According to AO, looks like Adam's got a couple more appearances lined up. So it looks like any Adam fans who were concerned about ABC blackballing him or something can rest easy, his Kimmel concert performance will be on ABC.

12.14.09
Tonight Show w/ Conan O'Brien, NBC-TV

I don't think Kris' sales being talked about is even relevant. We've seen idols who sell big first weeks, tank later and that was the point Lyndsey was trying to make and ended up doing so in a weird way. As a Kris fan, I don't really care if it is even talked about everywhere in the world, and I don't think it bothers him. As far as he is able to sell enough in the end, which I think he will, it's not a big deal.
It's only idol fans and the media who care about these. The music buyer who hears Kris' music on air and likes it is not going to look at his low sales before buying.
As Kirsten pointed out in the mediabase thread yesterday, he'll make his big money from his songwritting anyway. In the end, he will be okay. I don't think earning over $30,000 from 80,000 albums sold for songwritting credits only is bad at all for Kris. The media can write whatever they want. I now see why Kris is chill and Jive is so confident. He is really in for the long haul.

Clearly I'm cursed. I also apologize to Mark on SYTYCD S4 as well for that.

Dude, that was your fault? Whew, I thought it was me. Did you also dig Ade last season? Travis and Natalie Season 2? Danny Tidwell? Anyway, please don't root for Jakob, kthx, cuz I'm looking to improve my record to 1 and 5.

Just sayin', but as a child, I had no greater ambition than to be a Solid Gold Dancer. Those chicks were the coolest things ever to my 9 year old self. Either that, or I totally had plans to win Dance Fever.

Hahaha. I'll see your Solid Gold ambitions and raise you a Fly Girl. J Lo's ass was such an inspiration.

Tomorrow, first week album sales won't be the talked about thing anymore, as Kris will be doing a lot of gigs for these Jingle Ball things and the focus will finally go back to what really matters.

Unfortunately, I don't think this will be the case. Generally, it's only the inside-the-Idol-bubble people who are talking about the preliminary numbers, i.e Slezak, Parker (she really jumped the gun with her 225,000 figure) - with maybe a few outsiders picking up the story. I believe the mainstream media will wait until final numbers are in. But, truly, neither of us really knows ... and we'll find out soon enough.

But hey, as a wise one once said to me, at least Cleveland is home to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!

I have been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 49 times. Cleveland Rocks! I am waiting to see if Adam's outfit from the AMA will land in their display case for the newer artists.

I do feel Kris' sales have been influenced by the economy. Also, so many Idols have CDs out and there's only so much money to spend in a limited budget. I just hope he continues to do what he loves. Same with Adam.

Well, many people were offended by the AMAs performance, so I'm not surprised he got crap for it. I'm not condoning the homophobic comments by some of those same people, though. I've noticed that the majority of articles on Adam though that elicit strong reactions are the ones that have to do with something Adam did.

Nope! There are ugly, homophobic comments on the album reviews. Adam can have an article about his charity and that will receive ugly comments. Hell, that's happened here.
I don't care if Adam poses naked(well,I would really care!)- it wouldn't justify homophobic comments. No one "deserves" those kinds of comments.

I think Parker should have come out with this article sooner. Tomorrow, first week album sales won't be the talked about thing anymore,

There won't be big articles on the yahoo home page about the jingle bell balls. People outside of the bubble aren't going to read this detailed article about AI sales. (I barely got through it.) I read it as a bunch of excuses.
Kris has the lowest sales of any AI winner. That fact doesn't go away and you will see it mentioned in articles for a long time.

I thought Parker's article was an attempt to respond to all these other articles floating around the net about how Kris is the worst Idol winner ever based on these initial sales.

Actually, I think it's an attempt to preempt those articles which won't really hit the net until the final numbers are in '“ this week.

Well it's not really preemptive if they are already out there. Just recently, the Access Hollywood article was released comparing the album sales of both Idols as well; of course, the headline was Kris "flopping" in first week album sales. Some headlines even edit out the part about it being a first week thing; they misleadingly say "Kris Allen's debut album flops, has the worst sales of any Idol winner". Trust me. I'm not making this stuff up. I would love to see nothing but positivity on the net about Kris, but it's damn near impossible.

