Randy Travis Pleads Not Guilty to Simple Assault Charge – Country superstar Randy Travis has pleaded not guilty to a simple assault charge, after being accused of intervening in a dispute between girlfriend, Mary Beougher, and her estranged husband, reports WFFA. Plano police issued Travis a citation for class C assault outside Prestonwood Baptist Church in August, and on Friday, the Grammy-Award-Winner told his fans to be skeptical of recent accusations against him. In Friday’s hearing, Travis entered his plea and asked the judge for a jury trial. His attorney said the singer was merely trying to defend his girlfriend and another woman. Travis will head to trial on March 11 at 8AM. – Read moer at Extra TV

Kelly Clarkson Spreads Holiday Cheer at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with Musicians On Call Nashville (from the mailbag) – The Christmas spirit was alive and well when the multi-platinum-selling singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson stopped by Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt yesterday afternoon to sing and celebrate the season with patients, staff and families through Musicians On Call (MOC) Nashville. Clarkson, who recently released her Greatest Hits – Chapter One album, visited with the children and performed an acoustic set in the Children’s Hospital Theatre. The songstress led the packed room in a sing-along of her favorite holiday carols including “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer,” “White Christmas,” and “All I Want for Christmas is You.” Clarkson encouraged singing and dancing, and the children were happy to oblige. Following the show, the kind-hearted entertainer generously offered to visit the rooms of patients unable to attend. – Read more at Nashville Gab

The Pulse: Guarini takes hope from Playhouse’s “Life.” – “When I was younger I had trouble sleeping. I would go to bed and … my mind would just be going and my parents got me for Christmas one year this ‘Golden Age of Radio’ tapes,” he told me last week. “I would listen to George Burns and Gracie Allen, Abbott and Costello, the Jack Benny show, and it was so amazing because I realized how people would go, sit in a big studio, and watch people stand in front of a microphone and do this comedy half-hour, and would see the people live making the sound effects at the Foley table.” – Read more at Philly.com

Kelly has such a sweet heart to go with that phenomenal voice of hers.

Interesting.  Chris Daughtry’s Home was the all time best selling song by an male Idol alum.  That record was shattered this year by Phillip Phillip’s Home.

Phil’s Home currently ranks #4 after Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger, Carrie Underwood’s Before He Cheats, Jordin Sparks’/Chris Brown’s No Air.

But Home hasn’t peaked yet, so it could still take over one of the above spots.

That was incredible!  It took me several minutes to recover enough to type this.  It doesn’t make sense that the NA should affect me like this.  It’s not the song.  It’s the singer!

  • suenigma

Very nice job on the NA James. Nice rock vibe.

Holy crow, G, you are fast! Thanks for the link.

The quality of the audio (muffled mike that I’m assuming it is not just on my end) is a little off but I got the gist of it. Another great job by James. I hope he gets more invitations to do the NA.

  • roarpen

Nice to hear James’ version of the NA again. He does a great job with it. I wish the mike weren’t muffled in that version. But he sounded great, much like he did for the Kings NA.

Danny singing three Christmas songs this weekend for which I don’t
recall media before (usually he does O Holy Night). The songs are Joy to
the World, Mary Did You Know, and O Come Let Us Adore Him”

Nice job Danny. The MDYK is especially intense

“Very nice job on the NA James. Respectful, but an awesome Rock vibe.”

I agree. Very good rendition of the NA with James personalizing it nicely.

Keely was among thousands of locals who not only saw the team win its debut, but saw an entertainment spectacular that included American Idol finalist James Durbin singing the National Anthem like it was a classic rock tune, trick bicyclists doing daredevil somersaults, indoor fireworks, dance groups from Oakland that had the crowd shrieking for more, the Warrior girls cheer team, Mav’Rick’s, the turtle mascot.

Fans got an extra kick as the hometown rock star, James Durbin, an “American Idol” star in 2011, sang the “Star Spangled Banner” at center court before tip-off.

They moved on to introducing the city’s outgoing and incoming mayors, and the president and the owner of the Golden State Warriors. James Durbin belted out a stirring rendition of the national anthem, and the players took the court accompanied by pyrotechnics.
