    How in the HELL did you find this?????? I (finally) remembered the name last night. I remembered the last name–Potter–but struggled with the first. What is SO SAD is my first name is “Chris”. Duh!

    ‘American Idol’ winner’s tour stop will close out Bloomsburg Fair

    BLOOMSBURG – When George W. Bush was elected president in 2004, he garnered about 62 million votes. When Taylor Hicks won the fifth edition of “American Idol,” the soulman garnered 63.4 million votes.

    On Friday at 7:30 p.m., the 30-year-old Birmingham, Ala., native will help bring the Bloomsburg Fair to a close while providing a few of those fans that voted for him an opportunity to see the “Soul Patrol” in person.

    “We’re going to have a great time. This is a very high energy show infused with a lot of music,” he said.

    High energy is a good word to describe the soulful crooner. Since his win on “American Idol,” Mr. Hicks has regularly appeared on TV, has released two best-selling CDs and has started a tour that will take him across the U.S. Unlike some performers, Mr. Hicks controls the stage and works it from one end to the other as if the music he is performing fuels his body and its ability to express the music.

    “The stage is where I belong. I just get such a thrill from the fans,” he said. “We get people of all ages (to) turn out for our shows, from 7 to 70. It’s a very musical and entertaining show.”

    Heard Tattoo on the radio this morning. It sounded good to me, almost had a Beyonce sound to it. Jordin’s voice is just much better suited to Top 40 radio that Kat’s. I think Tattoo will become a hit. How big? Tough to say but def Top 20.

    The Manchester NH radio station that I listen to on my commute(WZID 95.7) chatted this morning with a staffer who was at one of this weekend’s shows, and backstage afterwards.

    Her comments:

    This gang was more of an ensemble than Season 5.
    Gina was especially emotional about being at the last show.

    The idols were more into being with each other and their family after the show than with the fans at the Meet n greet.

    The regular morning radio guy is trying to confirm whether or not an “unsigned email” he got is true, that Blake’s dad basically sat on his hands during Jordin’s numbers.

    He also wanted to confirm whether Tony Orlando and Daughter were there, but MJ’s confirmed that days ago!

    I didn’t see Gina at the meet and greet I attended, but from the audience, yeah she was very emotional. She hasn’t been signed yet, so I would imagine facing the future is a lot scarier for than it is for say, Phil, Sligh or Lakisha who seem to have immediate plans after the tour is over.

    At my meet and greet, Sanjaya had his own reception with his fans in another room. In my room, the Idols who were there were stationed all over the place and were kept extremely busy talking and taking pictures with fans. So, I would say no, that wasn’t true. At least not at my m&g. Even the parents and wives either stood off to the side or talked and chatted with fans, rather than the Idols.

    ETA: The staffer may have been at Saturday night’s meet and greet, which, from what I hear was a bit of a mob scene. The friends I was with attended that m&g and it was hard to get close to some of the idols that night, particularly Blake who was tired and apparently in a bit of a bad mood…

    It’s mostly Jordin, but he has her almost cracking up at one point with some sound effects.

    I really like Jordin doing this type of song. I hope she gets some similar material for her album.

    Boulder I have the funniest (and disturbing) story for you.

    I was driving home today, stuck in traffic and barely moving as usual, with the windows down and Paul Potts blasting out of my stereo, at a volume Nevada would NOT approve of, and was distracted by a high pitched and very loud sound. I glanced to my left and there were two young girls around *cough* my age *cough* yelling at me. I turned down the stereo to see what they wanted and they yelled in a very excited manner “IS THAT PAUL POTTS? I LOVE HIM, HE’S HOT”.

    So not kidding.

    His CD “One Chance” is already platinum in Australia, which is awarded for 70,000 of those ubiquitous ‘units’ shipped. The album is currently #6 on the chart dated 09-24-07, down from #2 last week, and it appears to have debuted at #1 and might have spent more than one week in the top spot.

    “Once Chance” definitely debuted at #1 in New Zealand on the chart dated 08-06-07, and initially shipped Gold, which is awarded for 7500 units shipped. It spent 6 weeks at #1, then dropped to #3 in its 7th week of release, and is #8 this week. If memory serves, it went platinum (15000) in its 2nd week, and 2x platinum (30000) in its 4th week.

    New CD OUT: America’s Next Superstar… produced by PowerMusic featuring the Stars of American Idol.
    Heh, heh… I might just have to buy this for kicks.
    PowerMusic makes CDs used for a variety of fitness/group exercise classes. The songs are not performed by the original artist and they are remixed so that they are in 32 count phrases with set beats per minutes for exercise.
    one of the songs is “Do I Make You Proud” set at 156 BPM (the fastest one on the whole CD) UGH! That’s gotta be painful to hear!
