‘American Idol’ stars anything but idle

The American Idol judges and host continued to make their rounds about town last week. Over the weekend, Ryan Seacrest, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell — again, no Paula Abdul — sat at one big table at Prime One Twelve, where, according to our steak-source, ”Simon was getting so harassed by fans they had to move their table outside.” The gang, sans Abdul, also had dinner Tuesday night at Blue Door at the Delano, where they remained for Alan Roth and Tommy Pooch’s Tuesday night party. From there, they all headed to Mokai, where they lounged with owner Nicola Siervo. On Wednesday, Seacrest and Jackson dined at Quattro.

American Idol Judges in Omaha

Omaha, Ne – Simon, Paula, and Randy made a trip to Omaha Friday to vote on who they think should be the next American Idol. The judges from the hit show interviewed dozens of pop star hopefuls who made the final cut in the Omaha auditions, including 23-year-old Ross Koley.

Ross waits tables at Prestige World Class in West Omaha, but wants to make a career out of singing. So a few months ago, the 23-year-old decided to audition for American Idol. He says the first day of auditions was intimidating. “There was something like 12,000 people there and I almost left,” Ross recalls.

It’s a good thing he decided to stay. After two rounds of auditions, Ross says he’s one of only 30 people in Omaha who got to audition with judges Simon, Randy, and Paula Friday. But did he make the cut? “If you watch the show in January you’ll get to see everything that happens,” he said.

Ross can’t say a word about the show and his experience because he signed a secrecy contract with American Idol producers. Whatever the outcome, the singer hopes the show takes his vocal cords to a new level. “Hopefully locally it will open some doors for me in the career I’m trying to make,” he said.

Carrie Underwoodà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s 2nd Album Released

Carnival Ride is the title for American Idol winner Carrie Underwood’s sophomore record, which is coming out in stores on the 23rd of this month.

Her first disc, 2005′s Some Hearts, was the fast-selling debut in the country genre ever and chances are good that Underwood’s upcoming record will be quite successful as well, with the first single, “So Small”, already a Top 10 hit.

Carnival Ride was produced by Mark Bright and recorded in Nashville. It contains 13 songs and will be released by Arista Nashville, a subsidiary of Song BMG that operates under the RCA Records Group.

Underwood recently shot the video for the song “Ever After”, which will appear on the soundtrack to the Disney movie, Enchanted, out in theatres next month.

    So I open my iTunes up and glance through all the new shit thats out there in the hopes that I might find something that gives me goosebumps and/or, makes me cry. (I like to cry….long story). Anyhow I come across this alternate version of an old song called “Ooh Child” by someone called Beth Orton. OMG its fantastic but then I always loved the original.

    So under “Just For You” in iTunes they saw that I had purchased Taylor’s crappy Heart Full of Soul and so they tell me that since I liked that so much perhaps Id also like to buy “All The Lost Souls” by James (gag me) Blunt.

    One is a book and one is a CD. I know one sucked donkey balls bigtime and the other I havent heard anything about….YET. Im sure someone will fill me in on the CD.

    I saw an ad for Paul Potts during Oprah’s show yesterday.Wow – The best Taylor fan has returned. Kudos for not genuflecting before Taylor’s album when it first came out when others were booking hotels for the Grammy’s etc. It’s so hard in the Idol world to be honest and not get defensive about the Idols we like.

    I really like Kelly’s song “Sober.” It’s just a shame it wasn’t the first single instead of Never Again.

    I have the Potts vid from the British Idol thingy bookmarked myself and yes, its very moving. Not an opera fan though I did cry when pavarotti died and I listened to his signature Nussen Dorma. Whoaaaaaa, now there was a magical moment.

    Jpfan, not sure Im the best taylor fan or even close and though I dissed his CD initially, remember it was me who said prior to its release that it would shatter all CD sales and sell like a zillion copies. WTF kind of drugs was I on?

    I love Never Again by Clarkson as well as Sober. I just think she is one of the most truly gifted singers.

    I buried the bunnies in the backyard near the carrot patch. They had seen better days and I gave the bunny slippers that I had bought for the Taylor concert in Boston (which I never went to) away to my neighbor’s daughter. The batcave however is alive and well (just doing some Fall cleaning and getting it ready for the Winter) as is the decoder ring.

    Sanjaya makes my heart go pitter patter. Mostly pitter. He’s so damn cheesy that he’s adorable and no one should have that great a head of hair especially not a man child. Coughs….the boy has some awesome hip movement ala Tom Jones.

    As for Springsteen, I LOVE his new CD. He really makes a statement with this one.

    Dingo–HELLO! You are correct, correct, correct…Kelly Clarkson is unbelieveable! Now–if you REALLY want to hear the “real” Kelly–do yourself a favor and go to one of her live concerts! The 8th Wonder of the World! I have been every year since she won. She is a rock star!

    She reminds me SO MUCH of Janis Joplin. Not in her voice but her presentation. She is just all about the music. The last concert…she came out in gray pants thate were at least TWO FEET too long–seriously! She simply rolled them up to mid-thigh height and put huge safety pins in them! She wears almost no make-up or jewelry. White tank top and this time she didn’t even bother to wear shoes. (Usually takes them off when she hits the stage!)

    I am assuming you have her CD???? If Irvine doesn’t bring tears you have a thumping gizzard!

    Sell your body on the street corner if you have to, but get a ticket to her upcoming concert. I always get premium tickets to concerts. If I can’t see the nose hairs, I’d rather not go!

    And I love Taylor as much today as I did yesterday! The man got the shaft, thank you Clive/TPTB! What a pity you never saw him live.

    Totally agree. I know a lot of Clay fans always hated 19 and thought Clay would have been better off without them, but that boys career is a mess and IMO isn’t any worse than it was with Simon Fuller in the picture. Anytime I even hear anything about him it’s always some type of controversy or his name is used for a punchline. It’s a shame because I always thought he had one of the best voices and personalities to come out of AI.

    I see that I missed Dingo and JJ. Hope y’all are doing well, and JJ, hope the guitar lessons paid off. I would imagine that you’re rippin’ power chords with ease by now…:)

    Taylor isn’t exactly the master of articulation in interviews, but he has penned some good lyrics in the past so I’m looking forward to his next album.

    On the RIAA victory, hopefully they won’t make the defendant pay the full $222,000 in damages. I don’t understand why they don’t just encode CD’s so they can’t be ripped, thus avoiding these time consuming lawsuits against the little guy.

    My questions about Taylor’s “platinum” comment were not meant to imply anything hegative. I merely was trying to clarify his comment. Being a single mom with two young kids and a pretty demanding job, I have a very busy life and can’t always remember things that were posted here months ago. So if I offended any of you, I’m sorry. I was trying to discuss – not accuse. Apparently some here thought I was calling Taylor a liar. I guess I need to just stick to commenting on what I know and not asking questions if the expectation is that you’re supposed to retain everything that’s posted here. Again, if I offended anyone, I apologize.
