I totally cringed reading the part about Kris’ quartet ruining a wedding. It is so typical of kids that age blowing off rehearsals and then having a public trainwreck. If they were indeed playing the Pachelbel, those parts are relatively easy, but you have to spend lots of quality time practicing as an ensemble – the trick is staying together. The wheels can come off so easily……sounds like that’s what happened. Oy (second hand embarrassment applies here). I wonder if the lady realizes it was Kris who ruined her wedding – many times you have no idea who the quartet musicians are unless you know them personally.
I’d say Kris owes her a private concert at her anniversary party.

Eonline Interviewer: Do you think they (12 year old girls) understand they can’t get with him (Adam) because he’s gay?

Megan: I think some of them actually think they can. It’s so delusional. They don’t care.

I’m sorry, but this was a stupid question. Should girls/women not scream at Kris because he’s married? These gay questions are getting real old real fast. Just let fans be fans. No fan is going to “get” with any artist regardless of their sexuality. Fans scream because they are excited to see someone. Why make it more than that?

On another note, Megan needs to stop getting tatoos if she is seriously considering modeling.

I think Megan’s biggest problem in modeling will not be the tattoos (hello, Photoshop) but how much she resembles Reese Witherspoon.

Love Part 1 of the Ultimate Kris Allen Interview! The only downside is having to wait for Parts 2-4! I do really enjoy hearing about how he got started in music, especially hearing about him playing viola. I hope I someday get to see him play that! It was also pretty poignant reading his answer about his father giving up his music when Kris was born, so he could support the family, especially in light of what Kris has said about how he was ready to give up music and do the same thing after getting married before he tried out for AI.

Exclusive: Kelly Clarkson & Jonas Bros to Guest Judge On ‘Idol’

Speaking of the hit FOX reality show, Pop Tarts has learned that Season One winner Kelly Clarkson and a Jonas Brother will join forces at next week’s audition series as celeb judges to find the next singing sensation.

The move is quite a surprise on Clarkson’s behalf as she has spent the last several years working hard to separate herself from the reality program. But according to a source close to the Clarkson camp, she’s beyond excited to get back to the show that started it all.

Other celeb superstars joining Simon, Randy and Kara for Season 9 include Shania Twain, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham and Mary J Blige.

“At this stage it doesn’t look like Paula will be replaced by one person,” an insider told Tarts. “The celebrity judges are working really well for now.

I feel a bit bad for Megan, I like her but only read her interview because Adam’s name was in the headline. And to find out if they asked her about “the pink dress”. To be fair the the reviewer, Megan was asked about “the guys” and Megan is the one who brought up Adam. From the interview:

I hear the fans for the guys are a lot crazier than the fans for the girls. What’s going on out there?

Yeah, they absolutely are. If we’re outside signing and Adam comes out, I know I’m going to need a hearing aid later in life because the girls scream so loud. I swear 12-year-old girls have the craziest voice boxes in the world.

I love the “Cook comments on Lambert, Allen” article from the Press Democrat. I think David might have a future in politics! He’s possibly the most articulate, polite and considerate past Idol. Really impressive how he consistently manages to support both Kris and Adam (and Archie) without ever letting the reporters trick him into comparing. Very, very impressive. And something that most people haven’t been able to master!!

FYI, for any Michael Johns or Brooke White fans out there, they performed a concert with Elliot Yamin and Carolina Liar on Saturday on Long Island for radio station Fresh 102.7. So glad to see Fred Bronson extend his interviewing talent to Kris Allen. I’m certain Kris fans will be just as excited about the results as the Adam fans have been. Very cool.

This was very entertaining. It’s nice to finally see some different (and interesting) questions. I suppose Fred Bronson’s homework did NOT include googling other peoples’ interviews!! (too often that has seemed the case)

Yeah, the lady whose wedding Kris ruined will probably never realize her claim to fame. (lesson: never try to save a buck by hiring High School boys to do your wedding…unless you are absolutely sure that in 7 years one of them will be famous)

She is beautiful but (aside from her tat) doesn’t have distinct features. She has a lot of other challenges to becoming a successful model — height, proportions, and she’s “old” at 23.

I think she might have a better shot on TV — perhaps the TV Guide channel.

Kelly!!! Awesome! It’s about time!!! Meh…. What does a Jonas Brother know?! They should give the other guest judge spots to the other past Idols like Carrie, Chris, Jordin, Davids, etc.

