Lauren Alaina Ready to Jump Into the Driver’s Seat

Lauren Alaina is in her Rossville, Ga., hometown today (Nov. 1), and she’s got big plans: Today is the day she takes her road test for a driver’s license.

Alaina won a brand-new, 550-horsepower convertible Ford Mustang Shelby GT as the runner-up on ‘American Idol.’ But since she picked it up from a dealer in her hometown last month, she hasn’t logged many miles in it — and won’t today, either.

“I am more nervous about it that than I was when I auditioned for ‘American Idol,’” Alaina, laughing, tells Taste of Country of the road test. “I am going to take my mom’s Kia [for the test]. I am not driving my Mustang!”

James Durbin Had To Postpone Recording His First Single [AUDIO]

“We actually had to postpone the recording, because my voice gave out. My producer wouldn’t let me record the song. So, that was pretty funny, I’m like ‘Come on man, I can do this song, I swear,’ he said, ‘No You’ve had enough, man.’”

Daughtry fans…are you ready for this? November 21st marks a big day for you. It’s coming up fast, and pretty soon you’ll have ”Break The Spell” in your hands. Lead singer Chris Daughtry called into the Fox All Access studios to give us the scoop on the new album and what fans can look forward to. As Chris put it, there are songs on the album that have the “typical Daughtry fashion,” or what you would expect to hear from them but he says there’s a lot on the album that goes way beyond what the band has done before, musically and perhaps vocally. We asked Chris to describe what this new album means to them at this point of the band’s life.

‘Dancing with the Stars’: Did the show get back at angry Maks?

One week after Maksim Chmerkovskiy challenged Judge Len Goodman on Dancing with the Stars, the ABC show seemed to have the last word on the popular (though often controversial) pro. Two of the rehearsal packages during Monday’s show were edited to make Chmerkovskiy look like an unyielding and very impatient instructor who’s reduced to striking partner Hope Solo in an effort to make a point.

To wit: While Chmerkovskiy and Solo were practicing with Team Paso Doble, the Ukrainian-American pro slapped the soccer player on the shoulders before frantically whipping her around. An exasperated Solo responded by saying, “would you stop being you?”

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Hope Solo Defend Awkward ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Moment

On the heels of his heated dismissal of the judges’ critiques, Monday’s performance show included a clip from a group rehearsal in which Maks got aggressive with partner Hope Solo — at one point appearing to push her in the shoulder. He was then shown exiting the room, leaving their fellow dancers looking uncomfortable.

Hope says she has no problem with Maks’ teaching style.

“Obviously it’s working,” she said backstage. “We’re here for the 7th week. We’re getting OK scores. You wouldn’t want to see me if he wasn’t tough on me.”

‘Glee’s’ New Villain Grant Gustin Spills Secrets About Character (Q&A)

“I kind of feel guilty that this is what’s happening,” laughs Grant Gustin, Glee’s newest hire, on the phone from L.A. He’s referring to his charmed existence over the past few years that led from his sophomore year of college to a national Broadway tour and into the arms of one of TV’s most beloved shows. Until being cast as Sebastian, the new “gay villain” appearing soon on this Glee season, the 21-year-old had never been on a TV or film set before. On his first-ever Broadway audition in New York during a college spring break he landed Baby John in the first national touring cast of West Side Story. It would probably be wise for him to buy a lotto ticket or two with his current luck.
