  • CanadianLady

    Go Scotty!

  • mmmtx

His own Christmas special!! THRILLED…Just THRILLED!

  • dabney c

Don’t know if this has been mentioned already … this morning I hear P2’s “Home” coming from the TV, and when I looked, it was a Tim Horton’s commercial!!. That’s a Canadian coffee/donut shop, for those who aren’t familiar. What the –? From women’s gymnastics, to Clint Eastwood movies, to donut shops … how many totally unrelated things can one song promote in a year?

  • DB987

Congrats to Casey for getting the Taste of Country christmas tour wish he was coming near me he puts on a great show.

  • curly_yenta

Musicians on the Campaign Trail (Billboard Magazine) – Taylor Hicks is at #12 just after Stevie Wonder & just before Katy Perry!   Nice mention! :)

  • Incipit

how many totally unrelated things can one song promote in a year?

Heh. I hope that was meant to be a rhetorical question, dabney c, so I don’t need to give you a serious reply.  Based on another Idol winner’s songs – the short answer is “Quite a few!”

Lots of Idols and judges from The Voice and American Idol on this list:

Barack Obama or Mitt Romney: Who Are Celebs Voting For?

Celebrities have played a big part in Election 2012, with many showing up at rallies for the two candidates and even more voicing their opinions on Twitter and Facebook.

Some of Obama‘s most vocal supporters include Katy Perry, Eva Longoria, Natalie Portman, and George Clooney while Romney‘s supporters include Lindsay Lohan, Melissa Joan Hart, and Clint Eastwood.

  • curly_yenta

I think a lot of those are guesses… for example, even tho Taylor Hicks performed at the RNC and is listed in the JustJared article as supporting Romney, he never endorsed or said he was supporting him.  In fact, he made a point of saying this to HIFI Magazine:

“You run the risk of performing and entertaining in a political area, but as an entertainer you have to take risks,” Hicks told Huffington Post. I don’t really talk about my party or political affiliations.” Still, Hicks
didn’t write off his chances of performing for the Dems. “I would go to the
Democratic National Convention too, if I was invited,” he adds. He still
considered the RNC musical guest appearance to be a honor, stating that “it was
just one of those things you can’t turn down.”

I’ve seen the Tim Horton commercial about 20 times already (I watch a lot of basketball.) Plus I went to our mall on Monday and it was playing there….

  • SaSa8

How great for Scotty to get his own Christmas special on GAC!  Should really help with his CD promotion during the holidays.   Very excited and can’t wait to see it.  I have to say again how much I love his voice on these Christmas songs.  Also want to say congrats to Casey James on being on the Christmas Tour.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“I would go to the Democratic National Convention too, if I was
invited,” he adds. He still considered the RNC musical guest appearance
to be a honor, stating that “it was just one of those things you can’t

It depends on the artist. I’m sure that James Taylor or Bruce Springsteen wouldn’t have a problem in turning down such an invitation. ;)

  • fuzzywuzzy

I’m sure that there are more Republican celebrity supporters, but they keep a low profile. ;)

  • curly_yenta

I don’t believe James Taylor or Bruce Sprinsteen would be caught dead at a RNC convention, actually.  LOL

  • fuzzywuzzy

I know! That’s my point. There are artists who have strong convictions in their beliefs that would prevent them from performing at (and supporting) an event that would celebrate those with opposing views. Evidently, Taylor isn’t one of these artists.

  • curly_yenta

I don’t think it has anything to see with having or not having “strong convictions”.  It’s about not pissing off half your fan base.

Springsteen and James Taylor are in a position of not having to worry about that.

  • fuzzywuzzy

We’ll just have to agree to disagree on that point.

  • patriciajames

Definitely, if Casey James is appearing anywhere that you can get to, try and see hiim — he puts on such a kick-a$$ show.  He’s so talented and entertaining. Treat yourself (and your friends) to a great Christmas present. My hubby (who is a huge fan after seeing him live) and I are (im)patiently waiting for Casey to tour the West Coast again!

  • girlygirltoo

Hopefully he’ll do some of the songs from his Xmas EP (and promote it, haha)

  • girlygirltoo

strange that Jessica’s on that list…she isn’t even old enough to vote

  • Lexie

Seems like one could plan better than that…and put on an act if you’re not getting along until you’re done with the planned dates.  Just sayin’…

Impressed that they’re trying to reimburse people for non-refundable charges.  That could hurt.

  • Eilonwy

That’s right — Kris Allen has a Xmas EP!

Outdoor malls in Arizona are actually lovely places to perform in November — as a culture, we’re very good at the whole palm trees and twinkly little lights and fountains and “aren’t you thrilled to be here where it’s warm” thing.

Also: free concert to write about at place I have to visit for work anyway… on occasion that might also run to good coupons, door prizes, and free food? Happy Early Winter Solstice to me!

  • fuzzywuzzy

I’m surprised Honey Boo Boo isn’t on the Obama supporters list. lol

  • blackberryharvest

I think they just assumed it because she played at the DNC.

  • CanadianLady

And the latest spin – during the Raptors game in the ACC – “Home” was playing really loud during a time out – you could hear it clearly on the TV.

  • Taylor

The article was listing supporters, not necessarily voters. CNN interviewed a 13 year old young girl at the victory rally in Chicago who had started volunteering for the Obama campaign at age 9. Just because you are too young to vote, doesn’t mean you are too young to get involved and support a party or a candidate.