In fact, Archuleta’s set — a healthy 15 tunes with a tight four-piece band — exceeded my expectations. It was even better than Daughtry’s early solo shows, at least the one that I saw in Muskegon about a year after he was on “Idol.” I’ll get flack for this, but last night’s show was beefier, tighter, and more professional than that dismal night a few years back. I know Daughtry’s improved greatly, but for teenage Archuleta to unwaveringly perform a solid block of 13 original songs, at his age and experience level, is impressive.

(And by the way, I love Daughtry!)

But back to “Archie”: Fun was had by all as he sang practically his entire debut album plus kicked in a few surprises for fun. “Barriers” had the crowd swaying with cell phones (and then no doubt texting madly to pals the second their hands came down). “Your Eyes Don’t Lie” featured the showman puckering up — to whistle his way through the song and ask the audience to whistle along. “You Can” was a spare, lovely melody while “Waiting for Yesterday” (an iTunes bonus track) rocked. Yes, it really rocked. And that’s from someone who voted for David Cook every week.

Wow!! That sure was a glowing review for David A., from a self-professed fan of Daughtry and Cook, no less!

Meh’ ¦. What does a Jonas Brother know?!

I am not a fan of the group but I do know that Nicholas Jonas had a solid career on Broadway (La Boheme, Les Mis, Sweeny Todd, Sound of Music, Annie Get Your Gun, Beauty and the Beast ) before striking out with his brothers, so I am sure he knows a thing or two about auditioning in front of less than forgiving casting agents – I mean judges!

I really hope the rumor about Kelly guest judging at auditions is true! I would love to see her going toe to toe with Simon et al. during auditions.

It was Nic. I listed the Broadway shows he was in above. Quite an impressive resume. You can find his performances on YouTube.

That’s true, DC does a commendable job handling these incessant questions, but I still think it kinda sucks for him that he has to do that repeatedly. I mean, that was basically a David Cook interview where he was once again asked not so much about his own music, but only about Kris and Adam (“squawwwkk!). And in response, he has to chose his words carefully to praise everyone but himself, because one slight misstep with his words of praise and you’ll hear stuff about oh, it’s backhanded compliment, he’s just jealous, he sounds threatened etc.

Thanks for the MJ videos. I am more curious about Brooke’s set. Hope their tour does well and gets extended out east. I would love to catch a show.

There are a ton of great videos of Brooke, Michael and Elliott on youtube. Just search for the most recent or use their name and Eisenhower Park.

You gotta love david cook. I think a few of the current idols could take a few lessons from him on how to walk the media tightrope.

I agree. Megan could position herself in a Kellie Pickler-type post-idol career. She’s got a quirky, fun personality, charisma, and beautiful looks. I can definitely see her as a TV personality.

The need 18 to 35 year old viewers for Idol. I don’t see that the JB’s will bring in young adults. (But Nic really can sing.) IMO More clueless actions on the part of TPTB. Why don’t they go out and get current, young, legit alt. rock singer to judge this show?

I agree Adam looks amazing in these photos! Some of the best Adam photos I’ve seen. I agree, from the hair and his weight (or lack of weight), these are recent — either before the tour started or early in the tour.

Dawn Ritz, the fashion stylist, has Adam’s image on the “Advertisement” tab of her website but there is no clue on either site what they are for — the photos could be for a photo journalism piece, a fashion designer or some unrelated style product. Look at #6, the suit with the armour on the shoulder, the metal mess undervest and the black leather pants with zippers. It’s an amazing shot but what would be for sale here? Well maybe they are for a vodka ad.

The only thing I can determine is that this was a time-consuming and expensive photoshoot, and with Adam’s schedule, I bet it’s for something specific.

Don’t understand why they need to bring the Jonas Bros. in the same week, but I’ve long wanted them to start bringing back successful Idols for mentoring gigs, and I could see some of them being good judges.

And, wow, now that you mention it, Archie could totally pull off the Paula Abdul “regardless of how crappy that was, I’m going to be sweet to you” role.

ETA: Kellie has done some TV hosting, including the New Year’s Eve show with Ryan Seacrest and some stuff on CMT.

THIS. Exactly. (And I’m the mother of a child who did plenty of weddings when he was in high school, and even I would say not to do this unless you know the kids personally).

The Jonas Bros? Okay, tween acts do not necessarily equal talent (just marketability). Successful or not, could anyone really see any one of the JB’s schooling a David Cook or Adam Lambert on vocal ability and stage presence? I’m just sayin….

Why? If they’re just trying to lower the average age of AI viewers and balance out the old people, I guess that’ll work, but I would think the goal isn’t to just blindly lower the mean age, but rather to get back the most desirable demographic, which is what, 18-24? Or 29? I forget the ranges.

