Sick of Cloris’ shtick

It’s not merely that everyone there is astonished the 82-year-old Chicago native has survived in the competition this long — it’s her over-the-top brassiness and in-your-face humor that has everyone upset.

”We thought it would be fun to have Cloris on … and expected her to maybe make it through one or two weeks. But now it’s gone from people being amused — similar to the way it was with Jerry Springer — to being downright concerned, ” said a staffer who has been with ”Dancing With the Stars” since the beginning.

This source said “Dancing” competitor Susan Lucci is “fit to be tied. She is working so hard and is outraged that others have been eliminated who are far better than Cloris. It’s all about her obnoxious schtick. … There are deep concerns that people are going to tune out, thinking this has become a big joke and not the serious though entertaining dance competition it’s supposed to be.

David Cook Crafts Heaviest “American Idol” Album Yet

“During the show, I enjoyed messing with people’s expectations, ” says David Cook. “The show, ” of course, is American Idol; in May, Cook was the winner of its seventh season. “I’m not trying to surprise people now: I’m putting out a rock record. I just want the songs to kick you in the teeth or make you want to cry ‘ or do something drastic, like jump off a building. I want somebody to be exhausted when they’re done listening.”

Cook wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on the record, drawing on both recent collaborations with songwriting pros and tunes he wrote in his pre-Idol bartending days. (His old guitarist actually plays on the album.) A preview of eight tracks suggests that listeners can expect radio-ready anthems like the sweeping, U2-esque “Come Back to Me, ” some aggro rockers like “Bar Bi Sol” and plenty of the soaring voice that the AI judges loved. “There’s a million different ways to write a song, ” says Cook. “This is a brand-new game for me: I’m 25 years old, going on infancy.”

She spent about six months house hunting online while she was on the American Idol tour. Her schedule hasn’t allowed for much of an in-person property search.

Carrie Underwood: No Feud with Jessica Simpson

Talking about the life-like replica of herself, Underwood said: “Honestly, it looks so good, it’s almost kind of creepy looking at myself.”

When asked by reporters about Simpson, who is dating Underwood’s ex-boyfriend Tony Romo, the country star brushed off rumors of a feud.

“I met her once and she seemed really nice so I don’t have a feud with anybody, ” said Underwood, who then commented on Simpson’s recent crossover to country music.

Underwood sees new wax figure of herself in NY

The wax figure depicts Underwood standing with her hands on her hips and wearing a short, sparkly pink dress, which she wore to the 2006 Country Music Association Awards show. Underwood received her first CMA female vocalist of the year award that year, and picked it up again in 2007.

Underwood donated a replica of the dress to Madame Tussauds. A team of wax artists worked on the Underwood likeness earlier this year after she modeled for it.

“It was mainly just a couple of people met us out on the road and like did a lot of measurements, a lot of picture taking, ” she told The Oklahoman. “I had to stand still for a long time while they did their thing.”

The Sweet Life of Jane Knoll

Michael Johns, after being voted off too early on in this season of Idol, made an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show and that quickly struck a chord with Knoll. …He happened to show his Ellen underwear band, saying that not everyone wore them but he obviously did. It was funny and he was adorable. I just had this …cake moment thing. I knew I wanted to put that into a cake.

And she did. Creating a large sheet cake with multiple layers and carving into his backside (…the jeans, of course) with his t-shirt pulled up a bit, so that the Ellen underwear band was visible. She put, Michael Johns Rocks with Soul on the t-shirt and his most popular fansite, Michael Johns Online. It was unfortunate though that Michael never had the chance to eat it but she posted photos of it on the fansite, immediately getting much attention from members and making Knoll a favourite and a friend amongst many on the site message boards.

Happy Birthday Amanda Overmyer

Amanda Overmyer will undoubtedly go down in AI history as one of the most memorable Idols to grace the stage. Dubbed the Rock N’ Roll nurse by Randy Jackson, Amanda became known as the Harley-riding rocker that wasn’t about to conform to anyone’s standards–even the judge most live to impress, Simon Cowell. Her raspy voice and intense stage presence quickly earned her a lot of Janis Joplin comparisons.

Jonas Brothers on the Carousel

Like the rest of America, Hollywood divides over politics but comes together over human need — that’s the sentiment that has made philanthropist Barbara Davis’ “Carousel of Hope” the town’s biggest biannual charity event. Davis, regarded as the industry’s grande dame of fundraising, created the event 30 years ago after her own daughter’s diabetes diagnosis made her aware that there was a critical need for funding to combat the disease. Since then, the event (which has raised $75 million over the years) has become Hollywood’s must-attend occasion, bringing together celebrities and executives of every generation and political persuasion. Diabetes doesn’t check anybody’s party registration.

The event this Saturday — which also includes performances by Josh Groban, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Katharine McPhee — is sold out. Dozens of celebrities are expected to attend the gala, which will be held at the Beverly Hilton. Pauletta and Denzel Washington will be honored for their work on behalf of children’s issues.

Examining Rehab 2 With Dr. Drew – Episode 1

What about Nikki?

She awesome. She sort of our Jessica this year. She is very sick, a severe addict and alcoholic. She got lots of heavy trauma that comes out in treatment. But God bless her, she really throws herself into the treatment process. She lights up the groups everyday. I heard some very inspiring things about her just today, in fact. She did this Us magazine interview and it was very evocative for her emotionally and in response to that, she gone to more meetings. That exactly what she should do. How great.

Robin Gibb Blasts Simon Cowell-Produced Talent Show

The Bee Gees’Robin Gibb has slammed the Simon Cowell-produced British talent show The X Factor, blasting the show’s creators for creating “puppet-like” artists. The show, which is similar to our own American Idol, features young hopefuls working their way up to a recording contract and national celebrity.

Gibb, who has been a working performer since his grade school days, spoke harshly of the hit program, telling London’s Daily Mail, “I don’t like how these people are chosen almost from nowhere. I don’t believe that many of them really yearned to get into a life of music, more that they want fame. The ones that win are told what to sing, how to dress, how to behave. They are over-styled ‘puppets.’They aren’t musicians, they are simply a product. It is a glorified advert.”

Gabe Garcia: Making his Mark

NASHVILLE ‘ With a pick in his lips and a guitar in his lap, Gabe Garcia leaned toward the table to type a few lines on his laptop computer.

As part of a new generation of artists and songwriters making its mark in the Music City, Garcia is bringing inspiration from a modern marvel to some of country music tried and true themes ‘ such as drinking songs.

Garcia, the Lytle native who placed second on …Nashville Star in August, was sitting down to a songwriting session with country star Rhett Akins and Bart Butler, a music publisher and songwriter from Hondo with such credits as Kevin Fowler …Loose, Loud & Crazy and …Cheaper to Keep Her.

Since …Nashville Star ended, Garcia has been chomping at the bit to begin recording his next album, sign with a record label and start touring after the NBC talent competition kick-started his career on a national scale.

But standing in the way were contractual obligations with the show and Warner Bros. Records in California, which was obliged to sign a deal with winner Melissa Lawson of Arlington and had a 90-day right of first refusal with Garcia and the third and fourth runners-up ‘ Shawn Mayer of May City, Iowa, and Coffey Anderson of Bangs, in Central Texas.
