At WXLC-FM 102.3 in Lake County, north of Chicago, the format is the sort of adult Top 40, known in the industry as “Hot AC” or “Modern AC.”

The difference, says program director Haynes Johns, is that his station targets people 21 and older, while pure Top 40 radio includes teenagers as well.

“My analogy would be, ‘It’s like an amoeba,’ ” Johns says. “It’s always changing depending on the product that’s out there.”

By skewing more to adults, the station has more options to pick and choose from, but he says positive music is doing particularly well these days.

The theories on what the covers could be are tantalizing (especially from Q3, love your combination fact-finding/logical conclusion theories), but as far as I know those rumors originated at the anonymous datalounge forum. And they haven’t been ‘confirmed’  (well, as confirmed as anything on the internet ever gets) by a separate source either.

I’m not saying it couldn’t be true, but it’s far from reliable.

I heard a little bit of Light On, when they were going to commercial, on Regis and Kelly this morning.

I have a feeling these two covers might be Elle and Out for their Out 100 issue (or whatever it’s called, somebody tweeted about him being at that photoshoot). Or maybe even RollingStone number 2? His issue sold out and I think that U2 has now gotten 2 covers in a year (someone correct me if I’m wrong). Also there was that long 12 hour photoshoot he did for’ ¦’ ¦.something? The boy does a lot of photoshoots’ ¦

Regarding the two covers — the report/rumor is that there two reporters at the 2012 music video. Although Adam is in this year’s Out 100, and may get the cover, he did that shoot a couple of months ago, and I don’t think they would cover the 2012 music video shoot.

Elle is also shot and done (per Elle’s production schedule) so I think it is not Elle — even if they put him on the cover which I doubt because the spread includes Kris, Adam and Alli.

I agree with you on Rolling Stone. Adam flew on a private jet back to LA for a very long photoshoot end of August (flew out of KC 8/30; shoot 8/31) — Rolling Stone usually does photo shoots in Southern California and I can’t figure out what else this could have been for. And Rolling Stone would cover a music video shoot. (There isn’t another mag HQ in the West that covers music that makes sense for this shoot.)

And total speculation on my part but I bet the the second cover is an entertainment/celebrity magazine — People, US, EW, etc.

The only time I really was annoyed with him was when he dissed Adam’s “Ring of Fire”. The performance actually freaked me out, but I thought Simon was RUDE!!!!

I love Simon’s candor. Just don’t pick on Adam!!!!