Anyway, point is, 18 year olds I know aren’t into the JoBros, it’s the kiddies and preteens. Isn’t advertising revenue highest for shows who get the 20-somethings? I dunno, for all the talk about SYTYCD not getting great numbers in overall ratings, I’m really curious to know what the demos are, cuz I know a ton of 20-somethings who are into the show because despite Mary’s antics, it’s perceived as this cool young show that focuses on superb dancing… whereas I have very few friends my age who still watch AI, because it’s increasingly perceived as this circus show that only old people and little kids watch. I mean, why do they want to get more kiddies? Maybe I’m biased, but AI should target the older teens and the 20-somethings to make the show cool again. They’re the group that dictates the current of popular music. The JoBros gets mostly Disney radio play, not Top40. End rant/

I’m actually excited for the jonas brothers judging. They just seem so SWEET. Unfortunately this is the one area which I can help with . I know waaaaay too much about the jonas brothers. ( hangs head in shame). Kelly clarkson:meh. I mean I absolutely ADORE Kelly her voice is amazing and she can actually sing I have tons of songs by her I just don’t think she would be a great judge. IMO she doesn’t have a very distinct personality. I think it would be okay if she judges but I won’t have a party or anything.

I have some issues with some of the photographs, besides the shopping in some that make him look even more like a character out of Final Fantasy, than normal. But after the TwitterPic of Photographic doom from the cover shoot? I’m more than happy with these pictures.

Yeah i like his vocals and seems like a caring guy whom tries too hard at times and can be a jerk because he is human.
The point of Lessons from David Cook I disagree with that point..WHY, Daivd Cook at time is too much of a politician to the point of being unnatural .

These are part of the Pennyroyal shoot. You can tell by the picture they used, it has the black jacket, lots of photoshopping, etc., which is why it’s labelled under ‘advertisement.’  So yes, done more recently.

Pennyroyal used a picture from this shoot, but the shoot was not for Pennyroyal, there are to many body shots and nothing in there advertising what Pennyroyal sells. These look like publicity shots or something.

Did he wear that piece in the final shot? I don’t recall seeing it on him, but they did use a picture from this shoot. But anyhew, it’s labelled as advertisment, and Pennyroyal used a shot from it, to advertise on their site that Adam was making avail those pendants. Who knows beyond that?

The need 18 to 35 year old viewers for Idol. I don’t see that the JB’s will bring in young adults.

AI should target the older teens and the 20-somethings to make the show cool again.

I think that is what last year’s antics were about. I think Kara was supposed to help because her sensibilities are much more tuned to the current pop charts than the others, in theory anyway. Plus trying to up the “drama” and cast “characters” was probably about chasing reality TV show loving 20 somethings. Didn’t work. LOL.

I do think the 3 that were signed this year came the closest to reflecting the various aspects of the tastes of 20 somethings though, so we’ll see how that works out for them.

I mean I absolutely ADORE Kelly her voice is amazing and she can actually sing I have tons of songs by her I just don’t think she would be a great judge. IMO she doesn’t have a very distinct personality.

Kelly is HI-LARIOUS. Girl has a huge personality, and pretty much cannot shut up or filter herself, which is usually great for making fun/interesting interviews, not so great when she goes off about her label… heh.

Gotta go with snuffles on this one. This has “fashion shoot” written all over it! Love these outfits, and I would love to know who the designer is, and whether Adam was able to snag any as a reward for posing so beautifically. I think the outfits are amazing and perfectly suit his style – in fact, perfect his style.

nick sings , kevin (is sooo ugly) and plays guitar, and joe is just hot( don’t hate me). joe sings sometimes too. I don’t think kevin ever sings. I have their whole first album because my friend gave it to me. I just skip their songs:) their kind of whiny and CANNOT act which is obvious in JONAS (tv show) which is bad even by Disney standards. I still watch it though. the obsessed fan reminds me of me with Adam:p if their trying to get a younger audience it’s yet ANOTHER tptb FAIL. Most people I know don’t hate them but wouldn’t watch a show just for them. I’m sure they have some huge fans but probably not enough that will keep watching later in the season. From what I’ve heard of Kris’s CD, it’s quite good!

I honestly don’t see the ‘big deal’ in the reporter’s question to Megan regarding the twelve yr. old girls. I hope things go well with her in the future. She’s a beautiful girl with a distinctive voice.

I’m excited about Kelly Clarkson as a guest judge!!! Smart move imo. I think the Jonas Brothers will be great! Yes, Nick Jonas knows singing and music. I think we’ll be hearing more about him in the future, after the JoBros are over. Everything I read on him (RS) impresses me more and more.

PS: I read the DC interview where DC mentions Kris’s confidence, good call! I love both of these guys and am so glad they were able to spend some time together.

