Josh Krajcik on his ‘Surreal’ Return to the ‘X Factor’ Stage, Favorite Season Two Finalist – Asked what inspired his new song “One Thing She’ll Never Know,” which the X Factor season one runner-up performed on Thursday’s elimination show, the 31-year-old Wooster, Ohio native says, quite simply: love. “I always remember being a child and feeling that first moment of love,” he told The Hollywood Reporter after the show. The song, which featured a lush string ensemble to accompany and compliment Krajcik’s soulful vocals, is from his just-released EP — a four-song collection that serves as “a nice little taste” of what’s to come from a full-length, due out next year via publishing giant BMG. Consider it an amuse-bouche, of sorts. – Read more at THR

With Broadway, ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ and new holiday tour, Clay Aiken anything but idle – “The thing with being an ‘Idol’ contestant and having a huge-selling first album and having my first single ever debut at No. 1 on the Top 100 — everything’s sort of downhill from there, always,” Aiken says in a phone call from New York. “Most people work and pay dues, play small venues to sell a few albums here and there, and they work their way up to — if they’re lucky — one day, many years down the road they’ll sing for stadiums and arenas. My very first two or three tours were me singing to 20,000 people in an arena. And so nothing’s ever going to top that.” – Read more at McCall.com

X-Factor finalist Jennel Garcia of Rochester comes home to adoring fans – “I’m not coming back a loser,” she said. “I don’t feel like a loser, because of all of you.” In between, Garcia behaved just like many saw her on TV – friendly, sweet and genuine, never turning down a hug or a photograph request. “Oh, my God,” she said has her younger fans rushed her, vying for a few minutes with the young woman that many know as “Miss Jennel,” their dance instructor at Christine’s Studio of Performing Arts in New Bedford, when she walked into the VFW hall, where her family and friends had put out a long table of food, desserts and beverages. Later in the gathering, she treated her fans to two solo songs – “Paris,” which she sang for her first televised performance, and “Home Sweet Home” and another she did with a group of singers from Christine’s Studio for the Performing Arts. – Read more at Wicked Local

Country music’s sweetheart Carrie Underwood talks about fame, being a hockey wife, and giving back – “I think it’s my best album to date. So many times you start an album and they slap a release date on it. This time I wanted to take a more relaxed approach, take more time to kind of branch out and shift my gears a little bit. Spend more time writing and change my writing style,” she says. The result is an edgier, darker album. “It was really important to me not to get into a routine of writing every single day. I feel that we have produced better results.”
She credits this freedom to her track record. – Read more at Canada.com

Country Strong – MD: What animals do you and your husband, NHL player Mike Fisher, have of your own today? CU: That’s one of the great things about having small dogs. They’re pretty portable. My husband travels a lot, too, with hockey. So the dogs got really used to being on the road with me and they’ve really become Tour Dogs. Everybody loves them and plays with them and people take them out for walks when I’m on stage. They just kind of make life for all of us on tour better. – Read more at Modern Dog Magazine

    Thank you!Thank You!Thank You!!!Loved it…..

Would it matter to them either way in China? Musical taste varies from country to country. Look at Idol’s biggest stars, Carrie, Kelly and Daughtry, are all of them considered stars or superstars in every other country. Just like Adam, it varies no matter where you go.

  • bridgette12

I like this, only hope we will get a better video of the duet.

  • milwlovesadam

     OMFG!!!  RAWK star!!  Thanks asif!!!

  • milwlovesadam

TeeHee. Love your snark Miss Chaos! The word “superstar” has been attached to him so many times I’ve lost count. Radio play does not  equal “superstar” status. World-wide celebrity and sales and magazine covers and articles and Grammy noms and celebrity copy-cats and voice comparisons and song collaborations and TV spots and “best of” lists and awards and performing in countries at huge ceremonies as the only American act and more…

    THAT is a superstar.

  • asifclueless
  • Miss Chaos

Did you see the wink!;)  And yes Adam is a Super Star everywhere else but, here.  Carrie, Kelly and Daughtry are Super Stars, everywhere including US.  My point is that Adam is appreciated everywhere else in the world but The United States.

  • bridgette12

i don’t think Carrie, Kelly and Daughtry are Superstars everywhere, because it’s hard to be considered a superstars in countries that people don’t know who you are.

  • Nadine_Bitch

oh my god, gurl! You’re the best! Thank you!

He rock the heck out of that song!

  • asifclueless

    Nadine .. Right!!!
This performance is soooo hot. I’m addicted to it. Keep F5 to refresh it a thousand times.
One of the best. Wait until the best quality of the audio of this comes out.

For me I always like the rock side of Adam. The videos I always watch so many times are WHOLE LOTTA LOVE, ENTER SANDMAN, OTHER ROCK SONGS and all of QUEENBERT songs.
    They satisfy me.  :)

Back to watch AYGGMW again. If I’m not back here .. I’m DED!!!

