Jennifer Hudson Buys House in Chicago

“She’s clearly getting a deal, even at $2.79 million…it has six-bedrooms and  a six-car garage, an indoor movie theatre but no swimming pool.”  — Chicago Mag’s real estate reporter Dennis Rodkin tells Greg Jarrett/WGN this morning about his scoop that actress/singer Jennifer Hudson is buying a mansion in suburban Burr Ridge.

Jordin Sparks Gets A ‘Holiday Home’ Makeover (PHOTOS)

As if she weren’t busy enough reviving the role of “Sparkle” and showing off her svelte new figure, Jordin Sparks is also finding some time to deck the halls of her Glendale, Arizona home this holiday season.

With help from designer Berkley Vallone, Sparks is channeling her childhood to create a cozy, nostalgic refuge from her busy life on the road, on HGTV’s “Celebrity Holiday Homes.” (Remember Sherri Shepherd’s makeover last year?)

Jordin’s episode airs on December 4, 8 pm on HGTV.

‘X Factor’: L.A. Reid Promises Contestant a Bentley If He Wins

In 1970, Janis Joplin sang, “Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedez Benz.” Some 41 years later, X Factor judge L.A. Reid has upped the automobile ante significantly — to the tune of $200,000. That’s the average price for a 2012 Bentley, which is what the Epic Records chairman said he’d personally buy for finalist Marcus Canty if the 20-year-old R&B singer wins the competition.

“I haven’t given a Bentley away in a long time,” Reid tells The Hollywood Reporter. “But I told Marcus’ mom, ‘If he wins, you get a Bentley.’” (One can only assume the gift would come on top of the $5 million X Factor prize.)

Chris: Hendricks is Disney princess

Glee star Chris Colfer has hailed Christina Hendricks as a “full on Disney princess”.

The 21-year-old actor has written and stars in his own coming-of-age comedy movie Struck By Lightning, co-starring the Mad Men beauty as his stepmother and West Wing’s Allison Janney as his mum.

Chris is nervous about Struck By Lightning being released on the big screen and is hoping it will be embraced by audiences

He revealed: “I just saw the final cut of it and I’m really, really excited.

I think it’s good. The fact that I wrote it and I’m in so much and I can stand it I think says a lot because usually I can’t stand watching myself.

Keck’s Exclusives: Chord Overstreet on His Return to Glee

Unsure exactly how long Sam will be sticking around, the actor says, “It’s undetermined at the moment. I’m just having fun, and Mark [Salling], Cory [Monteith], Harry [Shum, Jr.] and Kevin [McHale] were especially glad to welcome me back.”

Extra fun was meeting his equally blonde TV parents, Mary and Dwight, played by soap actress Tanya Clarke and former The Dukes of Hazzard heartthrob, John Schneider. “John and I were doing impressions off set the whole time,” says Chord. “He does a great Christopher Walken and Sean Connery and I do Matthew McConaughey.”

MJ will you please cover (record) the Rockefeller Center tree lighting performances pre-show as well? Unfortunately my area does not cover the 7 pm pre-show with all the extra performances. I heard that Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty from Smash is gonna perform a duet in the 7 pm Hour and then Katharine McPhee will have a solo song in the 8 pm show. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Looks like X Factor is trying to show Americans that they can make “5 million dollar recording stars” by bringing over the UK winners. Good luck with that.

And it looks also like X Factor is trying to manipulate viewers into thinking the remaining contestants could possibly be worth a 5 million $$ contract. I personally don’t care for straight rap, but I think Astro is the only one in this bunch capable of making any real money or maybe not him either.
I am not saying the others don’t have their various talents, but they are just not that believable as having the “X Factor” or having “It”. Not one is that unique or different or interesting… unfortunately.
This show is too manufactured and too comes off as too fake.

    Dear Adam and Kris,

I am really tired of waiting for the Season 8 people to return with new music. I think you are both capable of amazing things and I would really like to hear some songs already. Please stop being massive teases and give up the goods. I need something fun to track. Second albums are the most interesting to me and you both make music I might actually want to hear. Get it together. Oh and Adam, if you are going to let everyone in the world hear new music except me, please implore those twerps to STFU about it so as not to annoy me even more.