I’m actually excited for the jonas brothers judging. They just seem so SWEET. Unfortunately this is the one area which I can help with . I know waaaaay too much about the jonas brothers. ( hangs head in shame).

However, the teens are their demographic what are they doing judging idol. ? what qualifications are required to be a judge?. popularity? Sma11ie you’re probably right I’ve only seen a few of her interviews and stuff so I’m just judging her on what I saw.

to however said Adam knew about the jonas brothers previous success. Normally I would say something like I don’t think so but this seems like a NOooo!!!!!! Nick’s previous broadway stuff isn’t a big deal and isn’t even on Disney which is where jonas fans are. I knew nick did something like that but I think saying he knew about there success is over-analyzing it. Besides he didn’t know there was already a “bonus jonas” in one of the interviews which all jonas fans and non-fans know is frankie their little brother. During a top 36 interview when they were in pairs Adam was paired up with some girl who LOVED the jonas brothers when she was talking about that he burst out laughing and the girl said don’t laugh at me and Adam said I’m not laughing at you I’m laughing with you. Also in the rolling stone interview Adam said he liked laser lights beter than the jonas brothers. So…yeah I don’t think he knew much about nick being on broadway.

Adam is so photegenic that his candid shots are even really good. Sometimes professional posed shots make people look different. It’s usually the photog who makes them have a certain expression that isn’t natural to the model.

She’s a 2 1/2.

They used that horrible photo of him for both Adamofficial.com and the 5-song idol album – he REALLY doesn’t look like “Adam” in that photo!

Just checked the Pennyroyal website, http://pennyroyalsilver.com/
and he isn’t wearing the necklace on the website where he is advertising this piece. And in fact is wearing a necklace from another company. So that doesn’t seem to be the determining factor.

Now whether this was wholly for them, by them? No idea. I just know the pictures were labelled as advertising. Pennyroyal used a picture of Adam from this shoot for their website, and the picture for that, doesn’t have him wearing Pennyroyal jewellery.

Kris’ article really gave details about him that have only been speculative, more or less, on this blog so I relished hearing him say it himself! Just loved hearing all about his life’s journey & how it’s brought him to where he is today.

Megan’s article solified to me Paula’s closeness to these idols and for that reason alone, I would love to see her back! Whether I like her antics or not, it will NOT be the same w/o her, not for me or future contestants.

I truly can’t stand the Jonas Brothers. At Promoquad, they kept making me rate their whole album, over and over again. It was like the Groundhogs day movie. Every time I went to Promosquad, I had to rate every one of their songs before I could get any other music.

I guess they thought I would eventually change my mind. Finally, after I remarked that the youngest brother’s voice was so high pitched, it made my dog’s ears bleed, they stopped making me rate that album.

I think asking Cook to be an applausometer at an idol concert is kind of a tacky question so I’m glad he played the “politician”. Any opinion would have resulted in a useless headline saying “Former American Idol winner says that crowd responds better to Adam” (and god-forbid he said anything in favor of Kris!). I think that Cook has wisely learned to pick his battles and express his opinion when he thinks it’s actually important (for example, when he expressed his opinion about gay marriage). By the way, I love his latest Pork n’Beans episode which addresses this exact issue.

Everytime I read about a guest judge mention, I see a lot of “Oh no, not him/her” responses. Who do you guys want to guest judge this enjoyeable cheesy reality singing show? Aliens from Mars? The 3 tenors? Masterclass lady?

Supposedly, the title of Adam’s pennyroyal picture was ‘PRphoto’ . These could be his PR photos with RCA. Would a jewelry company really go to so much expense for 100 pendants? They might have just used one of his official PR photos.

It is ridiculously hot today. It is the warmest day of the summer, of course. I am trying to find out about the M&G if there is one. Boston is not always the most organized city, so…if you are going, bring lots of water!

I have no idea how rowdy the crowd will be tonight; I hope everyone will be respectful of Kris and the others (as in, for example, no OMG, ADAM shouts throughout the entire night while others are singing, and I love Adam), and I am staying until the end of DSB. I would agree with David here. The clap-o-meter seemed to be in Lil’ David’s favor, a bit more piercing than DC’s, at last year’s AI Tour show in Hartford. The reviews, for the most part, seemed to be in DA’s favor as well, a bit tougher on DC. I think he’s being completely forthright here. The screams for Archie throughout the TV season of Idol was quite vocal as well, more so than for David Cook. Just my impression of things, and it appears David Cook’s as well.

I don’t think DC really has a favorite IDOL and if he does, it might be based solely on the genre of music more so than the vocals.

