Maybe they should have Kris sing Time of My Life.

I would like to see all 8 winners in a contest, where they all sing each of the coronation songs. I true test of who can sing crap and make it sound good. As a music fan, it would be a tough contest to listen too. But what a hoot.

Oh, lord, no. No one should be required to perform NB. Really, it’s kind of cruel to require anyone to perform Jordin’s song, either. [Which did not, despite what one critic said, chart or sell well. It actually performed worse than NB on both counts, even if it turned out to be less of a set-killer than NB.]

Anyway, I’m glad for Kris that he won’t have a song sucking air out of his set any longer.

Re: the amount paid for the concerts: what I had understood from last year was that 6-10 got $5000 a show, and then each of the rest got $1000 extra, with the winner getting $10000. But I never saw anything officially confirming that.

No Boundaries is not in Kris’s range. I think it was written with Adam and perhaps Danny in mind’ ¦both have bigger ranges.

I think it was Danny. Remember the “OMG, OMG” from Kara the night Danny was eliminated? I believe Danny was the frontrunner when they began writing NB and thought he would just walk away with the season. Sorry Kara, never take anything for granted, lol

* I recall reading somewhere that they get 100K for the tour,
* I read that Ruben got paid 250-350K?
* I thought I read that David Cook made $5000/show last year
* On Larry King the Idols said they all got paid the same amount.

One scenario that might explain all of these comments is if the Idols get a flat fee for each solo song they perform. If they get $1000 per song, this would give people like Sarver $2000 per night for his two solos ($100,000 for the full tour). Adam and Kris would get $5000 per night ($250,000 for full tour). This would also explain why the Idols said everyone gets the same amount (maybe what they actually meant was they all get the same amount per song).

This article kind of went with the discussion about Adam’s authenticity, he’s even mention in it.

This is the 27th such contest that I am aware of (with several more tonight too), but the first to be streaming live around the world.

Maybe he can be the host AND take over Kara’s position, too.

But Ryan can’t write songs, oh wait neither can Kara….

Actually I’m joking , I know she’s written some hits. Besides I think Kara has a lot to offer the judges panel and will even more so now that she has one yr. under her belt.

Also, Adam-fan that I am, I have to say his set lacked the energy of the Tacoma set. (Talk about nit-picking!) Adam didn’t command the audience to dance in the Bowie set or pushed quite to full throttle in WLL like in Tacoma (and did he flub a line in Vancouver’s WLL?).

OK I am now officially a total nerd — or completely insane.

Adam has sung slightly different words to WLL all three times. But he actually did mess up one line in Portland. He started the second verse with “You been coolin’” which is the first line of the third verse. But then went back to the correct lyrics for the rest of the second verse.

I do wish the same could have happened for DC last yr., but that’s history now.

The big difference is that TOML was continuing to sell very well into the summer and fall months, until it eventually reached platinum. So, as sucky as it may have been to sing a song that was not representative of his sound, at least Cook was getting some monetary returns and building a foundation for being played on the radio (outside of the immediate post-finale weeks). With Kris and NoBo, there appear to only be downsides and no upsides as far as I could tell.

See ya, bye, Kara’s craptastic NB. Kris doesn’t have to pick another song from Idol though, or does he?

If anyone bought the Idols’ S8 album, with not one but TWO versions of NB, said person should get his money back. Then again, who actually *bought* this?!

DA voluntarily went on vocal rest at times during the tour. He knew enough to be able to do that for himself and help keep his voice in shape.

It’s a grueling schedule – both the show and the tour. I respect their decisions to rest their voices when necessary. I also think fans need to try and respect when some of them can’t do M&G’s or sign autographs after the show. They need to protect their instruments. And they should all be allowed to make those sorts of decisions when necessary.

right. DA actually had lost his voice on finale night and was saying it came back just in time. Due to all the songs that had going on that week.

It can be as much as a preventive measure too in addition to when singers *need* to go on vocal rest.

I did think he really did a great job with what he was given though.

Ladymadonna, NB is already on Kris’s itunes pass so it’s already a part of his album there. But I’m curious too about the hard copy CD and any other place it will be available for download.
