the ones who have really embraced all things Idols and they have helped themselves along on the shoulders of the show and its contestants.

Er, it goes BOTH ways. We publicize that silly little show and it's contestants.

And then, this year, a monkey wrench was thrown into the mix and the main stream media has picked up on an Idol and has written about him constantly. And not just little web sites, but major news and entertainment sites that only occasionally mention the idols. This has to be frustrating for the Idol bloggers' ¦.

Uhm. The mainstream media has always been crazy about all things Idol. Nothing new there. Adam has received more attention than most contestants in the past, but it's not like the mainstream media hadn't been paying attention to Idol...and now suddenly they are.

they no longer get all the hits.

Oh, we get plenty of hits. Don't worry about that! As the tide rises, we all benefit. This notion that bloggers are resentful of mainstream media because they are stealing our hits is....nonsense.

So they resort to being negative which means people will respond to their lazy articles and they can go to their host site and say that they are still relative and that their product is still being read and commented on. I call it back door journalism' ¦.get hits by trashing someone just to stay relative!

Wow. That's quite a theory you have there Tess. But it's a pile of conjecture not grounded in facts.

But that guy doesn't seem to be interested in Kris. He hasn't even give any opinion about Kris's music or his performances during the last six months since 'Idol' ended. He just seem to be disappointed in Adam just because he appeared on some lame TV shows to promote his single.

Replying a little late to this but I agree, fluffybunny. The critic didn't become a Kris fan just because he took a dislike to Adam. Saying Kris was the rightful winner in that context isn't any endorsement of Kris. But the original poster was just trying to give an example to dispute the notion some writers have that "everyone" thinks Adam should have won. So I agreed that other opinions can be introduced to counter that notion.

I'm happy with the Pop position for WWFM, but I hope after the chart freeze that HAC gets off their butts and starts adding it/spinning it more - it's doing so well on Pop, I hope that momentum is picked up by HAC. Imo WWFM fits just as well on that chart as Pop.

I'm still in the "numbers- phobia" state, so I'm sure glad so many others understand it all and can give articulate explainations :-)

Saga-
the numbers you just posted- do they mean Adam went down one spot on the HAC stations?

I think he's been down one spot for a week now. Adam doesn't have many adds in HAC yet so there is not much to gain momentum by. He is doing a lot better on pop. His momentum slowed down a bit over the christmas days as Z100 played 2009 charts but since yday Z100 seems to have put WWFM in even higher rotation than before christmas, playing it every 2-2.5 hours. WWFM also got 2 (I think) spins on OHP last night. So it's looking good I think.

Looking at the pop chart I don't really see any threat coming from behind and I don't think he will move up the charts yet. Just ahead of WWFM is Timbaland and BEP and they are both gaining spins faster than WWFM. A little further ahead we have Daughtry and Nickelback gaining spins at slower rate. Then there is one track dropping down called Heaven Can Wait. If HCW drops a lot he might pass it. Or if he gains spins a lot faster than Daughtry and Nickelback he might pass them but theere is quite a large jump in spins before he reaches their level.

There is also movement around top20 that is interesting. Rihanna is moving up fast and hopefully she'll surpass KOL and Miley in one day or two. If Miley and KOL drop below 20 they go recurrent. But for that to happen we need tracks coming from below 20 pushing up (Rihanna is alreeady in top20), and I only see one track with enough momentum to do that during the freeze (Bieber). A lot of the tracks in 20-30 are going down instead of up. This will ofcourse change after the freeze when all the moving uppers in 30-40 gain spins.

Kris will also gain from possible tracks going recurrent. Colbie Caillat goes recurrent one week after the freeze and if KOL and Miley drops Kris could move up the charts.

ETA: This is the chart I am referrring to;

Tess
I think many AI bloggers are upset with Adam at this point. Many of the negative album reviews and the biggest outrage from his live performances have come from this segment of the online 'media' (though I wouldn't, myself, give bloggers that title).

^^Tess, I disagree with this. I don't post to often here because I think to much is focused on Adam rather than the actually winner of AI S8. When it comes to Adam rather you hate him or love him you just can't ignore him so I get why he gets all the attention. I read EVERYTHING on Adam good and bad and I can tell you that 85% of it is all good. For the rest of your post I agree with you. As for AI bloggers, they have no say on Adams success one way or another. They do not matter in the grand scheme of things. The "real" journalist are what matters, the mainstream media that are writing about Adam is what matters because the people that read them are so far removed from the AI bubble. I never went on an AI blog until Adam came along and there are millions of people out in the real world who don't hit the internet to see all the drama that goes on here. Adam is not for everyone and he himself has said so. He will lose some AI fans and than he will gains some. Adam fans know that most of his fans never really watch AI and some hated the show before they heard about him so the fans that he will gain will be the ones that are not into AI to begin with. As for the AMA fiasco, some people that I know where like what the hell is Adam doing LoL, and some were like Adam's got a lot of balls I love that guy, so you win some and you lose some. For those who call him a faker, a poseur a wanna be don't matter neither. Everyone has their own opinion. There are idols to me that does nothing for me, it is all a matter of your own personal taste. Adam touches MY heart, he make ME smile, he is the one that entertains me so he is the one that I will spend my money on. The same goes for other fans, I am sure their Idol touches them the same way. The music world is big enough for all of them. Adam will prevail and he will find his way and be successful in whatever makes him happy

I expect FYE to sell between 42K and 47K this week which is based on my sales trend model. .. But I will be very happy with anything above 40K this week.

If last year's model holds, album sales will drop 70% after Xmas. That would put FYE at around 12K for the first week of January. I actually think because WWFM is moving up the Top 40 chart, FYE sales should do better than that but January is horrible for album sales. So the more album sales for everyone this week the better. After Xmas albums are lucky to sell in a month what they can sell in a week before the holidays.

Ha! You guys are too funny!

I don't think it's worth being upset over that some people stopped liking Adam because of the "outrageous" AMA's and some stopped because of the "lifeless" WWFM performances... And I'm not questioning anyones motives here- I mean, you could be right, Tess, it may be for the hits, but it also may be people's honest opinion- and I say- if you can be so offended by outrageous Adam, or can even think of Adam as being "lifeless" (???!!??!?), then I guess he's just not "it" for you, and you can happily move forward with your life...
I think Adam is talented enough, and creative enough, and yes, charming enough, to survive the "quitters" and gain more new people onto his bandwagon :-)

And I never see the point in comparing Adam and Kris either- they really couldn't be more different.
Kris doesn't interest me musically, but I certainly wish him the best, because he seems like a cool dude, a real music lover and a hard worker.

I just got a funny visual of a poor blogger crying their eyes out because they have to write something negative about their beloved Adam just to get hits..

These AI bloggers are everywhere. Some are often quoted here and are used as the "standard" for seeing how the idols are doing. Bloggers post on sites like Examiner and are often linked to standard local newspaper sites. They have been writing about AI for ages...they give show reviews, tour reviews, and album reviews...anything to do with AI. They are just a google search away.