As I stated in a previous post, my 19 year-old neice didn’t have an interest in IDOL. (And to be honest, why would a 19 year-old be interested in a 28 year-old widower? Just as an example.)

I think this might hold true for other college-aged kids. Between her studies, friends, school activities and a boyfriend, she didn’t/doesn’t have much time for Television. She loves Chelsea Lately, The D-List’s Kathy Griffin — I think she’s a fan of One Tree Hill — I bought her the first 3 seasons of it on DVD. More into Dane Cook than David Cook, but I think I piqued her interest taking her to DC’s concert.

Her 14 year-old sister secretly loves/loved Joe Jonas. I bought her their last CD. She’ll be a freshman in high school this year, so her tastes might have changed. I think the 14 year-old and most o her friends would watch AI for the Jonas Brothers.

That demographic has the same buying potential as the 18–29 demographic. My 12 year-old daughter and 15 year-old son shop at the same stores as the 19 year-old, soon to be 20, and want just as many CD’s, DVD’s, and electronic gadgets. They might even have more buying power not yet worrying about student loans and college tuition, along with car insurance, gas … those adult responsibilites and headaches.

I think the guest judges seem to be running the gambit — different music genres represented from Mary J. Blige to the Jonas Brothers. I think they have every musical genre covered. Will it draw viewers? Initially, I think it will. People will want to see how the show runs without Paula. Those who love Paula will be hoping for complete failure. I doubt it will happen. The Business/Corporate world does it every day — downsizing a key example. Everyone is expendable.

I agree that these were not done for Pennyroyal – even though the shot on the Pennyroyal site is from this shoot. Maybe they were commissioned by 19/RCA, and if so, I am impressed. Robert Sebree is about as good as they get, and with 5 different looks, that was an expensive photoshoot. I’m skeptical because it just looks more like a fashion essay than a PR/press kit session. I am sure there are a lot more photos but if it was a PR photo session, where are the head shots?

Personally i really dont give a F or put any stockage in what an Idol from another year thinks about the current year’s contestants.

Yeah, the random screaming for Adam, by all accounts I’ve read, is before the show and intermission, when they show his face, or bits of his face on the screns. Probably the only one who gets any Adam cries during their set is Gokey at the end of his. Now I’ve definitely heard people saying that Adam fans were asking the other idols at the barricades for Adam, and being kind of rude there, and yes, I wish they would stop that. But I haven’t heard of it being done through the show’s singing. I agree, if they do? they need to stop immediately. Totally disrepectful to the other idols and their fans. Not cool. Not cool at all.

I don’t know how often this happens, but my sister went to one of the Newark concerts and she said that a couple of people behind her started chanting “Adam” toward the end of Danny’s set. I guess there are a few rude idiots in every crowd …

At the two shows I went to, I didn’t hear one person yelling for Adam during anyone else’s performance. Only during Adam’s performance (or between songs) did I hear many young girls (teens and 20′s) yelling, “Adam I love you.”

Yes, that. What I think is ruder is when a reporter is interviewing another idol and asking them why Adam didn’t come out. In yesterday’s Hartford interview with Kris, a reporter asked him about Adam, and his response was five are interviewed for each show, and it wasn’t his turn. But then again, even ruder than that was when a news person calls Adam a “big shot” because he didn’t come out (same city, different interview).

I feel bad that people are calling Adam a diva because he doesn’t come out as often as the others. Even people here (MJ’s) think that of him.

Yeah, Kris was livid because HE wanted to cause massize amounts of lulz by any and everyone who saw it. Because Kris knows that laughter is great medicine, and as part of his charity and mission work, he wants to help people of the world…one guffaw at a time. Was there ever a doubt?

Regarding the Adam photos and the June 25th date — Adam was is LA that day.

Can’t see that Adam had much going on that day except for dealing with the “On with the Show” mess. June 25 is the day that TMZ posted the “On with the Show” memo and Adam responded via 19.

So assuming they were shot on June 25th (looks like the date), why weren’t these photos released earlier? And if they were done for 19/RCA, where is the 19 Entertainment copyright info? They are usually really careful about this their IP.

Where is the report of this happening? Tweets, yes. Shouts, no.

I went to two concerts and never heard any fans yelling Adam’s name during another Idol’s set. And there is no video tape that shows this ever happening. If it does ever happen, someone will need to prove to me that it was actually an Adam fan who did it, because it is just as likely to be like of lot of the negative Adam tweets from “fans” who turn out to not be Adam fans.

Yes, and asking them to give Adam things, and asking them to get Adam for them and so on. There are clearly a lot of passionate, and sometimes rude, Adam fans at the barricades.