    Love,
    Tinawina

(P.S. Next time either of you talk to Alison, tell her everything I just said goes triple for her. Thanks.)

  • Anonymous

Are you referencing the Hollywood Reporter article?  If so, Reid promised Marcus Canty and his mother the car, not Astro.  I don’t think he would promise a Bentley to a 15 year old.  The article also states that he told Lakoda Rayne and Chris Rene that he would sign them.  Who knows if he will follow through with those claims, especially in regards to Lakoda Rayne.

Considering that LA signed the group Karmin based off of their internet success, the X Factor finalists may be safer at another label.

  • tripp_ncwy

He wasn’t talking nonsense at that time b4 the Jive/RCA merge and restructuring.  Priorities change. Kris wasn’t the only Jive or RCA artist to have projects pushed back after the restructuring.

I suspect we will hear that Adam will debut single on a NYE show… I don’t think it’ll be released or go for adds til January. But that’s a month away. And it may stream for a week or two before it’s adds date ( see posner’s new single). So we might hear it later this month. But it looks like the promo ducks are all in a row, there is a roll out plan etc

Well, didn’t Adam say he himself would have new music out in Q4? Just because it didn’t happen doesn’t make him a person with a history of talking nonsense. I don’t think the DJ was talking nonsense either. Release dates change.

BTW, just because Kris didn’t release music in Q4 doesn’t make it nonsense that the label considers his music a priority. It just means he didn’t release the music yet.

Kris has never been one to over share details, and I doubt that he’ll say anything until the dates are pretty much written in stone.  As we’ve seen from other idol alums, dates are changed all of the time.  While they might want to release the album around a certain time, most of the early dates that we have been given are tentative.

  • Moria Polonius

Well, that ain’t Rolling Stone. Hyperbole is the mainspring of advertising so good for James.

  • Moria Polonius

All that teasing and hints about Adam’s album, small things here, big things there, they’re keeping me on tenterhooks. I don’t know how I’m going to keep my cool when the real promo circuit starts.

Kris has never been one to over share details, and I doubt that he’ll say anything until the dates are pretty much written in stone. As we’ve seen from other idol alums, dates are changed all of the time. While they might want to release the album around a certain time, most of the early dates that we have been given are tentative.

It was very wise of Kris to not have mentioned any schedule if he knew he had no idea when he was going to release. His fans can avoid all the frustration and just wait in peace until something happens, I’m a bit envious of that.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AGWO435FL6UN2ICRVTFLWRJZSA Lexie

  • Nele621

Kris has never been one to over share details, and I doubt that he’ll say anything until the dates are pretty much written in stone.

In this case, Kris should take a page out of Adam’s book. Whenever Adam tweets, the media picks it up. Kris could use that type of publicity, even if his dates aren’t solid. He needs his name out there. Humble and modesty is one thing, but if he wants people to buy his album, then he needs to not be so silent.

Yes, it doesn’t make any sense and is totally premature.  These lists tend to be publicist driven, so it looks like James’ management/publicists are doing something to promote him.

  • Anonymous

Everything you said is true but I still think it was a looong shot that Kris would have gotten a 4th qtr release. At least not in 2011. He seemed to be some distance behind Adam working on his album. Didn’t he just recently find a producer?

If he releases before Adam I will eat my words. I promise. :)

  • Nele621

Yes. Nothing against James, but his album has been out for what, like a week? And his singles and album aren’t hits yet. He also hasn’t had any notable gigs, nor received a nomination for even a small award.

  • Nele621

I think Kris started his album before Adam, and people started listening to it and raved about it (it seems a long time ago).

  • Anonymous

I !!!LOVE!!! this comment in this article about Adam’s single rollout! AWESOME!!!

“the promotions team headed by “King” Joe Riccitelli, the “Don” of all things pop music promotion, Lambert’s promotional push to radio – and other media – promises to be nothing short of overwhelming as his music goes for US radio airplay!”

Yep, if there’s one thing that the people at Jive did right it was radio promo.  It was the starkest difference between RCA and Jive, even though RCA had many successful artists.

Well, I’m not envious. If I were a Kris fan, I’d be worried about the silence.

