Thanks for the info, purplesmile!

I do hope that Elliott gets to relax on the beach for a couple days when he's in the Philippines. He's had such a full schedule!

The article from the Philippines newspaper is nice. I confess to being really ignorant of the Philippines, but is it kind of random for Elliott to be going there? Do a lot of tours hit the Philippines too? Or does Elliott just have a big fan base there?

Hi, janerazor. Thanks. :)

I don't think it is exactly random for Elliott to choose to visit the Philippines. He must have heard a lot of Filipino AI fans rooted for him. In the etrainstation, for instance, most of the moderators are Filipinos and there are also a good number of Filipino members there (the one who actually started etrainstation is in fact a Filipino). Also, one of his best friends from AI is Sway, who is Filipino. In his CD, he thanked the "Zobel Family" and the owners of the big mall chain sponsoring his mini-tour here are the Zobel de Ayalas, who also brought in to the Philippines Constantine Maroulis a couple of years ago, so there might be something to that. Also, the Philippines is generally a big American Idol-watching (and music-loving) country. :)

The Philippines also does like to have foreign artists (many nostalgia acts included) visit for concerts. This year alone, we have had several of them, including Christina Aguilera. I understand other upcoming acts include Fall Out Boy, Switchfoot (?), and Josh Grobin in October.

One other motivation for Elliott's visit, though, I speculate, is that it will give him a chance to go on a (brief) vacation outside of the US. His schedule shows a few free days, at least. He must have heard we have some beautiful beaches here and was offered a pretty good (vacation) package by the sponsors. ;-D

Elliott Yamin is not exactly a household name here (yet :D), but he has gotten very good airplay in the Top 40 stations, despite his CD still being unavailable in the local record stores. The other day, I posted how one big station rated (on-air) his CD "5 out of 5" and "6 out of 5" stars. In the same station, his Wait For You was number one in the weekly countdown for 6 straight weeks (I understand Daughtry's It's Not Over was number one for 5 weeks) and remains in the Top 10 until now. Other stations are also playing his other songs, including One Word, Alright, Movin' On, and You Are The One. In other words, he has a pretty good following here. It is perhaps modest in number as of yet, but the "rabid" ones among us are definitely delighted and will certainly give him a good reception when he comes. (An etrain moderator said Elliott himself has said he is very excited about this visit.) :D

I'm back. I had a blast! Taylor was in great voice, and I have some good snark too (not on Taylor, just on general things).

My seats were great! Front row, but not on the correct side for me to be able to... *ahem* admire Loren all night. :( Anyway, thanks Spense for the tix. I wish you'd been able to come. I wasn't able to find anyone else to go, but it was fine, because I still had fun and enjoyed the show.

Full recap forthcoming. I'll send it to MJ.

Hey, thanks for the Puretone update, Star. Sounds very promising to me. :)

BigNLiddle, thanks for the Jordin tracks. She sounds great. Don't care too much for the songs, though. I like "When the Pain Goes" the best. It has a country vibe. It's still generic, but who knows?

I can hear the chorus of Tattoo if I concentrate. Like a tattoo! It's no earworm, though.

Sarah, have fun at the Taylor concert!

I went to Flavorfest today (Whole Food sponsored event in a park where they give away lots of free food and samples) and they had kids from the School of Rock playing. They were great! It was fun and reminded me how lucky the peeps who make it on Idol really are. :)

ETA: Just to clarify, the local Chicago School of Rock, not the kids from the movie.

Did the Idol concert dates show up last year on Billboard? Are they even obligated to post the concert results?

After following the Idol CDs released this year, it's pretty clear that reviews and sales have no relation to each other. Getting a bad review for your album doesn't mean much unlike movies/books/theatre where it seems to matter.

Any word on concert attendance?

For reasons unknown, none of the Idol concert dates have been reported on Billboard Boxscore. There might be a summary after the tour has ended, but not necessarily.

We might have to wait till the end of the year totals from Boxscore or Pollstar.