I was wondering where they would meet them. There isn’t any place large or safe enough for a crowd of people to stand around. I wasn’t planning on going early or sticking around afterwards anyway so it’s no big deal and now those who were not coming out won’t get any flack about it, beside it’s way to hot to be standing outside in a crowd.

Yeah, I haven’t heard any Adam chants during any of the other Idols’ sets…just before the show and during intermission (when they show his face on screen), at the outdoor m&g’s (very rude to do this in the faces of the other Idols — I saw a YouTube from the Hartford post-show m&g that had some people chanting “Adam” basically in Kris’ face — however, then some other fans starting chanting “Kris” to counter them — and Kris just basically ignored the whole thing) — and of course at times during Adam’s own set.

Also, for Megan post-Idol…maybe she could take over the TV Guide “Idol” stuff that Kimberly Caldwell does? With Kimberly getting a record deal and with the other t.v. stuff she’s gotten now, she might not have time to do the “Idol” hosting gig any longer. So that could be an opportunity for Megan…

Sorry, but while I think David’s adorable and a great guy, all these answers tell me is that he’s mastered the art of answering questions with completely meaningless cliches. My best guess regarding Adam’s photo shoot is that they were commissioned by 19/RCA to be part of Adam’s official press/media kits.

Snuffles, looks like you’re right. There are at least two separate reports (one on IDF and one on AO) from people who called Pennyroyal to ask them where they got the photo of Adam with the pendant, and they claim to be told that it came from 19 Entertainment. (And no I am not obsessed enough to call myself!!)

So if they have these photos, why don’t they use them instead of that aweful one that is on the EP and AO.com?

They all know Adam is the reason most people attend the concerts. I, for one, only went to see ADam and would not pay money to see any other contestant. I paid MY money to see ADAM! WE were on the second row and started shouting ADAM at the end of Danny’s set because we were so excited. At the barricades, tons of people asked the idols about Adam coming out and the security and the arena employees and whoever else they could ask. Every contestant gets asked about ADam by the media. It’s just the way it is when you have a star like ADam. No one is trying to be rude or mean. It is just support for the idol everyone loves. At least, when he is on his own tour, we can shout and holla and whatever without having other fans or contestants crying over it.

I know it’s not an official announcement, but at this point I will be surprised if Adam is not the last pet project of Simon Fuller.
He is getting the big names producers/songwritters out of the 19/RCA stable, both of his photoshoots seem to have been really expensive and the soundtrack deal is of course something that they decided at a Sony level.

I’m just speculating here but this looks more and more to me like Adam is going to have the bigger promotion over both Kris and Allison.

Frankly I would have been surprised if Max Martin came to the States just for Adam and I am not trying to be negative towards Adam at all, he just doesn’t do that for anyone even the most prestigious artists. Yeah…possibly for the UK/European market. I just read a re-cap of a UK fan who met Adam. He told her there are plans for him to visit the UK early next year. A duet with Leona would be one way to help introduce him.

Maybe not a coincidence. Leona Lewis covered “I Will Be”, an Avril Lavigne song written by Lavigne, Dr. Luke and Max Martin, but I believe that is hew only connection with Max Martin. So this would be the first time she has ever worked with him. And her new album is also scheduled to be released in November 2009. She is under contract to Sony/BMG.

But on the other hand: Leona is not managed by 19. And Max Martin is really a great songwritter and it seems like a perfect fit for Leona.

No, snuffles gave a good example above, but actually the Concept of recording duets in different places is nothing new. Frank Sinatra released a whole CD of duets (Duets) with famous singers, many of whom he never met in his life – before or after the release. He recorded his part and his music was shipped to the producers for the other artist. Then there was that famous Michael McDonald and Patti LaBelle duet in the 1980′s. The video shows LaBelle in Philadelphia and McDonald in LA because they recorded their portions of the songs on either coast. Fittingly, the duet was called “On My Own”.

Ok, I understand the concept of doing a duet separatly because of time and local constraints, but in this case, they recorded one day apart in the same city (probably the same studio).

And jumping in here, Elton John recorded his 1993 Duets album just before Sinatra’s (bad timing, they were released too close together for EJ’s to make much of a splash) and several of those vocals were recorded separately as well – in particular, the Aretha Franklin vocal on “Through the Storm.” I think it’s become common practice now for separate vocal tracks.

Something tells me, as lovely a voice as Leona Lewis has, a duet with Adam is not a “smash hit” in the making. I would think either of them would record with more of an established “star” to help it along with sales. Too much of a gamble to have reality stars from two diff shows team up IMO.

