Cee Lo Green, Mariah Carey to Perform on NBC’s ‘Christmas in Rockefeller Center’ – “American Idol” and “The Voice” might be rivals in the singing-competition arena, but the two shows will come together — sort of — for the Christmas season. “Voice” coach Cee Lo Green and Mariah Carey — who begins her stint as an “American Idol” judge when the show returns in January — will both be on hand to perform on NBC’s 15th Annual “Christmas in Rockefeller Center,” the annual celebration of the lighting of the Christmas tree in New York’s Rockefeller Center. The special airs on November 28 at 8 pm. – Read more at The Wrap.

Robbery suspect, ‘American Idol’ contestant, surrenders – An “American Idol” contestant wanted in the armed robbery of a couple in the parking lot of a Daytona Beach store has surrendered, police said. Antonio Morez Wheeler, 25, went to the Volusia County Branch Jail on Tuesday and posted $50,000 bail on charges of armed robbery, Daytona Beach police said Wednesday. Investigators said Wheeler — who lives in Orlando and has a lengthy arrest record — sold two fake computers at gunpoint to a Palm Coast couple on Nov. 9 in the parking lot of the Target store on West International Speedway Boulevard. – Read more at News-JournalOnline

‘American Idol’ Alum Todrick Hall Makes ‘X Factor’ Debut – How did Hall, who famously put his own spin to Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” for his first Idol semifinal performance (and was eliminated after singing a Queen song), land the gig? Credit choreographer Brian Friedman. “He’s a great guy and a friend of mine who follows my work,” Hall told The Hollywood Reporter following Wednesday’s live show. “He wrote me and said, ‘I know this may be weird, but would you ever consider being a backup singer?’ I was, like, ‘Absolutely!’ Two days later, I’m on stage singing with everybody.”
As it turns out, Hall didn’t even have to audition, but his Idol training came in handy when it was time to learn more than 12 songs (thanks to last-minute changes) in just a couple of days. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

‘X Factor’ ‘Diva’ Night: 20 Things You Didn’t See on TV – Also strangely heartwarming: Simon is spotted returning from a commercial break with former fiancé Mezhgan Hussainy in tow. Seems the stunning makeup artist is still very much in the X Factor creator’s life, according to various reports — and thine own eyes. No surprise there, though — another of his former flames, Extra’s Teri Seymour, is a set regular. American Idol bonus: season nine semifinalist Todrick Hall is one of six backup singers sweetening vocals for the contestants. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Keith Urban: ‘American Idol’ ‘allows you to keep your real job’ – “As best we can, we’ve been able to navigate through the audition process,” the friendly Urban tells Zap2it of scheduling his other current activities around “American Idol” and also looking ahead a year, should he re-up for the show. “The good thing is that the auditions aren’t like weeks and weeks. We’ll do two days somewhere, then two days somewhere else, and they’re not often strung together. Sometimes, it’s been a couple of weeks between cities.” – Read more at Zap2it

Kelly Clarkson dreams of boob job – The Since U Been Gone singer admits she’s not a fan of her small breasts, but she doesn’t think she’s got the nerve to have them enhanced. She tells In Touch magazine, “I dream daily of a boob job. I have little boobs. I really want one. But I’m so scared, I would never do it. I’m a wussy girl, and I’d get freaked out.” – Read more at Toronto Sun

Kelly Clarkson didn’t rush ‘Greatest Hits’ – Next week, Kelly Clarkson will become the first act from American Idol to release a greatest-hits compilation. “Well, I hope no one would have beat me on that!” says Clarkson, who won the show’s inaugural 2002 season at age 20. “That would have been sad.” “When I found out that label wanted to release a greatest-hits project, I was like, ‘I want to write something specifically to describe the arc and flow of how the last 10 years have been,'” she says. – Read more at USAToday

Kelly Clarkson in no rush to become country star – “I have, like, 5,000 duets in country music,” Clarkson says, flashing a smile. “I don’t have one in pop. That’s legitimately because everyone turns me down. I’m not even kidding. I’ve asked sooo many artists to sing with me. Everyone legitimately turns me down! The only one that hasn’t was Chris Daughtry.” The sugary sweet pop star who’s called Nashville, Tenn., home for the past six years isn’t naming names (and much to the dismay of fans, her collaborations with fellow “Idol” alum Daughtry were never released.) While she hasn’t exactly been able to hook up with the perfect pop ally, Clarkson has found a partner outside the recording studio. – Read more at Associated Press

Aerosmith appeared in Wichita but ‘Idol’ didn’t, despite what Steven Tyler says – “Do you travel so much that you forget where you are at times?” Bones asked. “Absolutely, absolutely,” Tyler said before unintentionally going on to prove it. “I was on the set the other night in … Wichita, Kansas,” Tyler said. That part was true. Aerosmith played Intrust Bank Arena Sunday night. “Just so happened ‘Idol’ was there,” Tyler said. He went on to explain that he called up his former “Idol” buddies Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest, who said they wanted to come to his show. “Of course, I dragged them both out on stage, which was a hoot for me. That was my coup de gras, getting them both out on stage in my world and not on the set of ‘Idol’ was a grand finale for me.” A grand finale it may have been, but it didn’t happen in Wichita. “Idol” was taping in Oklahoma City. Tyler went on to say that the next day he stopped by where “Idol” was shooting in some sort of costume. “I jumped on the set and tried to fool them to see if they could figure out who I was.” Tyler said listeners would have to watch “Idol” to see if he managed to fool anyone. – Read more at Kansas