  • Nadine_Bitch

Noooo! Don’t die, we need you to bring some Adam goodness around here;)

I’m so tired and it’s late here… so gotta check out now! nyt y’all:)

”Clay has a great perspective on where he is in his career.  He has diversified and is at a point where he can choose to do what he wants–turning down what is not right for him.  He seems to be keeping it real and knows he is not cut out to be the next big pop star.  Have to give him credit for remaining true to himself.”In reply to the above:

“I’m curious where he has diversified his career to the point where he
can “choose” to do what he wants.  He has appeared in one Broadway
show, which he was basically stunt cast in, two television appearances
(Drop Dead Diva and Scrubs), and competed on two reality shows which he
came in second.    Also, if he can choose to do what he wants, why is he
doing nothing more than repeating the same tour he’s done at least
    three other times?

I don’t think Clay has any artistic vision for himself musically which is why he’s a non-entity in the music industry.”

Clay does know who he is musically and he knows that he isn’t the next pop singer.  It isn’t his style and he’s wise enough to know that.  He isn’t chasing the red carpet and is busy living his life and molding his career to his liking.

Clay is a political activist and an activist for social change.  Did you happen to see him on Face the Nation?  He has many serious endeavors along with his entertainment career.  I think he’s making a living for himself.  :)

  • girlygirltoo

No Idol, including Kelly, Carrie or Adam, is considered a superstar in every country. There are many countries that likely have little clue who any of these people are.

“Its easy to stay in ones lane when your lane is limited.”

Clay is spinning his career decline and confinement to the musical “lane” of singing covers/Christmas songs as a choice, when it’s really that he’s been marginalized musically and has not been a commercially viable singer of original songs. His latest lane change to singing standards was a commercial failure, so that “lane” does not appear to be a reasonable direction musically. I think that Clay may now be thinking about specializing in Christmas music, a very narrow lane indeed.

“If My December was this dismal failure it was still certified platinum
if I remember correctly Clay’s last three releases combined didn’t come
    close.”

Yes, My December was certified platinum and Never Again (first single) sold platinum. You are correct about Clay’s last three releases combined not coming close to platinum sales (as of January, 2012):

    A Thousand Different Ways, 2006 (531,000)
On My Way Here, 2008 (165,000)
    Tried & True, 2010 (68,000)

    Total: 756,000

Clay’s choices have dwindled and it’s semantics about being able to choose what he wants to do. He can choose among the offers that he’s been getting and I suspect that those offers have been few and far between of late.

“I don’t think Clay has any artistic vision for himself musically which is why he’s a non-entity in the music industry.”

I think that Clay doesn’t have a strong passion for artistry or originality in his music, and has admitted that aside from the competition aspect, he would be happy performing covers on Idol forever. It’s remarkable that he’s been as successful as he has been.

Thank you so much for that awesome video of the duet… but after watching it a few times….only one word was spinning in my head : “Tommy ! Tommy ! Tommy ! Tommy !!!

Thank you so much Tommy for the guitarplay !!

  • Axxxel

Saw the concert video on a website page of the examiner.com…

I am not american but it warms my heart to see throughout the entire 6- songs performance that giant “tickerline” at the upper board of the stage, staying….”Adam Lambert USA “. (Is it called tickerline ? I don’t know how to call it but it ressembles the lines of messages at the bottom of the TV screen during e.g. the news)

And as some people said that the stage was so high… I think that tickerline was very visible for the audience.

  • Nadine_Bitch

Asif… that vid is so good. I’m watching it with a cup of steamy goodness. Nice to wake up to, what a great morning!

    Thanks again, babe;)

No one commented on what that article reported what Clay had to say about Idol,

He says he thinks the show offers less of a chance for a career like his these days.
“I think part of it is that the show’s judges are the stars nowadays,
whereas it used to be the contestants that were the stars,” he says.
“The contestants are just an afterthought now. They’re just musical
    filler between judges’ comments.

“And it’s a disservice to the kids that go onto that show and hope to have a career like Kelly [Clarkson] or Carrie [Underwood] — or even me. Because you just can’t do that when you’re an afterthought on a show.”

I think that is the real reason for the show sliding in the ratings. Ever since they tried “stunting” with the judges starting with Ellen the original draw of the show was lost. We cared so much back in the day if Kelly or Justin and Ruben and Clay were going to win, because we really identified with them and their struggle and wanted to see them succeed. Now the contestants are like those in a game show; they set the situation for the judges to create controversy, and 95% of us forget about them once the show was over.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I don’t understand how that can be Clay’s own opinion of the show, since he’s repeatedly admitted that the last season of Idol he watched was Fantasia/Carrie’s year (he’s said both publicly). If Clay hasn’t watched the show, then I don’t know how he can have an opinion on this unless he’s gone by media and other public opinions.

  • Allison

Good point. I guess he’s reacting to the media surrounding the show, rather than the show itself.