Hi Q3! I meant no slight to Leona Lewis’s talent, I bought her album myself. But I don’t think she is *famous* enough (here in the US) that pairing her with Adam would make it automatically a success. Adam isn’t the right fit for Leona either. Syd Duran is a new rock recording “star” that has a contract with Hollywood Records (Disney) which is also the label of Queen. Hollywood Records does a lot of the Soundtracks for movies.

So deduction is that the “song” by Adam for 2012 is alive and well and being set-up at Hollywood records. I don’t think it will be much longer before we hear the “official” announcement.

They are no longer contractually obligated to 19 and can now move forward with their own careers and their own negotiations and signings with other record companies. Yeah, I watched it a couple times myself. It’s kinda mesmerizing and the tune gets right into your brain and won’t leave. Not my favorite thing on earth, but pretty interesting. There was a lot of griping about how Adam shouldn’t have posted it on his twitter where little tweens would be scarred by it. Oh dear.

And also, seems that all of Adam’s male friends weigh like 90 pounds soaking wet. No wonder he thinks he’s fat, poor dear.

I had to laugh at the TMZ shot of Adam coming out of Subway after some of the comments yesterday about certain other idols being inferior for eating at chain restaurants….lol.

What’s hilarious is that by the time individual tours start, in early 2010, each of the Idols whose record is really out will be dying to shake the more insane fans and hoping for more of an audience of the general public . . . which is the only way they have a prayer of succeeding.

The hardcore stans are always wishing that everybody but the fanboard fanatics would go away, whereas when a performer is actually hitting radio or selling platinum, they start to have audiences made up of the general public, 90% of whom are hearing you for the first time or know one single. And that’s a good thing . . .

History suggests, if you’re at a show and everybody there is an Idol fanatic with a fan number, your record is selling >500, 000.

Leona’s album will be out this November as well so she’s been flying here and there working with producers and writers for her own songs. She already has a duet with Justin Timberlake for her album, I doubt that she’s going to do another one.

There are at least two songs on Leona’s new album with male vocalists — JT and Timberland both did vocals for her album. And, based on what is on her fan sites, Leona’s song are already selected and the recording is mostly done.

I don’t follow Leona closely but some of the people who do think this recording session is unusual. I don’t think she is doing a duet with Adam. But it is an odd coincidence.

I’m sorry, but this was a stupid question. Should girls/women not scream at Kris because he’s married? These gay questions are getting real old real fast. Just let fans be fans. No fan is going to ‘get’  with any artist regardless of their sexuality.

I have to admit that one of the things I find fascinating, psychologically and sociologically, about Idol fans (or any fans) is how they can have a sexual-attraction component to being a fan of someone biologically incapable of find ing them attractive in the same way. It’s one thing to think somebody is a great performer or singer or even to think of them as handsome or attractive, objectively, in appearance. But, I have to admit that I don’t get fans when they their fandom contains an element of sexual attraction someone who is geneticallyunable to perceive me the same way, under any circumstances.

For me (and I am speaking just for me), I couldn’t lust after Amy Adams in all her thespian and carnal awesomeness, if I knew that even under optimal,
ideal conditions (optimal and ideal for me), there was still no shot that it could ever happen. I would need to know that if lightning somehow struck, so to speak, that at least genetic predisposition was on my side.

(Now granted, the “ideal, optimal” conditions that it would require for me to have a chance with Amy Adams would be that I had retained the services of a personal trainer for about six months beforehand, that I possessed much more material and financial wealth than I do, that I had spent several or more, full-hour-long sessions with a personal style consultant , and that Miss Adams was, simultaneously, overcome with this irrepressible urge to “go slumming” (or was preparing for a role in which her character goes slumming by going slumming herself))….

Then again, looking at the other side of the coin, I suppose if you’re going to lust after a “star” of the opposite sex, it might be “safer” to do that with a gay one. Not all husbands or boyfriends are so tolerant of Idol or celebrity crush-tarding. Supposedly, from what I’ve read elsewhere, there have been cases where “Idolization” has led to the breakup of relationships and even marriages and families. So, these types of jealous real-life significant others could be more indulgent of their wives or girlfriends fantasizing about gay stars of the opposite sex than straight ones….

I really enjoyed Jason’s single. It took me straight back to the early seventies. Made me remember working on my tan at Huntington Beach in SoCal and hearing ‘Rikki Don’t Lose That Number” by Steely Dan for the first time on my little transistor radio. Before ‘American Idol” stars took the stage at TD Garden last night, we were given the opportunity to interview five of the Season 8 finalists. Too bad we couldn’t choose which ones. We were hoping to get some quality face time with Adam Lambert. Instead, we got Anoop Desai, Matt Giraud, Scott MacIntyre, Michael Sarver, and Allison Iraheta. So what are they up to? Desai told us he spent a rare day off this week watching ‘Mad Men” and wishing he could smoke and drink like Jon Hamm’s character Don Draper. Sarver spent some of his time with us explaining the conspicuous mark on his neck, which he claimed was not what it looked like (a hickey). Apparently, he ran into a pole. With his neck. We believe you, Michael.

