DC is going to appear at the grand opening of the new JC Penney in NYC on 8/5 as part of a Skechers promo woo!

SKECHERS brings you a meet and greet with David Cook, 2008 American Idol winner, recording artist and SKECHERS front man. He will be signing autographs.

Kris will probably do a Sketchers ad soon too, I believe the AI winners do print ads.

DC and Carrie are the only two AI winners who have had Skechers endorsement deals thus far. AFAIK, there has not been any news yet as to whether 19M has arranged a similar deal for Kris or not, it will probably depend at least in part on whether they are signing him once the tour is over.

Her name is Mia Carruthers.

Mia never did an accoustic version. She sang it with a beatboxer and an accompanied piano player. Kris’ version sounds nowhere remotely close to Mia’s. Her version is actually very similar to Kanye’s.

Kris I believe was doing another artist’s version – some girl who did it with acoustic guitar alone? Can not remember her name. Definitely not the Fray’s version. I find the Fray’s version interesting but a bit dull – the Kris/whoever version is more dynamic.

First of all, I can’t cut and paste either, so don’t feel bad.

Regarding your post, I too get annoyed when I read negative personal crap about Adam (“he’s a diva”, etc.) or the other Idol kids. But the reality is that kind of negative stuff sells. The National Enquirer in particular is all about the negative, and they wouldn’t sell nearly as many copies if they said Adam is a sweet, lovely person. It’s too bad really, but there has always been a market for this type of stuff.

However, as Adam said in his Idolatry interview with Michael Slezak, I guess we’ll just have to say “whatever!” and try not to take it too seriously. After all, Adam, Kris and most of the others seem to be getting a lot more positive comment than negative so far in the press.

Just wondering if this is one of those deals where fans can send text messages to potentially be scrolled across a screen during breaks in the concert. They used to do it at the AI concerts (not sure if it’s still done now’ ¦).

I think so. Just wanted to note that this wasn’t in CA, because she said she was going to an AI concert in August.

I brought my daughter to the Jonas Brothers sold out concert last Saturday. The whole venue was packed . They had a big rotating screen in the upper center of the stage where messages appeared.No idea where the messages came from . For example the message said ‘  scream if you love Nick Jonas’  and people were screaming upon reading the message. Most of the messages were Jo Bros related of course .. Suddenly a message got displayed saying ‘  scream if you love Adam Lambert’  and people screamed and went nuts ..

Because Idol has a huge audience that are now reminded of the original artists and/or learn about them for the first time. Many of these people then go spend $$ on the original songs and then check out other work the artists are doing.

Actually, this might be a good argument for Idols to choose more obscure and older songs to put their spin on. Those are the people who actually *may* be thrilled to get the song on Idol because otherwise people would have forgotten about it. They sometimes end up getting major sales boosts and new popularity because of the versions, whereas with more modern songs or just with very well known songs, the artists don’t tend to need the help so they’re probably mostly just ‘meh, who cares’ about the Idol versions.

Covers done well are for the most part beneficial to the AI contestants themselves. The likes of Kanye would be flattered but wont be jumping up and down in excitement, cos they sell their own songs themselves, and make a killing too, well before Ai rolls around for the season

I think his fans would appreciate knowing that when he sits down for a chat, he’s engaging and very modest. (Lemme tell ya, this isn’t always the case.) He was a delight.

This. Onstage Adam is NOT offstage Adam. Which is 100 percent fine with me. We can enjoy both of them. So when I read reports of him being a diva, I get really pissed off.

Bo Bice really brought “Vehicle” and its writers back to life, for example, and I seem to remember that they actually *were* thrilled about it.
