‘X Factor’ Goes Live, And Britney, Demi Get (Barely) Passing Grades – t was the moment that “X Factor” fans were waiting for. Wednesday night’s first live show promised proof of whether new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato were ready for prime time, or if the latest bold-name reality singing show panelists only give great TV in the editing room. And the early verdict after the two-hour performance show was … yes and no.
MTV News spoke to a pair of “Factor” experts to judge Britney and Demi and the reviews were mixed, though both agreed that Spears was taking home a pretty hefty paycheck compared to the Dr. Seuss-level amount of words she expended on the show. – Read more at MTV

Nicki Minaj Has No Problem Being The ‘Toughest’ Judge On ‘American Idol’ – “You’re going to see the no makeup, the crazy sweaty face in the studio, you know, the regular stuff. You’re going to see rehearsals for the tour. People always see the glamorous side of the tour when I’m all made up and done up and everything is already set in stone,” Minaj said. “You’re going to see the behind-the-scenes stuff…me saying how I really feel about the people who interview me and a good part of what I love about the special is that its showing the people around me, the people I love, the people I have to be with everyday and its showing us take on these new things that are going my way recently.” – Read more at MTV

Clear as McCreery: ‘Idol’ star balances life in college and country music – “I’d been singing my whole life,” McCreery said. “ ‘Idol’ was something I’d watched for a few years. We had the frequent-flier miles and hotel points, so we treated it like a vacation.” McCreery admits it took a while to get used to the limelight. His fans sometimes follow his tour bus out of town, or drive by his home to take pictures. He was once asked what his favorite candy was during an interview, and ever since, his fans give him Starburst and Tootsie Rolls at every show. – Read more at Wenatchee World

Does Carrie Underwood Want To Become An ‘American Idol’ Judge? – “I’ve never been asked to be a part of ‘American Idol’ in that capacity. I don’t know if I could ever judge. I think I would be nice to everybody, even if they really needed to hear the truth. So, I don’t think I would probably make a very good judge,” Carrie says. – Read more at RyanSeacrest.com

The two faces of ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ – “I’m still trying to figure out whether Hyde is a tragic figure or not,” says Maroulis. “That’s a conversation we could have weeks from now or years from now. This show elicits those conversations from the audience: I got into one with a group of bright kids, girls who were just so articulate, and they were fascinated by the duality of man. That’s (a topic) for all ages.” – Read more at Charlotte Observer

Pepsi Offering New ‘X Factor’ Winner Grammy Commercial, $5 Million Contract With Sony’s Syco – Pepsi is upping the stakes of its historic prize package for The X Factor by offering the season two winner another $5 million record deal (this time with Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment on Sony) as well as the chance to develop, create and produce their first original track and film the accompanying music video. ‘X Factor’: 20 Things You Didn’t See on Thursday’s Broadcast – Someone was running late for X Factor. It was L.A. traffic’s fault, swear, but it turned out to be a fortuitous delay — because since yours truly strolled in at five minutes to air, the only available open seat was at the end of row 2. Or maybe it should be called the Crow row, since positioned near the aisle was none other than season one’s Rachel Crow, the spunky, 14-year-old belter who wowed America last year, but ultimately finished in fifth place. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

‘The X Factor’: Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid talk Emblem3, Lyric 145 and Diamond White – “I think they’re the anti-One Direction,” Cowell adds about Emblem3. “I think they’re very different. I like the idea you can have two bands competing against each other, different sets of bands.” He believes in the group — consisting of brothers Wesley and Keaton Stromberg and their friend Drew Chadwick — so much that he even let them choose their own song for Wednesday night’s Top 16 performance. Usually it’s up to the judge to pick a song, but as Cowell revealed: “Emblem3 chose their song, [Matisyahu's "One Day"], last night. I’d never heard it before. It was going to be their safety song and they played it for me. I said ‘Are you nuts? You’ve got to sing that song Wednesday!’ But I would never have chosen that song.” Now we know why Emblem3 didn’t SUCK on Wedensday… – Read more at Zap2it

Britney Spears Trial Over: Sam Lutfi Defamation Case Dismissed – LOS ANGELES (AP) — Britney Spears’ former confidante and self-professed manager failed to prove his libel and breach-of-contract claims against the singer’s parents and her caretakers, a judge who dismissed the case mid-trial ruled Thursday.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Suzanne Bruguera said an attorney for Sam Lutfi hadn’t proven any of his allegations in the case that centered on events before the singer’s public meltdown more than four years ago.
Lutfi’s side rested its case Tuesday, but Bruguera agreed with arguments by attorneys for Spears’ father and her conservators that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to send the claims to a jury. – Read more at Huffington Post

