Heavy D recorded new song with Birmingham’s Ruben Studdard (video)
Hip hop star Heavy D, who died Tuesday, recorded a new song with Birmingham’s Ruben Studdard about a month ago in Atlanta.
Studdard and Heavy D collaborated on the mid-tempo song, “Sexy Mother,” which will be featured on Studdard’s fifth CD, set to be released in March.
“I’ve always been a fan of his. I grew up listening to his music,” said Studdard, 33.

Josh Gracin says music biz is tougher than you think
The release of Josh Gracin’s latest CD was pushed back a week but that didn’t bother the country singer.
“When you’ve spent a year writing the songs and another three months recording them, what’s a week?” he asks.
The business has changed so drastically a release date hardly has the impact it once did, he explains. Thanks to social media and the Internet, consumers want product, not a “pile of songs.”

Kellie Pickler, Casey James Support Musicians on Call
Kellie Pickler and country newcomer Casey James have joined forces with Nashville-based radio station WSIX for the fourth annual Musicians on Call event. The ‘American Idol’ vets will perform at the charity concert, scheduled for Nov. 14 at Nashville’s Hard Rock Cafe.
The goodwill campaign was established as a way to bring live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. Since 1999, Musicians on Call has performed for more than 250,000 patients.

Idol Singer to Donate to Brent Long Foundation
Former American Idol Finalist Bucky Covington is going to make a donation to the Brent Long Foundation. Covington is scheduled to be a part of the Terre Haute Veteran’s Day Parade by riding in a Fire Department truck. Covington will be presenting the check to the foundation shortly after the parade.

I don’t want to see Paula like that. I know she’s a professional but I am too and my job is to get an answer from her. And if I can’t get an answer, then she abstains, and I move on. That’s the way that the show works.
