Simon Cowell blames other judges for ‘X Factor’ voting snafu

The whole outcome left Cowell perturbed at his fellow judges. “It was a just a cock-up,” he told Show Tracker in a phone interview. “I don’t think they did what they should have done, which is exactly what they were told to do: Vote on who sang the best in the sing-off. And then we got to that ridiculous place where they went to the deadlock.”

‘X Factor’: Finalists imagine life after the show, what to do with $5 million

It’s down to the Final Four on “The X Factor.” Within a matter of days, one of the remaining contestants will win the grand prize of $5 million and a recording contract.

The road to this point has been filled with struggle, angst and elation. And the hardest part is yet to come. However each of these singers took a moment to think about what they’re looking forward to after the show is over and what’s the first thing they’d buy with their new-found wealth.

Malaria No More, an organization that is celebrating its fifth birthday today, is a proud member of the fight. With an emphasis on the use of social media and other new forms of communication to raise awareness for the cause, MNM is celebrating the day with what else — a campaign on Facebook and Twitter.

Not only is the American Idol alum getting ready for her new TV show Smash to hit the airwaves in the new year, she will soon be traveling to Africa with MNM to help raise awareness for the cause.

Celebrity Interview: Diana DeGarmo

Diana is currently playing Angelina, a mob bosses daughter on the hit soap “The Young and the Restless” and she can be seen as “Dora Hand” in the film “The First Ride of Wyatt Earp” to be released in early 2012. She still remains the youngest contestant to ever make the Top 2 in all 9 seasons of American Idol. America agrees that she was amazing then and her vocal abilities are even stronger now. She’s excited to be recording her first true country album. We sat down with Diana DeGarmo to talk about her new holiday show—Upright Cabaret’s A Broadway Christmas at the Catalina Jazz Club—former American Idol contestant Ace Young and what she wants for Christmas.

Simon, “they” didn’t send it to deadlock. The other 2 judges did what they were supposed to do according to you. Nicole sent it to deadlock, so how is it all the other judges’ fault, especially when Paula actually voted to save your contesant?

Is America cock blocking him too, since America didn’t vote Rachel through?

  • BonnieDee

Get rid of Nicole.  This one stunt probably caused the ratings to tank. I know Rachel got the fewest votes but I do think she is extremely popular. A lot of people just haven’t been voting at all for X Factor.

  • Anonymous

But Simon Cowell did the SAME THING to Leroy Bell – left it up to deadlock when Leroy outsang Marcus Canty… this is a really flawed system… And the “Jennifer Hudson moment…”??? Huh? I seem to remember that he was less than fond of Jennifer Hudson as he had targeted the front-runners…

  • Mateja Praznik

America is voting to save contestants from being in bottom 2 and in danger of elimination. The judges are supposed to make the final decision. It’s their job to vote based on who they want to keep in the competition, who they think can have a career in the real world, etc. What I want to say is, their job is to have an opinion and vote. Sending the vote to deadlock because you don’t have an opinion or don’t want to vote and be responsible for someone’s departure from the show is what is bothering me. Sending vote to deadlock should not be the easy way out.

  • ronnie

I really don’t think Nicole liked Rachel as much as Marcus but couldn’t just coldly eliminate her so used the excuse she was sending it to deadlock.

  • ptebwwong

Simon said he wants to prevent a “Jennifer Hudson moment.” But many times during her season she criticized her performances. If Simon had to choose between J-Hud & Fantasia (the B2 that week), he would still have chosen Fantasia. He only says that now since she’s won an Oscar, Grammy, & is more known than Fantasia.

XF’s system like all reality show competitions has it’s flaws. Their is always a possibility of 2 shocking people (Ex. Rachel & Drew) like the J-Hud moment in the B2 one week when judges still have the power. The judges will still have to pick & a shocking elimination would still occur.

Of course Simon blames everybody else and everything else when things don’t go right in whatever he’s involved in.  It’s never him… even when it is.  He’s not man enough to accept responsibility for his own failures.

Sending vote to deadlock should not be the easy way out.

I feel the same way. Deadlock should only be used when the sing-off performances are too close to call or judges loyalties are divided between two of their own contestants. It’s they’re job. Having them sing for their lives on the show loses all meaning when they aren’t judged.

After saying that, I doubt Simon is really angry about the result. This topic brought more buzz to the show than anything else. It thrives on drama, so he’s likely very happy on the inside.

Cowell revises history more than an encyclopedia.  He hated Jennifer and practically cheered when she was eliminated.  Only when she won an Oscar does he want to claim her as one of his discoveries.  GTFO.  Last I recall, only Randy actually liked Jennifer while on Idol.

(Note: I’m trusting Wikipedia on these, since I didn’t follow the UK X factor in the last couple years)

In his last two years on the UK X-Factor Simon Cowell has voted to eliminate acts because

-A group “deserved a fair crack”
-One singer had been in the bottom 2 too often and therefore wasn’t connecting.
-A singer had a sore throat the night before and maybe didn’t give as good a performance as they could have.
-Neither of the bottom two could win anyway, so they might as well go to deadlock.
-He would rather see one act next week than the other.
    -He “continually supported” one singer.
-Because they were up against one of his own acts in the bottom two (many many times)

and NOW he claims that the judges should have voted only based on who was better in the sing off?

According to a tweeter, it looks like Kris may have gone to David A.’s show tonight in LA.  Jim Cantiello has tweeted that he was going.  I guess they could be together.

  • Anonymous

yup Kris is at Archie’s concert. nice :)

I don’t get that tweet pic. I wouldn’t even bother to pose for a pic with someone that I’m not totally a fan of.

i tought the same thing but Kris looks great :)

Syesha, Allison and Kris with Archie backstage at his concert tonight. nice! :)

That’s quite a picture there.  Syesha looks older and so broadway-ish, Allison looks soooooo skinny (what happened?), Kris looks about as young as David (or does David just look older now?), and I never realized Kris was as short as David.  Just observations, lol.  All in all, cute pic, I liked, thanks!

  • tripp_ncwy

Jim Cantiello & Kris’ friend John were there also.

Awe I love when the Idols get together so cute. Can’t wait to hear more about Kris’s new music soon, hopefully the single will be out by end of January begining of Febraury time frame, and we hear something more after the holiday. Can’t wait for Adam’s single and Album also, and hopefully they’ll both me on Idol this season to promote their singles.

I’m looking forward to music from Kris, too.  Hope it comes out sometime in 2012.  Cook is also talking of writing for the new record over the holiday break, so sounds like he’s hoping to have a fast turn-a-round this time.  And of course, there’s Adam with his new release … 2012 will be busy, with X-factor & next season’s Idols thrown into the mix.  Bring it on!

Congrats to the idols that made the Forbes list (May 2010 – May 2011).  Carrie was a BEAST!

You have doubts?  All the information that has come out recently is that new Kris music will be coming out the first part of the 2012 & back on the road in the spring.

Maybe he is a fan.  Why even go to a concert if you don’t like the performer.

She is probably a fan of David A whose concert she was attending but she was asking to pose with another Idol who clearly she was not a fan of.
    So, why ?? Weird.