Truthiness
12/01/2009 at 1:15 am

And Adam has always had tons of nastiness about him on EW, lots of it personal and just ugly. The interwebz has been especially filled with anti-Adam statements vis-a-vis the AMAs and his subsequent interviews or whatever. I think there was only some swinging back, and only some mind you, when CBS did it's blurring of the Tommy/Adam kiss and not the Brit-Brit/Madonna one. So as an Adam fans I thank CBS for their fuckery, as someone who is interested in equal rights, not so happy.

Well, many people were offended by the AMAs performance, so I'm not surprised he got crap for it. I'm not condoning the homophobic comments by some of those same people, though. I've noticed that the majority of articles on Adam though that elicit strong reactions are the ones that have to do with something Adam did. Like, say, for the Details photo shoot. He got a lot of crap for that too from people in the gay community. The OUT magazine controversy, the AMAs. Kris only has to EXIST and people are giving him crap just because they think he was undeserving of the AI crown. It could be an article on how Kris saves a baby from a burning building and SOMEONE is bound to pop up and say "But ADAM WAS ROBBED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But in all seriousness, there is tons of crap on the interweb about Kris, and he's not even polarizing at all like Adam is. He continues to heap praise after praise on Adam and all his peers, remains gracious and classy even when he's being dogged when people ask him about Adam in interviews, and keeps dropping sincerely adorable phrases like "people should be nice to people" (re: Christians being nice to gays question in the LOGO interview) and STILL the one mistake that devalues all of that is that he had the audacity to win American Idol. Kind of sad.

Actually, I think it's an attempt to preempt those articles which won't really hit the net until the final numbers are in '“ this week.

Actually, it's probably too late.My husband came home telling me about a story on his yahoo home page today declaring Kris to have the lowest sales of any Idol winner. The story also said Adam had sold 225K.
(BTW, hubby never talks about AI.)
I'm afraid these kind of articles are what most of those outside of the bubble will see and read. Parker's article will mostly be read and debated inside the bubble. So, all it did was stir the shit some more.

You're right. It IS too late. I think Parker should have come out with this article sooner. Oh good, something like that is needed, imo, and I'm surprised, but happy LP did this. I believe she explained the situation well, while still saying Adam's album probably would have sold better anyway-which I agree with.

LOL! I think that's why my husband may have some empathy for me, he's a Cleveland sports fan! Mainly the Browns and Indians, but the Cavs as well. He is a college FB fan though as well, go Buckeyes!!!

Yay a Browns fan! Tell your hubby "Hi" from one Cleveland fan to another! I love living in Ohio. Even though the Browns stink worse then David Cook's poor Chiefs!

So, I'm guessing this would be a bad time to tell my little story about a few years ago when I got to drink beer out of the Stanley Cup?

Sounds intriguing indeed, lol!

Be kind to your husband, he's suffered a lot. :D

LOL, I've come to realize this! He used to be the eternal optimist, now he says the Indians will probably win the World Series the year after he dies.

But hey, as a wise one once said to me, at least Cleveland is home to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!

The nastiness can be observed on articles like in Entertainment Weekly, for instance. Remember Slezak came out with the article about Kris's debut sales?
And Adam has always had tons of nastiness about him on EW, lots of it personal and just ugly. The interwebz has been especially filled with anti-Adam statements vis-a-vis the AMAs and his subsequent interviews or whatever. I think there was only some swinging back, and only some mind you, when CBS did it's blurring of the Tommy/Adam kiss and not the Brit-Brit/Madonna one. So as an Adam fans I thank CBS for their fuckery, as someone who is interested in equal rights, not so happy.

Anyhew, loved the Slezak/Adam interviews. Very informative and talking about the music and they had a nice rapport. Very cute. I love Jim, but he's not Slezak or Michelle Collins when it comes to Adam. But hey, different people, different rapports. Though gotta say at this point Slezak is pulling ahead because he's gotten great interviews from all of Kradison and he really tried with Danny. I swears!

Oh and speaking about Danny, I really wanted to say good for him in the newest promotions and I'm glad his information is being spread here as well as videos of this stuff. Whatever problems I ever had with Danny? the vast majority of his fans rock, so I'm always glad for you guys :D