‘Glee’s’ Blake Jenner Previews Ryder’s Dyslexia and Finn as His ‘Role Model’ – The Glee Project season two winner Blake Jenner will make his Glee debut as newbie Ryder Lynn on the Fox musical when the series returns Nov. 8 and the character comes with a full plate. Ryder is an existing student at McKinley, and like Jenner was in high school, is member of the football team. The character will possess many of the traits — vulnerability, caring, sensitive, driven — that the actor displayed during the Oxygen reality competition that earned him the seven-episode run. “I’m really stoked for everybody to see who Ryder plays, it’s really fun,” Jenner tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Once you meet him, you see he’s a strong person but he has his own vulnerabilities and being dyslexic is one of them.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

I thought all the idols looked beautiful and handsome last night on the CMA show.  Scotty did a nice job presenting Carrie Hosting, performing, Kellie performing and for those who didn’t catch The Boots red carpet coverage with Lauren and Greg Campbell it was very entertaining.  Lauren is a quirky funny kid for sure but she did a good job.  Its clear she has made a lot of friends in the country world already.

guessing Adam will just be pre-recording a short greeting for that Toronto xmas thing…its broadcast on 11/18…he has a show in south africa 11/17…pretty logistically difficult for him to actually be there for the event…back to China for 12/2 event?  so after South Africa shows, presumably back to the US for Thanksgiving, then back to China right afterwards, back to US for NYC benefit show on 12/8, out to San Fran for jingle on 12/14.  Bali for New Years eve. Thats a lotta long flights.

So LA was just BSing in his critique of Lyric 145:

Cowell also has a strong group in hip-hop trio Lyric 145, but L.A. Reid
couldn’t resist trying to shake Cowell’s confidence after Lyric
performed a mashup of “Boom! Shake the Room” and “Gangnam Style” on the
    performance show.

“You want the truth? It was payback,” Reid
explains about his criticism on Wednesday’s show that the song choice
wasn’t authentic enough. “Didn’t you see how Simon beat me up [over song
choices]? I’m being 100% honest. He was right about my song choice
being horrible. He actually did good, but I just couldn’t give it to
him. [The performance] was really fun.”

    “That was very awkward
for me, because this is not an area of music that I know well,” Cowell
admits. “I tried to make you insecure about it,” Reid confesses. “You
    did!” Cowell exclaims.

    Jerk.

Ah… a person with power in the music industry jerking around the aspiring talent and the potentially music-buying audience in order to score off one of his peers. Okay, then.

    You want the truth?
“…jerking around the aspiring talent and the potentially music-buying audience in order to score off one of his peers. ”

Sure. The ‘truth’ is this is a game to him and Cowell – their own arena for scoring off each other. The audience can be reassured that every critique is BS…even if it comes with a disclaimer, “This time it’s the truth. No, really.”

What do you give a man who has everything – IDK, a Reality Show to play with? Demi and Britney aren’t in the Boys Club, Audience be damned, and what about the Hamsters?

    As if we didn’t know.

    Hicksville USA…

“….There will be some tweaking to the show that ran for eight weeks over the summer at Bally’s. He talks of expanding the room’s video presentation (a highlight in the summer run was a fired-up taped intro by Stephen Colbert). A new album, to be released next year, is also in the offing.

“We’re going to be playing some new material and using some new musical ideas, especially now that a new record is on the horizon,” he says. “We’ve got some new original material for the record, and new covers we’re working with.”

The photographer, Robert Sebree, took the cool Official Twitter Page photos of David C – and some others you folks would recognize…of which this one is my favorite. Just as ‘Dual’ as the Twitter pics, in it’s own subtle way. IMO.

However, on his website, there’s now a splash page of celebrities he has done layouts for, and on the Music page, there are two other pictures of David that I hadn’t seen before. Try playing ‘Where’s Waldo?’ – and find them both?

Oh, and along the way, you may find a few other folks you will recognize from this blog. Heh. This is a busy guy!

    Enjoy!

P2 and his management group had 2 really good ideas to keep people thinking on him and his single “Home”:

1st.- It´s about sending one lucky winner to his/her home, just have to send a letter, e-mail, photo or video.
    http://www.phillipphillips.com/homesweeps/#!/latest

2nd.- PLJ radio is using a lot the song “Home” as symbol of hope 4 the victims of Sandy, and now, P2 will give a concert with the PS22 chorus 4 helping this victims.

I caught a few clips on YouTube. The dress looked pretty and she was so social, she has no fear, joking with Willie Nelson. He came right back “I’m not that busy.” The other interviewer was more seasoned, and appeared to have done some homework, asking about albums, kids, basically keep the conversation going. Good first gig, she just needs practice so its not all improv. It should look like its off the cuff, but with balance so it doesn’t stall.

Yep. At least when it comes to LA Reid, the audience can assume this now. It’s interesting to me that LA is supposed to be the one person on the panel who has credibility when it comes to urban acts, yet he intentionally lied in trying to frame Lyric145′s performance as kind of a joke and without any authenticity just to score points off Simon. How old is this guy? (rhetorical question)
