“There are casting calls listed in some of the trade magazines here in Hollywood today for David [Cook]‘s video. When Isham directs, his projects make the trades! This is just as good a piece of news as when we found out Cavallo was producing the album. I have to find more about the casting calls, but the shoots are overnight for a couple of days this week. Guess it needs to be really dark so you can see the “Light On!”

It’s described as “American Graffiti meets Dazed and Confused.”

That’s quite a variety of characters they are looking for in Cook’s video. This should be interesting.

I can’t believe those going rates for the video shoot…slave wages!!! Isn’t there a union for people who “act” in viideos?

Katharine’s new song from the Tinker Bell CD, Let Your Heart Sing, for Disney is up on Amazon and iTunes today!

As I’m sure you will guess I love it! Great vocals and wonderfully produced. Katharine and Disney is a great match!

This makes me even more excited for the new CD in the spring!

Okay, Cardiac at the David Cook Livejournal Community is the one auditioning for a part in the video. That is who supplied the casting information.

I’m not shocked that Simon makes a boatload, but I am offended that Paula rakes in $5-8 mil for acting like a bumbling drunk on the show! If I were her, I’d keep my mouth shut and not draw attention to myself, especially now that they’ve added a new (I assume coherent) judge to the mix. Though, I will say that I’m not ready to see Paula go, cuz even though I consider her “judging” comments throwaways, she does make for some good TV moments. And Randy’s even more useless, IMO.

REALITY show judges often make news (think Paula Abdul or Simon Cowell, for starters).

Now, they’re going to be honored for their efforts.

The Emmys will create a separate category for reality show judges for the first time in its history, according to a TV Academy spokesman.

This follows on the heels of the Emmys honoring reality show hosts for the first time this year (“Survivor’s” Jeff Probst won the first Emmy in this category).

And, of course, the TV Academy began conferring Emmy statuettes on the reality shows themselves a few years back.

There’s certainly no end to the list of reality-show judges the Academy can choose from, but it’s not clear, at this point, what criteria will be used to determine the nominees.

There’s also no word on when this will be put in place.

One thing that apparently won’t happen, though, is amending the Emmy rules to include a category for reality show contestants.

“We don’t want to turn into ‘Survivor’!,” TV Academy chairman John Shaffner told TV Guide Canada.

Oh gosh, Simon is going to win an Emmy! LOL!

OMG! I am so excited! I just read at a local board that MJ might be coming to Manila sometime in November or December to do what I think will be the same kind of (mall) tour Elliott and Taylor did here last year. Yay!

Haha, good call, cuz that would most definitely devolve into a popularity contest, which the Emmy’s claim not to be. I mean, contestants are supposed to be “themselves” and not acting on reality shows (though that’s mostly untrue), so if the award can’t be based on an “ability” like acting, judging hosting, producing, writing, etc., there’s nothing left but silliness like who’s the most “interesting” character.

Gotta say, I’m not liking the concept of the LO video– at least from the vague description provided. To maximally pump up sales (and for the moment, the song still appears to be languishing even though we’ve hit the impact dates) I think it should have a concept that jibes with the lyrics. In other words– a heart-rending depiction of a relationship or relationships where one person “has to leave”. Hell, I’m even down with a borderline exploitative working of the military spouses angle. But, what is being described sounds like simple kitsch to me.

I agree with you there. But what about the description convinces you that it’s not something like that/”simple kitsch”?

I can’t figure anything out about the plot just based on the description of the actors. But I get the feeling there might be a couple of different stories being told. There could easily be a “having to leave” theme even with the casting of a mom role in there too.

From the casting call, I could go for a storyline about a guy (perhaps Mr. Cook) singing somewhere (performance video) and hanging with others on the road while thinking of home and maybe the younger version of himself (cute leading actor boy, 18-22) with the girl of his heart (cute leading actor girl, 18-22) and how he had to leave her behind. Don’t know how the punks and skaters and Multi-Ethnic Football Guy fit in, but that part reminded me of Paula in her poodle skirt, so I’m imagining him as young Keanu. Rush, Rush, Woo, Woo!

I had always thought about firemen and policemen and soldiers with regard to the song and video before, but it’s kind of icky if DC has to pretend to be a fireman or a soldier and I think he knows that. For the first video, maybe they’re more comfortable with David playing himself in performance bits, while somebody else carries the plot. If there is a plot.

I wonder if there if there isn’t some scheme going on to force out Paula without actually firing her (or at least to create circumstances that would force her to react in such a way that would merit termination…)

I know that Nigel left Idol, and apparently he and Simon aren’t always on the best of terms, but I find it hard to believe that he would release that information without Simon’s blessing.

Anyone else think that?

I think both Paula and Simon make way too much money. Everything is so out-of-proportion these days. Some people make way too much money for doing not much of anything, and others work multiple jobs just to scrape by.

Both songs are are quite good. Both are very catchy and both have substantial and well thought-out lyrics. At the end of the survey, it asks you which song you prefer. Since the two titles are very similar and the style of song is quite similar in both, I have a feeling that this is Jive’s way of figuring out which of these two songs to put on the album.

oh i really hope they’re both on the album! i really really like both of them! I love the piano that comes in partway through in “touch my hands”. i heard he wrote this one, too!

I really hope Archie’s album is better than those two songs. I really need a ballad. Why do they over-process his voice like that???

I just finished the first listening. I love both songs. I cannot pick one of them. I can see very different side of David. He has much deeper and mature voice than I thought. I have to listen couple of times and will decide. I’m very exciting to hear all his songs!! Good job David!! :clap_tb: :clap_tb:

The lyrics almost sound like he wrote them. I like the song. Very similiar to the stuff on Jordin’s album but I think he’ll sell more albums.

The cover is okay. Just very glum and he looks like a serial killer. This better be a terrific album because the contrast between the album cover and cheesy American Idol is kind of stark. All will be forgiven if it’s a good album but snark city if it isn’t.

Actually, the capitalization on “A Daily AntheM”, spells Adam.

Eh, the cover art isn’t that extreme. (Now that first Mediabase ad…that was “serial killer”!) If anything I’d complain it’s a bit bland, but the red helps a lot with that.

I do agree I wish the guys didn’t have to look so serious all the time. Even sweet little Archie has to glare at you from his cover. Actually, he’s rockin’ the red too.

I am not loving the album cover. But, at least it’s not a floating head in a sea of purple.
