KRIS ALLEN ‘ FORGING A POST-‘AMERICAN IDOL’ PATH

Making the right decision is important for a singer’s career, but if you’re an American Idol winner, like Kris Allen, it’s especially important to choose the perfect song.

Throughout the Idol experience, Allen’s performances were limited to the songs made available to him by the show, so defining his own style became a major necessity for him.

Luckily, the season eight champ found Live Like We’re Dying, which personifies who Allen is musically.

Cheers to a tuneful new year

Dec. 31 is the one night everyone watches TV for a party. Since Guy Lombardo ushered in 1930 on radio, we have come to expect a soundtrack for that party. As we leave 2009 behind, three of the major networks, ABC, Fox and NBC, have live concerts on Thursday, and all plan to cut to the ball dropping in Times Square at midnight.

Happy Birthday, Chris Daughtry!

Season 5 star Chris Daughtry celebrates his 30th birthday the day after Christmas. He may have ended up in fourth place, but he has had a very successful career since his time on American Idol. He formed a band, Daughtry, and they released a self-titled debut album in 2006. The album went on to become the fastest selling debut rock album in Soundscan history. Success on the charts soon followed, with the album peaking at #1 on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Top Rock Albums. Last week, Billboard released their Decade End and Year End charts, and Daughtry’s name appears all over them. After an AMA win and four Grammy nominations, it was safe to say that fourth place on American Idol wasn’t so bad after all.