But, there hasn’t been silence, at least not at Kris’ end, and from some of the people who he’s worked with. It would be nice if his publicist would make people in the press aware that he’s working on an album, but aside from that, nobody can talk about a date, if one hasn’t been set.

  • Anonymous

Oh I didn’t know that. Hadn’t heard anything. Thanks for clarifying.

  • Anonymous

The whole idea of Kris being stone cold silent is amusing.  He may not be shouting anything from the rooftops, but he’s not working in a vacuum.

  • Anonymous

Well, he does seem to at least have two half time shows; though, depending on who’s playing, that could actually be worse than nothing.

  • fuzzywuzzy

2 half time shows?  There’s another one other than the Niners and Steelers game?  I think that James playing to the football crowd is a good way to reach potential fans for his kind of music, but IF the appearance is more of a promo for AI, then that may not be too beneficial.

  • Anonymous

Outside the bubble it’s totally silent.  Hell, most people probably don’t even know what Adam is up to outside the bubble.  Cook’s sales scare the hell out of me as far as what happens when the media and the public forget about you.

or else all the greatest rock stars are dead.

I’m sorry, but IMO that magazine loses credibility by putting someone who has done nothing outside the Idol bubble on a list of the 100 greatest living rock stars. At least let him establish himself first! Maybe a few years down the line James will have a genuine right to be on such a list. But now? NO

  • sagi

Who says James has no organized fan base? I have been checking his following list. Weird. A few nights ago he gained a ton of “followers” all with bios containing Shakespear (ETA:I meant Sherlock Holmes) quotes, all following the same 52 people, with 5-6 retweets. Now today, there is a ton of people following with spanish bios and some more quotes, all following the same list of 52 people! Is it some mass effort to increase his following? That is dedication!

  • Anonymous

If you are talking about the Rolling Stone’s Top 100 list of anything–those are pretty much a joke. People who get into that mag are newsworthy for other reasons than their music. It’s got no music cred.

  • Anonymous

I have no idea what that venue is, but with the Revolver article and all, I’m positive he will. James is going to get far.

  • Moria Polonius

Rolling Stone has no music cred…? It’s the only American music magazine I’ve heard about… So which music magazine does have music cred, out of curiousity?

  • Anonymous

About time some fans realize that a Closed FB forum, a Closed paying Fan Website and putting down anyone trying to set-up something that make a little bit of sense is not going to help James with some buzz LOL.

I don’t think that real buzz is created by hardcore fans.  Nobody cares that hardcore fans inflate youtube views or power vote in online polls.  Real buzz that’s going to result in media attention is more organic and widespread.

Outside the bubble it’s totally silent.  Hell, most people probably don’t even know what Adam is up to outside the bubble.  Cook’s sales scare the hell out of me as far as what happens when the media and the public forget about

The publicity that reaches a mass audience is definitely necessary, but it’s not going to happen by Kris tweeting dates that keep changing.  That type of PR has to be spearheaded by his management, and go beyond just tweets, or Kris, and anyone else, communicating with hardcore fans.

I got it.. so the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All time RS just had in December 2011 issue are not really the greatest guitarists of all time? Jimmy Hendrix nothing..Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Hallen, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Slash, John Lennon, George Harrison, BB King, Carlos Santana, etc?? I guess they’re all pretty much a joke. OK.. I wonder what these people think about this, I meant some of them are still alive now..

  • Anonymous

Rolling Stone is the #1 music magazine in America with more information on a larger variety of music than anything else. They cover both mainstream and indie music and are still considered to be highly respected inside and outside the music industry. And they’ve always written articles beyond just artists’ music b/c music is impacted by personal life experiences and so much goes into a being a musician/performers. If that’s what you call newsworthy, then I’m glad they do it since it gives a deeper perspective into or new look at the music.

Music is such a subjective thing. What one person thinks lacks “credibility,” others think are groundbreaking. It’s why I enjoy their coverage of musical diversity.

I don’t know enough about Revolver to speak on it’s behalf, but if it gets James’s name out to rock fans, I say good for him.