Carrie Underwood excited for BOK Center show Wednesday – “Coming back to Oklahoma for concerts is always exciting – I’m definitely looking forward to it.” But like any holiday get-together, she also gets the jitters. “I’ve spent so much time around Tulsa my whole life, so when I’m in Tulsa, even though it’s an hour away from my parents house and my hometown, and that’s why all of this still feels like home,” she said, then paused. “I have to add, there still feels like there’s a little added stress because we generally have so many family members and friends coming to those shows. – Read more at Tulsa World

The Voice': Cee Lo Green & Christina Aguilera Talk Rule Changes, AMAs – Taking the role of eliminator out of “The Voice” coaches’ hands sits well with at least two of the stars in the oversized red chairs. “My trust has been replenished,” Cee Lo Green said after the Nov. 13 live show that saw the cast of singers whittle to 10 from a dozen. “It was exactly as I would have chosen.” Christina Aguilera, who said goodbye to her team’s Adriana Louise, a waitress from Brooklyn, said “it’s bittersweet. I’m a little thankful the pressure is not on my shoulders. There are such a lot of unique singers to there are no losers. They’re all ‘The Voice’ in different ways.” – Read more at Billboard

‘The Voice’s’ Christina Aguilera on Live Show Cuts, and Why She Doesn’t Read What’s Written About Her – “On one level I’m a little thankful that all the pressure is not on my shoulders to make the decision,” she told The Hollywood Reporter after the show. However, seeing one of her team members go wasn’t easy for the coach, who is now starring in her third season on the NBC singing competition. “It’s bittersweet,” she said. “They’re all ‘the voice’ in their own different ways, and they’ll keep fighting from here. As I say, this is only the beginning.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

‘DWTS’ eliminated dancers: One blames the marathon, other blames … herself – It was a double-elimination on Dancing with the Stars tonight. To read the parting words from the booted male and female, head to the jump: No more laughs and no more hot abs – Kirstie Alley and Gilles Marini were both knocked out of the competition Tuesday! While that gives their partners a chance to spend more time together (in case you’ve been living under a rock, Maks Chermkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are dating), there will be no more skin shots from the Switched at Birth star and no more comic relief from the likes of Alley, who worked like a zen master when it came to de-grumping her Ukrainian hoofer. – Read more at Entertainment Weekly

Survivor’s Lisa Whelchel Has West Nile Virus, Says She’s “Expecting a Full Recovery” – It’s a good thing Lisa Whelchel is a survivor. The Survivor: Philippines contestant has West Nile virus, she revealed on Twitter Tuesday. “I’m fine, just tired,” the Facts of Life alum wrote. “Takes a year to recover. :(” Fortunately, the newly single 49-year-old actress said that she’s “expecting a full recovery.” – Read more at E News

Just noticed this op-ed by Elliott in the Richmond Times-Dispatch a couple of weeks ago. Advocating for continued diabetes research funding.

Noticed that the tickets have really started to move for Phillip’s Stage It concert.  Only 500 or so left.  Wanted to contribute so I bought a ticket…never done it before so can somebody explain the whole ‘tipping with notes’ concept & when you sign in does the concert just show up on the screen or do you have to do something to see the concert?

For Scotty fans, the Billboard Country Midweek Update has an interview with his manager Todd Cassetty on page 4. Naturally Scotty’s name comes up.

? Why did you want Scotty McCreery as your first client?

I’ve had the pleasure of working with him for about a year-and-a-half now in varying capacities through my other business ventures and have just really gotten to know him not just as a person—because he’s just a good, good guy—but also from a professional standpoint, seeing the fan reaction to him and his growth as a performer onstage, and I just think he’s firing on all cylinders. There’s so much opportunity out there for him, it’s exciting. I’ve been telling people, “A lot of times you stay up late worrying about things that are negative.” I stay up late worrying about all the things that we can do for Scotty, and it’s exciting and just energizing to work with such a talented young man.

? What’s it like trying to map out a career for someone who still has to take midterms?

It’s a challenge, but a worthwhile challenge. He wants to keep one foot in the country music world and one foot in some semblance of a normal existence, and so far it’s worked well. You can do anything. You’ve just got to be creative.

Heejun has been in Korea. He posted on facebook that he has signed with Polaris to do an album that will be sold in Asia and the US.

He also said earlier that he’d lost his iPhone and couldn’t access twitter because he forgot his password. :)

  • Lexie O’Neill

Wow—how great to have a manager who stays up late worrying about all the things he can do for you… :))

  • standtotheright

never done it before so can somebody explain the whole ‘tipping with notes’ concept & when you sign in does the concert just show up on the screen or do you have to do something to see the concert?

