Multi-platinum country music vocalist Carrie Underwood kicks off new tour in Manchester – Before she was making the headlines, Carrie Underwood was writing them. The reigning queen of country music once dreamed of a career as a journalist, but things changed in college when she decided to audition for a show called “American Idol,” and her life hasn’t been the same since. Underwood won the popular singing show’s fourth season and now, instead of writing stories, she’s writing multi-platinum albums. On Friday, Sept. 14, she will be at the Verizon Wireless Arena in downtown Manchester to kick off her tour to promote her latest compilation, “Blown Away.” – Read more at Union Leader

Country star Carrie Underwood hits the road, aims to leave fans ‘Blown Away’ by latest tour – “I was like is it wrong to hope for a little bit of a walkout?” Underwood joked. “I’m not sure. I’m feeling kind of happy that they’re still in negotiations. Sorry. We got used to being apart when he lived in Ottawa. Before he moved to Nashville we dated that way and our first half-a-year of marriage at least was spent that way. It’s just been so cool. He’s been here a lot.” – Read more at Associated Press

The $1 million saga of Michael Grimm – Michael Grimm is going back to Louisiana, in a lyrical sense, and the singer is baying out the words: “Well it’s three o’clock in the mornin’, ya’ll! Oh, and I’m bidin’ my time! Give me two more, Mr. Waiter! You know I got a whole lot on my mind!” The song is an old Delbert McClinton tune. The audience, which paid a five-spot apiece to see this 90-minute R&B revival, is drinking it up. Heads nod in approval, and most in the seated crowd bounce slightly in their seats. A dozen or so get up to groove near the stage, as if dancing to a vintage Wurlitzer whose volume is jacked up as high as she’ll go. – Read more at Las Vegas Weekly