  • Anonymous

Just curious- who were the voters for the Revolver list? I happen to have the Rolling Stone list here ( subscriber) and all the guitarists were voted on by other guitarists ( Eddie Van Halen, Ritchi Blackmore, Clapton, etc). That gives the list major credence. When Lyndsey Buckingham is rated #100, now THAT’s a LIST, lol.

I can’t even think of 50 great rock voices from people that are alive today, because, well, modern rock is pretty much dead as a doornail, and maybe… just maybe,  Revolver is still in denial about it :)

  • Anonymous

Yes they are and that is what they are paid for.

I mean, I can be enthusiastic about what I love, but I’m not that energetic. I do think it is very funny that there is this bot called Troy Warren who shows up periodically and tells everyone to vote for James. Even James thanked him in, I think September with a big old winky smile. I have a make-over bot following me on twitter and I think it might be trying to tell me something. At least the sex bots have been mostly banished.

They are always shifting those around with the exception of Freddie. He is always the top 1 or the lowest I’ve seen him is #2. Steve Perry and Jeff Buckley are often in the top 3 too. I’ve seen Robert Plant as low as 20 on that list. So, they really shift. I guess it depends upon who in their forum is voting. Less than half on that top ten list is alive. Isn’t the revolver list for living vocalists?

Wonder If Lambert made that list in Revolver? That would make it more credible. :)

I would think that would make it less credible, since not only does he have just one album under his belt but his genre is actually pop.

Rolling Stone is the #1 music magazine in America with more information on a larger variety of music than anything else.

I think a lot of people would say that Billboard deserves that honor.  I’d also guess that they have a better rep. than Rolling Stone, and are more respected.  But, that’s subjective.

Rolling Stone has taken a lot of heat from people outside and inside of the industry over the last few years, but most of that is due to people being upset about some of the acts that they cover, and some of the topics that they focus on.  But paraphrasing what you said, who’s to say that those topics are silly, or when they label someone as a savior or the best that it is any more valid when another publication does it.

I think a lot of people would say that Billboard deserves that honor.

Some might think they deserve it (I might even agree, I get much of my music news from their site), but technically it just doesn’t sell as much as Rolling Stone, and that’s what I meant when I said #1. This could be b/c Billboard is intended for music professionals while magazines like RS are for music fans. In the 90s, RS changed it’s formatting to appeal to a younger audience, but they’ve switched it back a few years ago and the complaints have died down, except in their regards to their lack of hip-hop coverage. Billboard has faced it’s own critiques over the year, primarily about how they often focus on the top tier in terms of sales. I don’t think there a music publishing (print, online, tv) company that is liked by everyone.

Eho’s to say that those topics are silly, or when they label someone as a savior or the best that it is any more valid when another publication does it.

This is what I meant, yes. Someone could agree wholeheartedly with what RS, BB, or any other magazine publishes while others will dislike it. If someone cares enough about credibility, they should look into the criteria of the journalists or who votes for the mags’ polls and make decisions based on that.

To be a rock legend, aren’t people supposed to know about you and your songs? Judging by debut numbers, that’s not really the case with James.

So Scotty was really fantastic at the DPAC concert.  Sang 9 songs including 2 Christmas songs.  Performed and signed autographs to big paying meet and greeters, and all for free for a good cause.  The other guys (well, most of them) were great, too!

Wow he sang 9 songs ,about 25 mins long .I am sure you like the concert and I am sure you got the vids right :))

Scotty performed pro bono for a cause. This should headline the internet and not the TXGiving mishap. Media is actually to blame. Without controversy, people will not give attention to their news. Anyway, any news, whether good or bad is good publicity for Scotty. All eyes are focused on him and that means he has arrived. Whether they like it or not, Scotty is now a star and has proven that he may not be good at lipsync but perform great and sing in tune live. He is now getting the attention of the general public. He is a
    complete package.

All’s fair in love and Idol.  ;-)

  • mm99

Sorry, no vids and only two pics.  I was too busy watching the concert… :)

Why not? His name is brought up in every topic by someone.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I agree.  Pretty much every Idol has their share of BSC fans who will do ridiculous things to try to boost sales or create the perception that their Idol is more popular than they really are.  These people aren’t just limited to fans of James and Adam.

I haven’t noticed his fans bringing his name up in every topic but I notice you do for some reason.