Just read part 1 of the LA Times interview with Kris Allen. Third in the state on viola? I am so impressed. I wonder if we’ll see him jamming on a saxophone next. He plays everything.

Just listened to Jason’s song. Wow. I love it. It is a happy retro pop–I see why people have commented that it’s 60s. It’s more complicated musically than most 60s tunes though-syncopated rhythms, etc.

I’m really surprised. I thought his first single would be a slow love song. So far, I love Atlantic Records. (And his website is WAY better than David Archuleta’s. Jive sucks. I wonder if Kris and Allison will have sucky websites too?)

I just wonder if people will embrace the sound. It’s a happy, fun song, but Top 40 isn’t a happy place like in the old days.

I have to admit that one of the things I find fascinating, psychologically and sociologically, about Idol fans (or any fans) is how they can have a sexual-attraction component to being a fan of someone biologically incapable of finding them attractive in the same way.

Because they think he’s hot. End of story.

I think there’s another component to idol fanatism than pure sexual attraction.

The vote part of the contest makes the fan/idol relationship much more intense than for others artists, IMO it makes people think the success of their idol is up to them and as a result they become very protective of their idol.
I’m always surprised of how many fans have a motherly affection to some of the contestants and how they want them to do well financially (when most of them have already earn a lot of money with the tour itunes stuff), it’s just something totally specific to the “idol experience”.

I am able to think that Adam is hot and sexy without remotely wanting to jump him or thinking about his sexual preferences in any way. It does not matter in the least. Sexy is sexy.

This is VERY true. I may someday incorporate my observations, based on countless hours loitering on the interwebs, of online fandom (of all types) into some sort of thesis-type parer or another.

The working theory that I’ve formulated with respect to the American Idol variety of fandom is that it’s predicated upon the notion that there is this undiscovered gem of talent out there– an unfound diamond in the rough– that the fans themselves feel an incumbent responsibility to help reveal to the world by voting, downloading, spreading the word about them, etc….

Of course there are opposing fans out there who think they have an undiscovered diamond too. And so supporting “our Idol” over “their Idol” often becomes about more than whose talent makes them more deserving of achieving their dream. It also becomes about whose brand of music and pop culture– and often also culture in general, politics, religion, values, worldview etc.– will “triumph” during that season of Idol and beyond the season.

Anyway, like I said, it’s a rudimentary, working theory. Obviously, it needs more fleshing out….

But, I have to admit that I don’t get fans when they their fandom contains an element of sexual attraction someone who is geneticallyunable to perceive me the same way, under any circumstances.

I definitely think there’s a weird “We made you, you owe us” component to the idol fandom that can get really creepy and irritating at times.

But I’m a bit confused at your confusion about why people would find Adam, Kris, or the others sexually attractive even though they have zero chance (Adam’s gay, Kris is married, and both are famous) of getting with them. Now, in order for me to have a full-blown “crush” on a guy, I would definitely have to know that he was really interested in me too. But sexual attraction? I’m sexually attracted to people who are sexually attractive. Adam is sexually attractive because he’s gorgeous and charismatic and just very sexy, whatever causes that. I don’t have to think I have a chance with him–which I wouldn’t even if he were straight–to feel attracted to a gorgeous, sexy guy. I don’t think that most women and girls who find Kris sexually attractive are actually hoping to get with him.

Am I misunderstanding your post? It’s very possible–it’s late and my reading comprehension skills are not at their best. You seem to be saying that you’re sexually attracted to Amy Adams, so how is it different for people who are sexually attracted to Adam or Kris, even though they have no actual dream or thought of hooking up with them?

Sure. Fans are hooking up with Brad Pitt, and Hallie Berry at all their movie premieres right?

Huh? What do movie premieres have to do with anything? Who knows about Brad or Halle but celebs have been known to hook up with fans. I don’t think that’s a particularly shocking revelation to most folks. A couple years ago, my sister was hit on by a member of INXS after a concert. She turned him down.

Unless, of course, Amy Adams turned out to be a lesbian. In fact, if it was Amy, all bets would be off. I would lust after Amy even if she was a dendrosexual.

And that’s EXACTLY how some feel about Adam. It doesn’t matter! Sexy is Sexy!