You can buy notes and leave them in your account rather than usuing them toward SI tickets. When the show is in progress, there will be a link to a Tip Jar and you can add notes to that. I actually can’t remember if I had to click an additional link to get to my recent shows, but “featured shows” are on the homepage. Given the Sandy tie in and P2’s notoriety, I’m sure the link will be prominently displayed.

thank you….pretty much a novice at this stuff! lol!

I like that the “rewards” for the top tippers are so low key. It makes the whole fundraiser more believable, and you know the money won’t be uselessly spent on those rewards.

  • Le Viet Anh Nghi

Don’t know where I can post this, but it’s worth taking a closer look at Nicki & American Idol.

    On Mariah: “we’ve been FINE”

  • ptebwwong

Don’t know if it’s fact or not. But since Keith has been a judge on The Voice Australia & now Idol it seems he’s saying that at least the audition stages give more personal time for the judges on Idol than The Voice Australia.

It seems as if he’s open to coming back for another season even with his busy touring schedule & music career. I think one of the new judges needs to be back for another season to have someone consistency on the panel. Randy doesn’t count.

  • curly_yenta

Even tho he is a roots soul singer, according to the PopDust website, the Top 18 Most Eligible Pop Stars includes Taylor Hicks at #16!

“Madame Swiftie is just the OTHER Taylor, as far as this American Idol winner is concerned. You know you want to be rocked to sleep with tales of what Simon Cowell is really like. Plus, the silver fox needs someone to console him after the Mitt Romney loss.”

  • durbesque

Glad to hear tickets are moving.  When the 500 are sold, they will issue another bloc.  I just have to remember to get there at 6 pm.

American Idol’ on the Charts: Phillip Phillips Earns His Fifth No. 1 in Almost Record Time

  • OffLeash

iTunes genre charts don’t give a reliable idea of the sales. Unless Live Pop Bars is messed up again, WWCF is #1485 on the iTunes single chart, which means low sales for now.

  • Anny_nanny

I know low sales. I’m surprised to see this song on the chart. Why? I do not understand anything in this system.

A huge concert for hurricane relief is being planned at MSG:

ALL-STAR STORM RELIEF: AP reports that Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jon Bon Jovi, Kanye West and other huge stars will perform a Dec. 12 benefit for Sandy relief at Madison Square Garden. Among the other scheduled players at the “12-12-12″ event, as it’s being billed: Billy Joel, The Who, Alicia Keys and Roger Waters. Ticket sales will help the Robin Hood Relief Fund for those affected by the storm in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The event is presented by Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, MSG and The Weinstein Group,
the same contingent that orchestrated NBC’s similarly star-fueled Sandy
benefit earlier this month; information about ticket sales, VIP offers
and TV broadcast is promised in the near future. In the meantime, you Twitter folk can spread the word using the hashtag “#121212concert.”(11/15p)

  • curly_yenta

Taylor Hicks will be on the Jeff Probst show tomorrow, CBS network – Nov. 16.

  • OffLeash

You don’t need to sell a lot to chart on the Rock Digital Songs. That’s why I always check the overall singles chart to get an idea of the sales.

  • Eilonwy

I know low sales. I’m surprised to see this song on the chart. Why? I do not understand anything in this system.

There’s a very, very steep drop in sales throughout the Rock Digital Songs chart. The top few songs on the RDS chart also placed fairly high in the Hot 100. However, #15 on the RDS chart (from Imagine Dragons) is #83 on the Hot 100. Big difference!

I can’t find #16 on the Hot 100 at all or even on Heatseekers (where the #1 Christian Digital Song is #18 Heatseekers, and we know that in other weeks, Colton Dixon was able to get #1 on CDS with 23k and 16k sales, neither of which broke the Hot 100). I might be skimming too fast on Heatseekers, but the gist is that #21 on Rock Digital Songs could easily involve sales of less than 10,000.

(Points to whoever can get a better numeric fix — I’m sure it’s possible but got tired of rummaging through other sites, where there weren’t enough photos of Psy in blue satin.)

  • SaSa8

Thanks for posting the interview from Billboard.  Looks like Scotty found a great manager.  What I read in another post was his manager saying that he’s just been waiting for the perfect opportunity and the inspiration to take the plunge and go into management and Scotty McCreery was definitely what made him decide to do it.

One Direction is performing on the Ellen show outside and it looks there are thousands of screaming, hysterical teenaged girls in the audience. lol

One Direction’s appearance on Ellen’s show was taped last Friday. Boys are back in the UK.

Todrick Hall just won an LA Ovation Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Hairspray. He beat out Terrance Spencer, well known and loved dancer, friend of Adam Lambert’s. Friend of Glamnation as Adam’s dancer.

Good for Todrick. He’s incredible and deserves to be more well known!

Phil’s Stageit show was pretty fantastic. Phil’s smiles and interaction with the kids of PS22 were just a wonderful thing. Phil’s voice was in top form and hearing two of the new songs from the album was a real treat. I can hardly wait to get my hands on that CD come Monday!
