And the early verdict after the two-hour performance show was … yes and no.
MTV News spoke to a pair of “Factor” experts to judge Britney and Demi and the reviews were mixed, though both agreed that Spears was taking home a pretty hefty paycheck compared to the Dr. Seuss-level amount of words she expended on the show. – Read more at MTV

Nicki Minaj Has No Problem Being The ‘Toughest’ Judge On ‘American Idol’ – “You’re going to see the no makeup, the crazy sweaty face in the studio, you know, the regular stuff. You’re going to see rehearsals for the tour. People always see the glamorous side of the tour when I’m all made up and done up and everything is already set in stone,” Minaj said. “You’re going to see the behind-the-scenes stuff…me saying how I really feel about the people who interview me and a good part of what I love about the special is that its showing the people around me, the people I love, the people I have to be with everyday and its showing us take on these new things that are going my way recently.” – Read more at MTV

He was once asked what his favorite candy was during an interview, and ever since, his fans give him Starburst and Tootsie Rolls at every show. – Read more at Wenatchee World

Does Carrie Underwood Want To Become An ‘American Idol’ Judge? – “I’ve never been asked to be a part of ‘American Idol’ in that capacity. I don’t know if I could ever judge. I think I would be nice to everybody, even if they really needed to hear the truth. So, I don’t think I would probably make a very good judge,” Carrie says. – Read more at RyanSeacrest.com

The two faces of ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ – “I’m still trying to figure out whether Hyde is a tragic figure or not,” says Maroulis. “That’s a conversation we could have weeks from now or years from now. This show elicits those conversations from the audience: I got into one with a group of bright kids, girls who were just so articulate, and they were fascinated by the duality of man. That’s (a topic) for all ages.” – Read more at Charlotte Observer

‘X Factor’: 20 Things You Didn’t See on Thursday’s Broadcast – Someone was running late for X Factor. It was L.A. traffic’s fault, swear, but it turned out to be a fortuitous delay — because since yours truly strolled in at five minutes to air, the only available open seat was at the end of row 2. Or maybe it should be called the Crow row, since positioned near the aisle was none other than season one’s Rachel Crow, the spunky, 14-year-old belter who wowed America last year, but ultimately finished in fifth place. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

‘The X Factor’: Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid talk Emblem3, Lyric 145 and Diamond White – “I think they’re the anti-One Direction,” Cowell adds about Emblem3. “I think they’re very different. I like the idea you can have two bands competing against each other, different sets of bands.” He believes in the group — consisting of brothers Wesley and Keaton Stromberg and their friend Drew Chadwick — so much that he even let them choose their own song for Wednesday night’s Top 16 performance. Usually it’s up to the judge to pick a song, but as Cowell revealed: “Emblem3 chose their song, [Matisyahu’s “One Day”], last night. I’d never heard it before. It was going to be their safety song and they played it for me. I said ‘Are you nuts? You’ve got to sing that song Wednesday!’ But I would never have chosen that song.” Now we know why Emblem3 didn’t SUCK on Wedensday… – Read more at Zap2it

Britney Spears Trial Over: Sam Lutfi Defamation Case Dismissed – LOS ANGELES (AP) — Britney Spears’ former confidante and self-professed manager failed to prove his libel and breach-of-contract claims against the singer’s parents and her caretakers, a judge who dismissed the case mid-trial ruled Thursday.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Suzanne Bruguera said an attorney for Sam Lutfi hadn’t proven any of his allegations in the case that centered on events before the singer’s public meltdown more than four years ago.
Lutfi’s side rested its case Tuesday, but Bruguera agreed with arguments by attorneys for Spears’ father and her conservators that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to send the claims to a jury. – Read more at Huffington Post
